I am not sure we have any decency at all. Callousness at the top. What a curse. I wish I never read this article. This is why everyone wants to be a lawyer in Ghana, now. You only need to team up with filthy individuals manning corporate institutions and just rob Ghana gov. from its revenue. That is how people get rich in Ghana.

MAN, readi 2 dye, GET REAL & co, I like the euphoria as well as your concern. Readi 2 dye, your suggestions are what made Europe tick. We are having it easy. Ancient Europe was total madness. In France, the royal family was enjoying what the farmers were producing. The sad aspect was that the farmers were given the rotten leftovers to eat. That sparked the French revolution. Please do some research and find out. The ordinary citizen was treated like garbage. The French revolution was spontaneously started by peasant farmers!! J J Rawlings was a joke.
Members of the royal family were lined up and had their heads cut off! Other European countries stood up and started doing things right. So I agree with you a million %. Lets forget about NPP NDC for once and shake them up. One little secret. SSNIT has been the cash cow for politicians since J J's time. Kufuor was using SSNIT monies to keep the useless Ghana International airlines afloat. Mahama is doing the same.

Good contribution Nana Kwaku. Let me add further.
I think that at this stage, we have 'crossed the Rubicon' (Google and check the meaning). ‘The die is cast’. All that some of us are waiting for is the inevitable. It will be butu butu, basa basa, kpoto kpoto. The seething furore in the public domain suggests that, its likes would have never been seen before in the history of Africa and it will have the capacity to transform the rest of the corrupt leaders of Africa to revise their notes and take the right path.
I came to this unfortunate conclusion after I heard a patent criminal like Asamoah-Boateng confidently and arrogantly running his mouth on radio this morning about his intention to become President of Kwame Nkrumahs Ghana. Have we sunk so low as a country that this mere village buffoon, an impenitent crook, a revised male version of Akua Donkor, can have the audacity and the impudence to also want to be President of Ghana? Even this fact is a symptom of a failed state.
Some of us can see before our very eyes, this country steadily degenerating in virtually all the major aspects of life – politically, economically, spiritually, morally and intellectually at the speed of lightening.
On this Vanef issue, it was the devilish former 1st Lady Nana Konadu who meandered her way to implant Bonsu, her protégé and relation, into that forced dubious arrangement with the STC which as expected, did not last long. Now that, not surprisingly, the company is doing even worse-off, the politicians want to sell it, obviously with the greater intent of pocketing a generous unofficial commission. They should all thank Kwame Nkrumah for creating the myriad of opportunities for them to come and chop and live large at the expense of the people of Ghana.
There is no plausible reason, other than successive govts planting incompetent and corrupt bedfellows to run the place, which has caused the STC and all other similar state enterprises to fail. It is the way of capitalist govts to milk the state dry in partnership with their corrupt errand boys, ‘until the bones are rotten’ (apologies to Accra Hearts of Oak) or as they have recently confessed, until there is no more meat on the bone. What a shame! Is it not the same Ghanaians who run these companies after they have been privatized? Is it not, most likely, capital from state banks (govt) that these so-called private entrepreneurs apply to revitalize these former state companies for their parochial interests? So what are we doing? Are we not literally cutting our own noses to spite our faces? How can a developing economy survive in this manner? The only way forward, when developing economies apply these kinds of colonial gimmicks is, Im afraid, perpetual under-development and all the terrible inconveniences that come along with it.
Just look at the kind of pathetic interest that SSNIT, an organization that has an 80% share in the STC, has been showing in the management of the company. It is simply because all sorts of small-time inept criminals operating under the cover of politicians have assumed management roles of this very strategic organization. The roll-call of dubious characters that have (mis)managed SSNIT, is endless.
If Mr Peter Hayibor is a General Manager and Counsel for SSNIT, then for Gods sake that organization isn’t going anywhere. If he is a whole General Manger, I can begin to imagine the kind of nincompoops who work at SSNIT, managing our pension funds. I shudder at the kind of mismanagement that is going on there on a daily basis. One would think, from the answers he gave in the article that, Peter Hayibor has not even as much as benefitted from a secondary school education before. Worse of all is that I hear that SSNIT workers are probably the best paid in the country with fanciful perks to boot. Now we know that this is not because of hard work and productivity but because contributions of public workers casually and generously flow in without inept officials like Hayibor raising a finger.
Armageddon beckons.

WHAT WE NEED IS NOT VIOLENT REVOLUTIONS YOU ARE PROPOUNDING, BUT STRENGTHENING OF INSTITUTIONS WHICH WOULD ENSURE THAT CORRUPTION AND INEPTITUDE ARE ELIMINATED FROM SOCIETY.

Oh come on, you really take after what two-faced Obama came and preached to us here in Ghana?
Lets put Obama aside for now. Why do you think that we do not have strong institutions after all these years of independence?
During the 1st Republic Ghana had very strong institutions. Even the now much-abused Ghana Civil Service was adjugded to be one of the finest in the world - the same went for the Ghana Police Service.
Dont you think that it is as a result of the string of weak govts and failed leaders which currently reflects on the poor state of our institutions? There definitely must be a correlation between the two.
How do institutions become strong on their own without the necessary stimulus from a strong leader? It cannot happen.
What we therefore need to do is to identify strong leaders who can hold out on their own and turn things round for the better.
Perhaps aftr the revolutions and Civil revolts we may be lucky enough to inherit a strong leader from the shambles.

without any further delay, govt lawyers should go to court and seize the assets of that Vanef MD, Osei Bonsu to to recoup the money owed to the govt. We should not allow a few greedy individuals to enrich themselves, at the expense of whole country! Had SSNIT taken the trouble to scrutinize details of all the transactions,it is obvious they[SSNIT],would not have had to dole out even a pesewa;and tht is the truth! There are people within SSNIT and elsewhere in govt who were aware of what was going on but, turned a blind eye in return for a cut of this "Awuuf" money. Given all the bureaucratic hoops/processes that have to transpire before funnds are released for even legitimate govt business,it is simply incredible that Vanef`s indebtedness to STC could have escaped detection. Even the idea of paying the so-called deby owed to a personal account, ought to have raised RED FLAGS!!
Much rot in Ghana and at this rate it will take forever to develop the nation.
