FORMER international Austin Okocha has been named among the greatest FIFA World Cup players of all time in a poll organised by the The Guardian Newspaper of UK. This is just as Brazil's Edson Arantes do Nascimento, popularly known as Pele took the top spot.

Pele broke onto the world scene as a 17-year-old in 1958 and helped his country to win the World Cup in Sweden. He featured in three other World Cup finals (1962, 1966, 1970).

Others in the top 10 are Maradona (2), Franz Beckenbauer (3), Ronaldo da Lima (4), Zinedine Zidane (5), Johan Cruyff (6), Lothar Matthaus (7), Gerd Muller (8), and Garrincha (9).

Former Super Eagles captain Okocha is ranked the 78th greatest player to have played at the World Cup since the first edition in 1930.

Okocha captained Nigeria to his last World Cup finals in 2002 and was also at the 1994 and 1998 editions.

English tabloid The Guardian, in arriving at the greatest 100 players of the previous 19 World Cup tournaments, recruited 40 judges broadly divided into three categories. The three categories were made up of World Cup legends, Guardian journalists and international experts.

The category of World Cup legends had Lothar MatthÃ¤us, Germany's winning captain in 1990 who appeared in five World Cups; John Barnes, former England winger; Zico, renowned midfielder who played in three World Cups for Brazil; former Super Eagles captain Sunday Oliseh, who was at the 1994 and 1998 World Cups; Itu Khune, South Africa goalkeeper at the 2010 World Cup and Kelly Smith, England women's striker, who played at the 2007 and 2011 World Cups.

Apart from Okocha, other African players in the list are Cameroonians Roger Milla in the 36th position and Thomas Nkono (88).

narrow minded northern and ewe tribalism have caused them to select appointees not based on competence and merit rather on who is my closer friend or who will not betray me . this group of liars and worthless criminals are just too busy being corrupt only for themselves and have no real duty to SERVE the interests of the nation or people . we witness the gradual disintegration of the institutions of state into corruption and with them the disappearance of the country is only a matter of time . these shameless individuals believe all they need to do is bullshit the people with propaganda the focuses on blaming the innocent be it the opposition , the Akans , external enemy forces and when that fails its now up to juju , voodoo or some other crazy foolish excuse . i say to them why dont they go and fire all the doctors , teachers etc as these troublesome groups want more money and replace them with herdsmen , latrine carriers , schoolboys so they can all learn on the job , it doesnt matter that the patients die in the meantime or as it is in the case of the govt nothing functions or reasonable lucid transparent decisions can not be taken . Common sense and an observant mind can only conclude Mahama is lucky they are only insulting him now , as when the insults , complaining and wailing stops it will only mean there is a firm decision to get rid of him and his corrupt selfish cronies in a bloody uprising . i predict he can continue in this hazardous manner just another few months until everyone is fed up with him and says its time to save the future for our children .its not a curse or juju , its just bad decisions and no true love for the people of this country .

Until we take decentralization to its logical conclusion and limit the president's right to appoint just about anybody who matters at all levels of governance and elect majority of political office holders such as regional ministers and district and municipal chief executives all this musical chair appointments will amount to nothing, the value will be the same: paternalistic cronyism and corruption.

In fact allowing the president under the fourth republican constitution to do all appointments to fill every board, and command and control of every district, region and ministry, amounts to a dictatorial one-party rule, otherwise euphemistically referred to as winner-takes-all democracy. That is at the very bottom of extreme partisanship, mediocrity, and corruption in the country.

These changes by President Mahama can go on each month and will not amount to a hill of beans until the administration choose up to three national problems to solve during this first term which have the potential to generate positive economic activities in other sectors of the economy.
For example solving the issues at the ports and harbors, the restructuring of our long term contracts with Vodafone, the oil and gas outfits and the gold, diamond and bauxite areas which is seen as beneficial to Ghana will spur local business investment. All current contracts between government and foreign entities are goog for those foreign firms even as they drain our natural and mineral resources but does not allow most Ghanaians to extract benefits at the national or personal levels.

You can appoint angels but if you do not supervise them effectively they will soon turn into something else.I was in Ghana and saw filt all over Accra yet you have put someone in charge who draws his wages and all other allowances from the state every month. For me, it is you who should be fired because you are not doing your work by calling the people in charge to order.Please get up and do your work properly and stop following the ban wagon in doing what everyone does call,reshuffle!It is absulutely unnecessary if you yourself is up to the task.
