This is the bondaries that the rever expands itself from time to time. Greedy chiefs who disrespect nature has sold this flood plains at a time when the river has receeded to the river bed to people who are ignorant of the facts. And because the KMA like all municipal assembly administrators are ingrates, there is no adequate planning as to where to build and not to build. So they build in the flood plains. Then when the river takes what is naturalrry hers, the flood plains, those who built there will have a date with floods. Then they blame the river and offer sacrifices. Kojo Bonsu, the river did not cause the floods, the greedy chiefs and the people encroched on the river flood plains. So this is what I will advise you to do instaed of sacrificing a hapless sheep. Let the KMA pass laws that will allow the rivers a breathing room, so that they can utilise and overflow the flood plains. This my friends is plain common sense.

As you imply, anyhow, dredging can only provide temporary relief from the floodings, because the precautions of not building in the flood-ways have been disregarded.

As long as houses will be in the areas prone to floodings, they will permanently recurring get problems.

Are people still building along the low lying areas of the river banks or the population of the village grown during the years for people in the area to contaminate the river? Look, if the chiefs want some meat and drinks and they are claiming they have to perform some rites, do not use government resources. After all, this should be a private-public partnership. The people and their chiefs should resolve the pacification issues while the government perform the dredging. This Mayor is an idiot to suggest government resources should be engaged in such practices? Why should a Christian, Muslim, Buddhist etc. taxes be spent on a god? These guys are not smart and should not be given the room to abuse our resources on flimsy excuses. By the time this stupid pacification exercise is over, the assembly would have spent almost $5,000. Stop this nonsense and get on the dredging to alleviate the problems of the people. Alternatively, policies should be implemented and enforced to avoid continuous erection of residential housing along the low level areas of the river. Enforce the laws and force people to move...that is governance that is common sense.
