The Bank of Ghana (BOG) has no Eastern Regional headoffice. I don´t believe that the BOG has accurate data of the economic activity in the at least 12 Akyem districts which make up more than half the population on the region ...

The Bank of Ghana (BOG) has no Eastern Regional headoffice. I don´t believe that the BOG has accurate data of the economic activity in the at least 12 Akyem districts which make up more than half the population on the region. The GDP and GNI of these Akyem districts are very high. They stem from:

Gold mining
Diamond mining
Cocoa
Oil Palm (the largest in West Africa)
Timber
Software development
etc

The money supply and capital in the at least 12 Akyem districts are wholly inadequate. BOG must remove impediments to the setting up of rural banks in these districts and encourage ADB and GCB to open branches in these districts.

The government must further ensure that wholly owned Ghanaian banks, including rural banks, get at least 80% of the banking revenue.

Both major parties are corrupt and their leaders have no honest vision and no goodwill to manage the resources of the nation and help develop Ghana - JUST SHEER TALK!!
They all talk the same game and make promises!
That is why some have described us as "useless and hopeless" and even poor Chinese think they can just come to Ghana and Africa and dig our gold and do as they please by simply bribing our Ministers and Immigration officials and corrupt local Chiefs.
Ghana will be under the rule of the Chinese in 50 years as the $25 billion loans will have been stolen and no infrastructures such as roads and highways or water systems developed for the loans!

If the Govt recoup all the fraudulent judgment debts that it has paid to shoddy characters and companies, that will be more than enough to bail the country out. Until then, no bailout is necessary.

Ironically, each election year also tends to see a weakening of the fiscal position, as it does in many countries, so the window for restoring fiscal balance is closing fast ahead of 2016.

What it takes is the MORAL COURAGE of Government to END the UNDECLARED but OBVIOUS SIDE-LINING of some of its own NDC subscribers who have been TRIED,TESTED and PROVEN and performed to the admiration of ALL Ghanaians, except, of course, the few who would not forgive anyone who dared to stand between them and Govt Money and rather took to peddling FALSEHOODS to discredit these individuals who served their country well.

We keep hearing the name of Spio, and there are many others, whose inclusion, Some think, will do more good than harm. BUT WHO CARES?

Please, for the sake of Saving the Ghanaian Economy from further Sinking and restore the Competence as a Party capable of Managing the Affairs of the Nation, the NDC leadership must go to the archives of its former Governments to bring back to life the proven GAME CHANGERS.

If they don't bring it too, send them packing, because the Mahama led NDC gov't has demonstrated that, they lack the ability to perform and are absolutely and painfully clueless about effective leadership, management and governance, but highly adept at thievery and looting. That does not build a nation, rather it collapses a nation, and the results and evidence are there for all to see, fiili, fiili.

Mahama and his party spent over 3 billion Dollars just to win the 2012 General Elections,throwing all discipline in the Economy overboard.I think they forgot that after wining the elections,you still have to manage the Econmy.But i don`t think NDC as a party is interested in the wellbeing of the citizen hence the corruption which is still going on today.
Untill all political parties will put the interest of the nation first,as why they want power,instead of putting their personal,tribal and party interest above the nation,we shall always move one step forward and five steps backwards.
With all it shortcomings,the Kuffour Government layed a very good foundation for Ghana,all the NDC had to do was to follow that proggramme,but,they chosed to put their party and personal interest before the nation.Now we are all feeling the results.
Ghana is experiencing one of the worst times in any cilivian Government since independence.And there seems to be no relieve in sight.

How much would be spent on fixing it? What would be the ROI on such a project and the cost to the taxpayer? Does the road in any way, shape or form depict that, it was constructed to standards that would make it last for at the minimum of 10years?
The NDC gov't is a drain and a huge waste of our resources and it is imperative that they are voted out.

It was indeed very naive for Ghanaian Economists to deceive the nation and the Presidents to think that oil discovery that estimated would add $1.2 Billion was enough.
With
1. road construction abandoned,
2. loans for water and electricity squandered and diverted,
3. transportation of goods to the ports slowed down,
4. poor planing of energy leading to electricity interruptions of 20-40 or more hours per week,
who do these people think they can fool about Economic growth data?
It was all fake and in their imagination! A ploy to go and borrow or get more grants from the Western nations which eventually would also be diverted into private pockets!
Shame!!

The current crop of politicians reminds me of credit card junkies who borrow to consume only to find out their interest rate is higher when they can least afford to pay.
Time for Ghana to drink the bitter beers of IMF and World Bank if they want the economy to be salvaged.
It is sad that the BoG has to reverse the Forex policy they instituted earlier this year. Well the confidence has already been destroyed so why reverse it ? And the VAT on financial transactions? Dumb! Dumb!!
Why don't you levy a surtax on bank profits? You might achieve they same end? Now you are going to encourage more cash transactions and collect less taxes? When will these learned Economist realize that Ghana's Economy is dis-similar from those of the institutions they got their PhDs from ? My grand father used to say: son when you see common sense being handed out got get some because it is not common. We have destroyed our economy because we thought we were too smart !!

I can bet the Chinese, and the G-8 countries will only throw crumps at Ghana at a high political costs. As they say, there is no such thing as free lunch on this planet earth!!
I hope Fifi Qwetey the political hack at the Presidency is sleeping well these days.
