The incompetency of the Mahama government and the civil service is unbelievable. How can Subah and GRA investigate a questionable contract between Subah and GRA? The GRA-Subah contract is nothing but a money making machine contract. It sole purpose is to siphon scarce tax revenue into private pockets. It's sad and even criminal but in Ghana anything and everything are acceptable.

Mr Kofi the sad aspect of this subah criminal thing was that they paid no tax on the amount paid them by the GRA. The payment was treated as a VAT refund which attracted zero tax to the state. Sad indeed.

When the Chief Justice set up her committee to investigate a statement purported to have been made by Victoria Hammah, the Deputy Minister was not interviewed by the committee. Yet the committee wrote a comprehensive report to government to showcase the good work they had done, and to justify the waste of the nations resources on the tea and kebab the committee consumed. And that was the end of the matter.
By now. we must all have come to the conclusion that since the time of late President Mills, the government has been using the setting up of unnecessary committees to quench any hot news that try to expose the inefficiencies of our rulers. Our judicial and legal systems are such that these committees and commissions never bother about truth and justice. They are used as diversion to tamper people's anger when matters crop up.
The Election Petition was one good example of how we are let down by the legal system. With men such as Atuguba at the helm, what good should we expect from our legal luminaries, who are in all cases the people who sit on these committees and commissions.

There is no doubt that this Subah madness is responsible for the current high cost of making telephone calls to Ghana from abroad, in an age when such international costs are plummeting across most countries. Yes, to the extent that it is now possible to make "free" calls to even some African countries! The case is the stark reverse for Ghana. The caller is being ripped off, thanks to the NDC regimes of Mills and Mahama.

When Mills assumed power in 2009, Ghana was one of the cheapest countries one can call to in Africa. In the name of fighting sim card frauds and evasion of taxes by the telcos, they succumbed to that American-Haitian company to monitor calls terminating in Ghana whereas many other African companies rejected their offer. Sane leaders in those countries realised that, just like transportation, communication is just an ancillary service to conducting business and social intercourse, not a cash cow that must be milked to death in the name of procuring revenue. Ghana has gradually become a high cost country to do business in.

Calls to China now cost as low as half a penny per minute from the UK. If you get a service offering you 10p a minute to Ghana, then you have a good deal! People don't call as often as they used to do and talk for shorter periods. Some have found other means to communicate with relations and business contacts such as Whatsup?, Tango, Viber, etc.

Time up to call off this whole costly charade that is enriching only some few people!

Good points raised here. The cost of calls to Ghana are so exorbitant.

Also, Subah is an Indian company. The owner doesn't have any pedigree in the area of call monitoring.
