The US is like WOUNDED LION so any lest opportunity they get they are going to utilise it and that was exactly what they did. COMMON SENSE CHAPTER 1.Don't even give that flimsy and useless excuse. sit down with your boys watch the game over and over and correct your mistakes very quickly. One good advice is psychology also counts in the game, be wise and tactful. Let the boys know that it is not only good play , they should be strong willed and not be intimidated by any early goals, they mean nothing until you accept they are, as the players did. COACH PSYCHOLOGY IS PART OF THE GAME TO DEMORALIZE THE PLAYERS. They should xwake up from that slumber of early goal sluggishness and complacency and fight all the way to the end of the game.

Hey folks, I have never heard any coach say anything as stupid as this primary school coach, to bring in your best players when you think your opponents are tired, damm,is he watching any of the games?. I do blame his assistant as well, he should know better. In general our boys played an entertaining football, we need to fix our defense, eliminate the age old crossings and I still believe we still have a chance. We got beat but I don't think the US will advance. By the way, I am going to bed empty stomach, have no desire to eat, appetite gone!!!

This is very sad and really very very sad indeed.
An injured player who did not play the last warm-up game cannot be placed in the goal-posts as Ghana's goalie because his timming may be off a couple of notches. What happened to Fatau Dauda?
I am worried that I am worried. We are all in the hands of the coach. He is the commander. He has to teach the players how to shoot from the edge of the penalty box, play with 10 men, and shoot penalties.
On the other hand the Black Stars exhibited flashes of flair but with nothing to show for it. We have succeded in giving the US a good game. Is that our aim? Absolutely not.
I am gonna grab a glass of Captain Morgan's Rum and top it with high octane Montezuma's Gin. But my sadness will not disappear into the spooky doldrums of time.
My spirits were lfted when the scores were 1-1 but woe is the Black Stars. A substitute player's header sealed our doom.
But we shall rise again. We will rise in the early hours of dawn. Victory ,you have eluded us in game one. But you will soon be ours forever.

It is part of the game once you get an L expect all kinds of school of thoughts because now everybody becomes a coach.Let us be frank his strategy to bring in maestros such as Essien and KPB later was a good strategy but the timing was poor in this case at least they should have been brought in getting to the end of the first half or start the second half because when Essien and KPB came on the whole game changed.It seems all our guys really did well except that you could see the lack of wc expie.When Gyan,KPB,Essien,Muntare,K.Asamoah,Dede,Johnathan etc got the ball you could see the confidence and expie but the other ones were a bit off.Gyan was a play maker,striker and everything.I think Jordan needs time may be to mature but for now he is not there yet we kept him in the game for far toooo long.His 3 goals against Korea should not deceive anybody he is just not there yet.Overall all the players put up a good show but it is not about skills and talent but more about being purposeful every journey should always be towards goal because at the end of the day it is all about who got the W and not about who was skillfull.

Why did Appiah not freeze the game and use 5-4-1 when we equalized with 4 minutes left on the clock. Appiah has seen the Serbian win matches by one goal margins.
The US coach was absolutely better on this day than our Silent Killer

It was the Atsu substitution that brought in the wrong person. Adoma is not a Blackstar material let alone to replace Atsu when you have Agyemang Badu and Waris on the bench. KPB did alright but Essien was a right substitution though he had a bad game which even can happen to best of Players.

In two of our friendly matches prior to the world cup, that's the game with Montenegro(not quite sure) and Holland, we conceded goals within the first 5 mins of play, so i was expecting the coach to work on this part of our game. In fact thats the essence of friendly matches. So coach Kwasi Appiah failed to work on the concentration of the players and that prove costly to our chances in this world cup.
I have always doubted the technical ability of the coach and this first match never proved me wrong.
How i wish they can forget about the remaining matches and come back home to save Ghanaians from any heart attacks.

Maybe he brought Adomah to provide the speed but it was the wrong choice when you hsve Badu, Waris and Aquah on the bench.

He realised very early in the first half that the forwards were not making good use of his crosses to the centre. So he began to place them away from the American defence, towards the left hand corner.
Andre Ayew should have been operating there, instead of the left of centre where he was ineffective. In any case in the last WC, he had a roaming role up front and he was very effective. Why was his role changed this time around?
Kevin Boateng ought to replace Jordan behind Asamoah-Djan.
The right side of defence is so weak, if we take that kind of defence to the Germans, they will bury us in goals!!

Opare was terrible. Not a single successful cross. Given that the US packed the middle, our delivery from wide positions were important. Opare just kept wasting possession. John Boye was horrendous.

