The issue to fixed meters on electricity poles is not ideal but due to power theft, these measures should be interim whilst a permanent solution is being considered.
Electricity tarrifs are high. There are reports that the government is discriminating against some districts. Some people pay very high tariffs while others pay low. It is said that this is the case even in Accra.

for meters in usa! their should still be fuse or breaker box mounted immediate inside house to protect the circuits..
what about a 'central shed' on poles where various householdes would have their meters placed within a range or ECG recommended 'boxes' in each house for meters. we need serious measures to stop the theft....sorry about that ...

A most uninformed Fire Officer. Is he saying any electrical item installed outdoors catches fire? How about traffic lights, street lights? If he should go to ECG he would see the level of protection given to these meters.

Meters on poles are the best way of preventing meter bypassing.Its done efficiently in Cote divoire and Liberia with prepaid meters.No one goes round to distribute bills.You monitor your own units and buy to recharge before ...

where on earth do u see electricity meters on poles. well as usual only in Ghana.
