If these politicians want our respect they should declare their assets to prove to all Ghanaians they have not stolen and made Ghana broke. Anything short of this, I have lost all my respect for them.

Why did Abodakpi refuse the Daily Guide a stay of execution?

If he knew/believed/thought that they were as guilty as sin then he could have tested his own judgment by granting a stay of execution. In which case, he could have got some personal satisfaction if the Appeal court upheld his ruling.

All sorts of corrupt allegations are leveled against politicians. That is the political world we live in. Asiedu- Nketia should develop a thick skin for such allegations.

Judge Abodakpi simply wants to destroy the Newspaper. He should not play politics on the bench.

Is Ghana’s judiciary not the same government outfit that has the audacity and or the nerve to haul people before it and or imprison them for saying bad things about its members? Why should that be the case if the Appellate courts believe that what is published and said about citizens are not necessarily believed by readers or the listening public? And if lies and false accusations do affect the standing and reputations of the people on our court benches why do they not affect others even if it is NDC’s General Mosquito?
The sole purpose of the institution of journalism or journalists that roam the halls of TV and radio stations as well s hard print offices is to gather and disseminate news; they are also supposed to inform the public if those entities do have true investigative journalists worth the price of tea in China to expose public and private corruption and crimes.
For the daily Graphic to print an article that is untrue and disparages a political animal like General Mosquito who is hated by every NPP member and even some who would love to see his demise to tell the courts that Ghanaians do not or should not believe what we read because we are smart is only a thing that the guilty will use to explain away their foolishness and designed attack that failed. Furthermore, are we supposed to have doubts about news and political presentations on our TV, radio and or hard news publications because they may not be true? Is this a standard that those judges on the appellate court would like to see became the legacy of our fledging journalism industry? And are we supposed to believe that a fine of 250,000 would bankrupt Daily Graphic?
We may not like General Mosquito, the party he represent or what he stands for but the courts in Ghana cannot abet intentional dissemination of untruths about any Ghanaian and get away with it even if we hate them; is this the democratic values our courts have learned from the best of practices or our moral decay affects even those on the courts?
