  Why do we have to chase that $3 billion Chinese loan If such a huge revenue could be generated internally? Let Mahama come out and account for that money.

  Diamond (from the Akyem in the Eastern Region) --- 2,633,527 ct
  Bauxite (from the Western Region) --- 333,458 mt
  Manganese (from the Western Region) --- 596,572 mt

  Gold --- $1400 per oz
  Diamond --- from $1500 to $150,000 per carat (Market price)
  Bauxite --- $150 per mt
  Manganese --- $450 per tonne
  
  Akyem districts make up more than half of the population of the Eastern Region.
  
  Even though today diamond production from Akyem has stopped temporarily Akyem districts must be given their fair share of projects. Discrimination against Akyems districts has been going on for at least the last forty years. A visit to the Akyem districts would indicate the poor state of districts: bad roads, poor infrastructure. The state of the districts is not reflective of the revenue they have contributed over the last 100 years.

  Finally, in Nigeria we see people stealing, destroying property, all in the name of demonstrating not getting their fair share. We must take gov't to task for not doing enough, for the nation as a whole, and for the areas that have contributed to national growth. That said, we must demand from our ministers and DCEs better performance, instead of simply complaining everyday

  Newmont had paid GHC3 billion to the government but how much has Newmont made? We need to know to determinie if it worth it. Go to Kenyasi and feel the the social, cultural, political and economic damage caused by Newmont.
