Ambassadors' Trip To Brazil
The Ministry of Sports is considering a proposal to send 100 supporters, five musical artistes and 14 ambassadors to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil at a combined cost of $1.145m investigations have revealed.
In a cited confidential document, the 100 supporters being sent to Brazil is at a per head cost of $6000 which include an economy return air ticket, accommodation and feeding for the first 15 days.
This was contained in a proposed being considered by the Sports Ministry. The Ministry had initially targeted to take at least 500 fans to Brazil to support the Black Stars in their third successive World Cup campaign. But the Ministry’s inability to raise the required funds for this project meant the numbers had to be significantly chopped down to a 100.
There is however a provision to send five musical artistes plus a carpet band of seven members at a per head cost of $29,000 to Brazil in the second scenario.
Their package includes business return air tickets, accommodation feeding and honorarium. These artistes have been earmarked to be paid $2000 each for nine days in Brazil for their ‘service’.
A $60,000 amount has been budgeted to take care of the carpet band of seven members with a package including airfare, accommodation and feeding.
The celebrities being considered include; Shatta Wale, Becca, Jackie Appiah, Samini, Gyedu-Blay Ambulley and Castro among others.
The third scenario sees the airlifting of 14 unnamed ambassadors to Brazil at a total cost of $340,000, with a staggering $60,000 not accounted for.
$20,000 has been budgeted to be spent on each one of the 14 ambassadors – bringing the total figure of $280,000 event though $340,000 was budgeted for in this scenario. In a related development, a nine-member committee have been designated with specific roles to coordinate planned activities for the 2014 World Cup with no member of the Sports Ministry’s staff included.
The committees are in two folds; once that will be operating in Ghana and the other designated to operate in Brazil. Both categories however have almost the same membership – making it a bit unclear how these committee members will function.
The committees designated include; Council of Advisors, Secretariat, Match Tickets, Accommodation, Events (Brazil in Ghana and Ghana in Brazil), Media, Transportation, Hotels, Touring, Shopping, Stadium, Airport and Activation Centres, Food and Welfare (Illness, conflict etc), Visa and Security.

A poor country like Ghana's government spending that kind of money on the rich and famous is sickening. Why can't the private sector take this up, why does government not spend the money on feed or provided clean water to very very poor children in Ghana. Shame on the heartless and brainless NDC government.

This is no news. I think we are even lucky for them to disclose amount that would be spent to public. What about contracts monies spent that we have no ideal. Unnecessary judgement debts paid. Politicians buying luxury cars and mansions that we have no ideal. The only solution to Ghana is to sell the country and share the money to each citizen so we all humble ourselves. Nonsense ambassadors indeed ...

I'm a little confused about this. Musicians and artists who already have monies to sponsor their own trips to support the black stars are now been paid to do so??? Ei, what is Ghana turning into, what kind of cheering is John Dumelo, Jackie Appiah, etc going to do? What is the exact relevance of this??

Nobody can withdraw an article already posted on ghanaweb except the webmaster and even if I requested it to be withdrawn, the webmaster will not heed to my request.
I have found out the request to withdraw that article came from Rawlings people threatening lawsuits and bodily harm. Rawlings used his office to stole 10 million dollars which Ghanaians are paying for.

My man! It is clear you don't even know that you are making a mistake! You could have saved face by saying you omitted the apostrophe before the "s", thus, u shld've written "children's computers", which is the correct English. There is nothing like "childrens" in English!
BTW, I suppose if the children each have a pc at home and they are networked, all will have the same IP address, so trying to use them to hide your track is not feasible. Same for laptops with wireless access to the one source. Only different subscriptions each can do the trick but even that they can all be traced to the same house by experts!
