KB is pointing at the wrong tree,he needs to get straight to the root cause of our economy.
Governments are to implement and create policies and the lack of proper ideas is causing this continuous downhill trend.

Enforcing stricter laws are the bedrock of any developed nation. That is an undeniable fact. If we go for this "seven year development plan, without enforcing laws that comes with it, the statuo quo will reign.

Do we have laws in Ghana? There are some people who are above our laws and there is plenty of evidence to support this fact. When Obama came to Ghana, he said, " We strong institutions and not strong men." In Ghana, there are people who can spit on our laws and walk with shrugged shoulders because they are untouchables whiles the poor and downtrodden get stiffer sentences because they are seen as "spit-on".

Added to this, we have allowed tribalism and partisanship to override our good sense of judgment and that is killing us "softly".

We have resources such as cocoa,lumber,oil,gold,diamond etc.,but our managers are corrupt to the bones.
Everybody want a piece of Ghana for free and without working for it.
Today is Woyome or Konadu Rawlings in a mastermind dubious amass Ghana's wealth for themselves.
If it is not a failed "Akonfem" project then it is Subah or GYEEDA or whatever.
Our leaders just think only about themselves.
JJ Rawlings is a typical corrupt leader who was just an average military guy who took power in a coup, he left power as one rich dude. Where did he get his money from?

But I doubt your take on the balance of payment position in the last years of Nkrumah. This information is available at the Bank of Ghana. You may not want to go for it, it will not be a good read for you.
Tarkwa Gold Refinery? Did it produce any gold for export and if it did, what tonnage were we able to export.Busia left the Cement Factories in place, so too is the Tema Oil Refinery. What about the rest of the 400 factories you mentioned. Which regimes sold them?

Our problem has to do with our mentality.
The decadence in our society stems from our individual families. What do we value? Easy money through stealing or white collar crimes? Do we value hard work with dignity? Are we always asking what others can do for us rather than what we can do for ourselves genuinely? Do we have people who care in the family for our welfare? Why have children when one cannot cater for them? When will fathers be responsible for their families? When will mothers stand and say “no work no marriage” when their daughters get pregnant with their boyfriends? Why drive a non-road worthy vehicle and end up bribing a police officer when that money could have repaired the vehicle in the first place? The country is a collective representation of every family unit, and if you have more corrupt families than otherwise then there will be corruption all over the place.

Even churches are not spared in this corrupt practices – as you have Ghanaian families represented there as pastors, church workers, etc. The country's middle class must lead this fight against the decadence in our national life – however they need to renew their minds and recognize that the fight is not about them but Ghana as a country!!

We have footballers who never thought they could be anything in life, yet when they get money they don’t put the money into any productive effort to help employ their less privileged folks, but rather they invest such new found wealth in cars and fanciful dresses. What is our priority in life as a country – to have generational wealth plan or enjoy the future wealth today? If we change our minds in the family units – the entire country will reflect the CHANGE

This phrase is absolutely correct we should blame ourselves for our underdevelopment because we refuse to honor wise counselling from the Bible,the entire chapter of Matthew 7 and the parable of the fig tree as a call to depose this non-performing which has being giving seed money over 50 billion GHC and nothing can this administration boast off only propaganda and chalk success in paying judgement debts and insults.If we will obey the counselling of Matthew 7 and the fig tree parable and cent clear massage to politicians they will do something about development and hypocracy will stop because they have thanking prayer for granted.

Though I have not read this book yet I would still endorse my recommendation for such a book for we need such a book to first give todays politicians who can not connect the past and move the present towards achieving any goal. Also for it to come from such an experienced mind who outlived since independent till now and before he leaves this arena for his maker all his worries for this wasted generation at least something as a guide would have been left for us to follow. For Mr. K B Asante to even accept that most of our problems are our making that too in fact is something most Africans don't want to accept but rather always being suspicious about the west, the developed that they kept us backward. Even today the EPA is seen with suspicious, The present NGOs have outlived their usefulness for they have been advocating on one sided without any alternative suggestions. Mr. K B Asante said it all that is our fault for been underdeveloped, yes look around us , sanitation why cant we simply throw used items or rubbish in a dustbin but rather prefer leaving them where ever we feel? why do we defecate where we sit to sell? unleashing and inflicting diseases and sickness on ourselves, why cant we vote the right people in power but rather all our minds are tribal , nepotism , and high corruption practices. why can't we be objective? In fact such a book is laudable. As I said I have not read this book but a good book can be known from its few verses. Yes we have to blame ourselves for where we have found ourselves, the answers to our development lies within ourselves. We should never believe that America or Europe wants to keep us underdeveloped , for what? if we are underdeveloped how can we consume what they are producing? how can we cope with their pace of technology? no. They would rather like us developed so that what they produce we can use them and also send to them what they need in a much nicer way than how we do things now.
