Yes all the tribes of Akan are fingers on the same hands and God has ordained we remain united so our strength and light will be visible throughout the whole world and universe , our time has come . everyday its becoming clearer and clearer to all children of Akan that we must prepare mentally for a battle of freedom . they come with tricks that say we must take a non Akan as our leader because its nice ? do they not think that out of 30 million Akans we can not find sensible down to earth leaders and warriors to lead our own people to our own destiny? a govt of the people and by the people is what the 21st century democracy is all about . let them continue to play with the consensus and other figures that justify their fantasy and enable them to marginalize the participation of the Akan majority in the Affairs of their own land , to marginalize us thus preventing us to afford a better standard for our people . The had of God has given them pestilence after pestilence but they refuse to let our people go , soon they will be swept away like chaff in the hurricane of fury . Long live the republic of Akan and don't you forget it as now the Fanti speakers, Twi speakers, Ashantis and other tribes of Akan are now one .

Though he might not mean Akans in general, you do not go to Kumasi and just utter such words...you do not even say that in the north or any part of the world, as PRESIDENT representing ALL of Ghanaian. I can say it because I represent myself. Mr. President, you owe ALL Ghanaians, not only Akans, an apology.

I am no fan of the President but I must defend him in this instance. No where did Mahama state that "indigenes of the Ashanti Region are not ‘appreciative’ of efforts made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration." He was making a general comment applicable to the whole country. He has already made statements to this effect elsewhere on his junkets, the latest being his silly admonishment that we should be optimistic. He only used an Akan proverb to illustrate his point because that's the language of his audience at the time. It cannot be said that the President was being tribalistic because he's been pretty much saying the same things in all regions.

What the President is doing is to express his frustration despite his tireless efforts geared towards the development of the Ghanaian economy. His statement, while not palatable to Ashantis will resonate very well with the other tribes (majority) in Ghana. He has nothing to lose in both Ashanti and Eastern Regions knowing that you guys will not vote for him any way. What he is doing is to attempt to bring some changes politically in these two regions. Because these two regions tend to put the other regions down, the President by such statement will win huge political points with folks in the other regions besides Ashanti and Eastern regions. The lesson to be drawn from all this is that, the Akans should stop the "Ma te me wo" attitude and support the President in growing the ailing Ghanaian economy. Whether he is from the North or wherever, He is as Ghanaian as any one of you Ashantis and Akyems. Just Support the President for the good of the country.
