We have to stop using the word poor. We have to use more meaningful terms like in classifying economic status like upper class, upper middle class, lower middle class, and lower class. People in the middle class find life difficult in Ghana.

Why do people fall into the lower classes? They do because they are unskilled, unemployed, lack the education to make a living, do not have any relative to support them, discriminatory government geographical spending, may have been robbed of their toil, cocoa farmers being overtaxed, failure of the ministry of trade and industry to protect local industries from foreign competitors, government nepotism in employing people.

Once we know why people fall into the lower income groups then we can take steps to help them.

For those in the middle class a poor saving culture can be hurtful.

With the economy hitting families and the youth hard Boachsoft Finance 2012 software, developed in Accra and in East Akyem in the Eastern Region of Ghana, is helping families in Ghana to balance the family budget and save for retirement . It is better than the American product Quicken in many ways.

The Upper Class, the Middle Class, the Lower Class categories must be eliminated to enable prosperity to grow in Africa.

That elimination involves restriction of chieftaincy and divisive politics leading to selfless political leadership and collective determination to work for our own development and not relying on external governments to give us aid for survival

Can Lord Boateng tell us how many Banking and financial institutions in Western Europe, in particular the UK, hold accounts with money for Ghanaians who cannot justify their hidden wealth? It is rather condescending when we allow anyone to talk to us as if we do not know which direction the wind is blowing even while they contribute to the money drain from Ghana or Africa for their role in aiding and abetting the corruption of our leaders.
Money for development in European nations are money that is mostly available and in circulation in the banks and financial institutions across Western Europe. The same cannot be said about any part of Africa because our thieving African leaders have fund safe-haven in European banks where they can hide the loot. It is only when banks and financial institution in Ghana do not have to go money hunting that they can use dormant savings on their books to fund development and businesses on the cheap.

I've been saying this about the Western world forever. They don't have the welfare of African nations at heart.

How many times have we heard of the massive hidden wealth of all the rotten deposed leaders of Africa being repartriated back to the rightful owners? Zip!!! Mobutu of Zaire, Bokassa of CAR and even Papa Doc and his son Baby Doc of Haiti. They all looted the coffers of their nations and when the 'hangman' came calling,they ran and found safe haven in France to enjoy their ill-gotten riches. They all found safe haven in the western world to hide their loot.

The Western world has always tried to put all people of Africa and other nations with African descendants on a leash so that they can keep us under their control and to always go to them begging for help in terms of aids. And they have succeeded in doing that through our rotten and thieving leaders. They support these buffoons of leaders even though they know these leaders are syphoning the wealth of their individual countiries into their personal accounts in Europe.

Those three former leaders I mentioned earlier were just a tip of the iceberg because current leaders are also doing it and they look the other way till the hardships become unbearable on the populace and then they send a token clown like Boateng to come and talk to us like we are kindergarten kids. Shame on the Western world and even more shame on our theiving, rotten, corrupt and clueless leaders who allow these things to happen in the first place.

Democracy which is the brain child of the Western world will always remain the "Archilles' heels" of Africa, no matter how it is presented to us, it still gives the 'green light' to our politicians to do whatever they like for 4 long years without being aaccountable to anyone.They steal and keep on stealing anything and everything in sight till there's nothing left for the common man. Ghana is a stark and vivid case in point.
Somebody tell me if I'm wrong in my assessment of Africa and our relationship with the Western world.
