What I know with such international events is when a country scores its way to participate in such grandiose fanfare, all they normally do is to organize some kind of a tombola or what is popularly known as lottery together with some businesses to furnish as much as say, 1000, 2000 or in some cases 5000 of winning tickets to such events. Where I am as my second home or country, the government don't just wake-up and start sponsoring people to go cheer because the country is invited to participate in some world event and I bet I speak for many in here who have witnessed the same in their residing countries across the board.

In fact, the IMF head Christian Lagarde, was very much right by once saying that “Africa is the richest continent on earth, but yet the poorest.” Just take a moment, sit still and breathe slowly in and simply go through our continent from north to south in your mind and you will definitely come to a satisfactory conclusion that she is damned quintillion right. The question then is, why is it damned so, Africans?

How nice! Am NDC hardcore but I sincerely don't approve of this move.

First of all, there is no where in the world that Governments in power just bus-up or airlift its citizen to go support a national team wearing individual national colours at international stage anywhere in the world over. If one chose to support their National team half way across the world, then one must be ever prepared to foot the cost just for the love for his or her national colours. It only in some African countries, Ghana included, often stages this stupidity before the world. This story is a typical adage of "home calamity outside gentility" courtesy of a Nigeria friend.

The constituency youth organizers of the NDC in Ashanti Region have declared their support for Deputy Minister of Youth & Sports, Joseph Yammin on Government’s decision to send football fans to the FIFA World Cup in Brazil this month.

The youth organizers who issued a press statement in Kumasi stated that “we the Youth Organizers associate ourselves to the statement made by the Deputy Minister… though he made the statement some months ago, we think it is still relevant because the NPP has cheated us for far too long”

The press statement was signed by Mr. Osman Nabali, Youth Organizer of Old Tafo constituency who doubles as Chairman of the group as well as Mr Salahu-Deen, Deputy Youth Organizer of Subin, the Spokesperson.

Touching on how NPP supporters benefited from the NPP government between 2001 and 2008 without protest from any quarters, they mentioned among other things their recruitment into state institutions like NADMO, the National Health Insurance Authority and the School feeding Programme.

The Constituency youth organizers added that when it came to the 2006 FIFA World cup in Germany, the NPP government made sure that the majority of football fans sponsored to the tournament were NPP supporters.

“It is time that the NDC which has neglected their support base for a long time should do same for their supporters who risked their lives to campaign for the Party to win power. This is the only way they can have a sense of belonging to the party and be energized to work harder for victory in the next national elections” they said.

The group appealed to President Mahama to back the sentiments expressed by the Deputy Minister because the rank and file of the party in the Ashanti Region already feel energized by the sentiments.

They also asked other Ministers to follow Yammin’s example, remembering that it is the foot soldiers who will protect the ballot box on the D-day and stand up to the intimidation tactics of the opposition to once again chalk another victory for the party.

Hon Joseph Yamin, your frank and audious statement regarding supporters to be airlifted to Brazil has won the hearts of virtually all grassroot supporters of the great NDC and i write on behalf of the teeming grassroot members of the party to thank you and to tell you that we are absolutely proud of you.

Permit me to state copiously that, majority of us are not interested in going to Brazil because of our small, small businesses we are engaged in and our job schedules.

Your sheer recognition of the fact that grassroot members are those who have put you where you are today and given any opportunity you will not turn your back on us regardless of what it will cost you is absolutely in the right direction. For those who fail to recognise the person who butter their bread will only wake up one day to eat dry bread.

Honourable we are more than excited with your acknowledgement of our contributions, however, this is not the case with almost all your other colleagues who are occupying previlege and influential positions as a result of the hardwork and sweat of grassroot supporters. Most of your colleagues deny, scorn and diregard grassroot members as if they don't and will never need us again.

It is said that if the bird learns to fly without perching the hunter will learn to shoot without missing. We as grassroot knows what is under our sleeve and we are keeping it very close to our chest until judgement day.

Honourable, we are encouraged and motivated by your unflinching support to the broad masses and this convinces us that, you have the true qualities of leader. In return of our appreciation, we want to mobilize total grassroot support through every nooks and cranny of the country with the sole aim of supporting you in all your endeavours. We will also be strategising to one day install you as the candidate for the party. If you have never thought of it begin to dream of it, if you had it in mind begin to have faith for it shall be a dream come true for as long as God gives us life.

Power comes from us and belongs to us. We don't have the money but we are blessed with energy, strategy and influence on our individual grounds. We command and move households.

We can and will put you there if you continue to keep fate with us. God bless Joseph Yamin and keep in safe to always comfort us with his political maturity.

Hmmmmm, how on earth can anyone conceive this obnoxious position that Honourable Yamin should be sacked, for what? Is it for stating the plain and bear truth. We won't and can't continue to live in a hypocritic country. The truth must always be said whether it hurts some people or not, for is it not said in the bible that you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.

The NDC has its own challenges we are dealing with, we are not interested in any outside come and make bogus suggestions that will split our party.

Mr Baako, opinion they say are like noises, so you have your opinion and you are entiled to it. Please keep it to yourself. In fact your opinion is not welcome.

We will be total lost and completely at sea if Mr President will take on this infantile piece of nonsense or better still a recommendation impregnated with malice and hypocricy. Any such move could be very catastrophic to Mr President himself.

We have come too far to risk dividing the camp of the Black Stars into NDC and the "others" factions. 22 years ago in 1992 we came so close to winning our fourth AFCON title in Senegal but a sharp but unnecessary division among the players over the captaincy denied us the opportunity. The conflict was needless and avoidable but we chose to act unwisely. FIFA has made it abundantly clear to our politicians on numerous occasions to stay off football administration but NDC can never resist the temptation to flout these simple directives. Sports bring people together so it makes no sense to politicize it. Politicizing sports is unpatriotic and a sure way of killing it. Have we come this far to self destruct?
