We complain about western imperialism in our language and activities of daily living and here is a woman who has not been to school, not controlled by western remote control, speaks and talks in one of our indigenous dialects and we castigate her for no reason. If education can solve our problems, Ghana (Gold Coast) would have progressed tremendously since the signing of the Bond of 1844. If educated ones have been helpful to the country then why all the judgement debts, educated Parliamentarians sleeping and not making any useful contributions in parliament, attacking personalities instead of issues. Literacy is only a life back up and not the ultimate in life.

All the leading countries of our modern world (US, Russia, China, India, Brazil, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, etc., etc.) continue to use their 'mother-tongues' in their dealings with the rest of the world. And here we are, poor and underdeveloped and yet pride ourselves with our command of the English language. Mame Donkor's attackers should read the past histories of African kingdoms and they will see how progressive our forefathers were. If after so many years of independence, we are still marching backwards, maybe we should spend time asking ourselves why and leave Mame Donkor alone - I think she is a very brave woman.