Let them start and after we've scored the goals, you let them rest for the next match. Now we have the difficult (and nearly impossible) task of beating both Germany and Portugal.
You concede a goal in about 30 seconds after the start of the game, you dominate the match for over 80 minutes before you equalize and concede another goal about 3 minutes later...what kind of a Coach are you? The players were just kicking the ball anyhow around the 18 box and you just looked on....how can you do that?
I said it sometime ago that the fact that Jordan Ayew scored 3 goal in a FRIENDLY match against SOUTH KOREA doesn't mean he should be our "Messiah". You played him as a striker and he was a total waste. World Cup is not a place for "Class 1" Coaches..it's a serious business.

Jordan is leaving in his brother's shadows. My recommendation for him would be to play in a highly competitive league outside of his brother and build his own stature, aura and striking ability. He would be a powerful striker because he has all it takes, has the physique, build and intent. It needs polishing and Ghana would have a striking gem in Jordan never seen before. He needs to move away from the shadow of his brother and give himself 3-4 solid years of active play time, hard work and build his confidence level and Jordan would be unstoppable, goal hungry poacher and merciless striker. His father, brother, team and mentors should do that for him and Jordan would soar. He's Ghana's top striker in 3-4years but the hard work starts now.
Our defense needs tweaking cos we don't seem to have solid goal keepers. So the defense needs to be ironclad. Their focus and concentration should be like a soldier fighting in Afghanistan, where the slightest mistake would get you killed. It was lacking in our defense and AA needs to work on their psyche now for the subsequent games.
The midfield needs an attacking holder who can strike and score as well. AA knows what to do because in the 2nd half the changes he made changed the dynamics of the game and freed up the attacking team to clinch the equalizer.
When the counter came, our defense crumbled so AA, going forward has his job cut out for him.

I have defended Coach Appiah on this forum several times; but I'm not happy with his post-game comments /analysis of Ghana's loss to the USA. A good coach should have a 'killer-instinct' & try to inject the same attitude into his team as a whole. In a match such as world cup opener, you don't want your team to go in there 'sleeping'. Get them prepared from the get go. Start Essien on defence from the get-go. He's the most experienced player in your back four. Why keep him on the bench? Blaming the loss on the team's 'loss of concentration' is very pathetic. It's the coach's job to fire up his team. How can they lose concentration since they've been preparing for this game for the past 2 weeks or more, and especially, since they knew that the USA would coming out blazing from the get-go? Not sure what to expect in Ghana's two remaining games. Too bad when dedicated fans are let down. "GO BLACK STARS GO!!.." Better luck!! in the next game.

I am in full support of the use of a local coach over foreign ones. Appiah's had a vision which no one understands. His game strategy today is the worst I have seen in over 30 years in Ghana's soccer history. Appiah's performance has given his critics plenty reasons to bring back foreign coaches who are overpaid for doing absolutely nothing to improve the quality of soccer in Ghana. In short, Ghana's world cup dream is OVER: there is NO guarantee that we can beat Germany and Portugal. The winner of the US-Ghana game has a better chance moving on. By the way, someone should advice Appiah not to embarrass himself by making comments that would reveal or suggest his immaturity or lack of knowledge in coaching. First, each game begins when the referee blows the whistle and it continues until the end of the game (+ extra time where necessary). Besides, early goals do NOT kill a game if you have a strategy to make good use of the remaining time allowed. Second, successful coaches use their best players in the beginning of the game rather than wait or hope that their opponents will be tired before they allow them to play. Best players lay the foundation for winning but not wait till the last minute to rescue their team. Even if they can achieve this daunting task why wait till the last 30 minutes of the game before your ask for a substitution. Third, Active approach is what wins a world cup but NOT reactive strategy (waiting for your opponents to be tired): there is no guarantee that they will be tired or do not have substitutes to take their place. Coach Appiah, next time begin with your best 11 and you will save yourself and Ghanaians all this frustration and disappointment. Long live Ghana Black Stars.

3. whose idea was it that we work from the flanks go for a cross and aim for a header that is so not our style of play.we wasted exactly 50min of play trying to get a header we obviously not just good in the air, instances gyan had clear two header for goal and it went way wide
advice to appiah our style is such that we work from the midfield create space and go for a shot, just observe the equaliser by dede.

For the second goal, Muntari and Essien stood behind the other and none of the two could jump even 50cm. The ball pass their head and went straight to Brooks. John Boye was just nowhere to be seen. He was lost in action. Our defence is a problem and Essien and Muntari must start from bench. Opare did well but also killed our changes.

You have to move up and down to give instructions to the players as the game dictates, as well as motivate palyers off the field. For example, on the corner kick that led to the winning goal for the US, the goalkeepr should have been instructed to come out and attempt to punch the ball out instead of staying on the line..he has the advantage as the goalie, because obviously he is allowed to use his hands legally. Anyway tough loss, but like we Phobians say, "Never Say Die". There are two games left in group play, starting with "Mighty" Germany. Go Black Stars, make our day on Saturday.
