These young men will not allow corrupt Ghanaian officials to take them for a ride to pull a fast one on them and that is where the problem lies. Shame on you GFA match fixing and corrupt officials. How come that $3million has to be transported raw cash on a plane to Brazil? Becuase these young men who play fine Soccer don't trust you officials one bit.

Our Football kickers have in their legs what our leaders and politicians do not have in their heads. At least the Black Stars have touted for Ghana at the world Cup. What are our leaders known for? Corruption and bad governance.

Muntari thinks he is too senior or above the rules of the playing body. Ever since the arrival of Kevin Boateng to the team, he is always revolting with him. Last world cup tournament (2010), he insulted some of the younger players and the coach for preferring other players to the "senior" players. When his playing time is over, he would sit back and think about his attitude. For now, I pray that he does not pray in ever becoming a coach.

I have for a long time ago have my reservation about Prince Boateng playing for Ghana. We have a situation in Ghana football where monkey dey work Baboon dey chop. Some of our foreign players do not want to play certain games for Ghana but will want to do so in the African cup or World Cup. I take my cup off for the Abedi Brothers ,especially Dede who will honor every invitation and play his heart out and kill himself on the field to raise the image of Ghana.
If the story of insubordination is true, then it is unfortunate.
Having said that, I blame the GFA officials as partly to blame for such developments. Is there the need to pamper some players because they are foreign based? The method of selection of players to Black Stars Camp should be revisited. There is always the rumour of political influence in selection and invitation to camp. If that is true, then Black Stars officials deserve what they got
If Muntari and Boateng do not play for the team, it shall still be one of the best teams on the continent and that is an achievement.

I wrote this piece before this story broke - I wrote it in in the article "Black stars ready for battle against Portugal" - therefore I have refererred to Essien below, for which I apologise in advance if he is not part of this hulabaloo, however I will reproduce the post again as it is relevant to this article.

1. I agree with the players that they should fight for their money. If they don’t, the corrupt officials will steal all of it.

2. However, there is no need to fly cash to Brazil. The money should be transferred to their bank accounts. They can easily check their bank accounts online to verify that the money has been paid. The stupid comment by AA saying they don’t have Ghanaian bank accounts (in another article) and that is why the money has to be flown in does not hold water.

Paying them via bank transfer will leave an audit trail, and I suspect the officials do not want this, as they have probably taken twice the amount needed to pay the players, and half of it will get "lost" on the way.

3. Nevertheless, Every single time you hear of unrest in the camp, we hear of the same players. Muntari, Essien (not mentioned in this article, but I am assuming he is part of this), KPB. Not far behind is Andre Ayew, and his brother Jordan Ayew.

Essien is old and does not really have much to offer the team since he has not adapted his style of play to suit his ageing years in the way that say, Ryan Giggs has. As such, he should be dropped from the Black Stars set-up all together. He has not got much to offer the Black Stars, and is more trouble than he is worth.

EDIT: If Essien is not part of this wahala, I apologise, however he still needs to be dropped from the team as there is not much he has to offer after this world cup.

Muntari and KPB should be given ultimatums. Either respect the coach, or get-out. I suspect KPB will be gone after this world cup anyway. He should never be invited back if he decides to “retire” again. Muntari would be much calmer without his allies of KPB and Essien, and his trouble making would come down. But even if it does not, it will be easier for AA to handle 1 dissident player than 3. Muntari is still of value to the team.
KPB is of value to the team as well, but will probably go after this world cup.

EDIT: Based on this new development, I doubt we will see KPB again.

Andre should be told that his daddy is not in charge of Black stars, AA is, so he should stop acting like a spoilt brat and listen to what the coach has to say.

Jordan should just be dropped from the set-up altogether. If he keeps on improving, and is a much better player in 2 years’ time, then we can recall him. If Andre wants to follow him, then fine!

It’s a shame this is not club football – I would just have sold all these players above and replaced them with others. Unfortunately, Ghana does not have much choice, and we must keep what we can of these……….. however the dead wood must be shifted on quickly, vit, vit!!

Whether that rebellious attitude is a symptom of innate arrogance and unwillingness to succumb to Authority is a different thing. Many believe Kevin Boateng's decision to play for Ghana was driven more by his rebellion to the German Soccer Authorities than patriotism for Ghana. Now, with this behavior, one could be more inclined to believe that.

There was an earlier indication of displeasure in Kevin with Kwasi Appiah, the Coach, for not starting him in the Stars Game against the USA. And that was when folks should have tried to get them to cool off and work together for the Nation's sake.

However, Muntari has a record of misbehaving and thumbing his nose to Authorities. Wasn't he booted out of the Black Stars for some time, while Kevin was still in the Team?

Many think the Coach did the right thing to sack the Players from Camp. But I have a contrasting opinion. I think the Coach should have considered the ultimate interest of the Nation that sent them and allowed them to contribute their quota to the end of the run before bringing discipline action to bear on them.

Now, with the looming case of fraudulent throwing of the Games against the GFA boss, this dismissal of the two experienced and good players would further complicate matters. It would even create more suspicions as to whether the whole situation has been staged to supply some genuine reason to the Stars' failure to advance. For example, one could wonder if the Coach himself hadn't been influenced by the implicated GFA bosses to create the condition for the rebellion and the subsequent Stars failure, assuming the Stars were to lose their game against Portugal.

Another source of suspicion would be whether the two sacked Players had some hint of what was going on behind the scenes to cause the Stars' failure, citing the reason why Kevin was not started in the USA-Ghana Match, as a deliberate part of the scheme.

Now, how do we know whether Kwasi Appiah was not ill-advised by the possibly fraudulent and implicated GFA to sack the two players ahead of the Portugal Game so that if we lost they could blame the two players for causing the loss.

What a mess!! Kwasi Appiah must pray that the Stars win the Portugal Match or he would be drawn into this mess of Game buying fraud, even if he was not part of the scheme.

And Muntari is old enough to learn to be a better human being, not easily swayed by others to misbehave.

Besides, I fault our own higher National Management Outfits, like even the Sports Ministry, for the persistence of such eruption of indiscipline among our Players. You may not like to project this attitude further up. But our Players are not dumb. They are capable of deciphering the signals and choosing to use them to their advantage, whatever that might be. If the GFA were any cleaner, more forthright, has impeccable integrity and Officials who comport themselves well enough, we would not be facing this kind of behavior for this long. Now, we have the GFA under international legal scrutiny for allegations of fraudulently selling our Games to some crooked Gamblers abroad. How helpful an environment does that create for Players like Muntari hovering on the periphery of discipline?

And to Kevin Prince Boateng, he ought to realize that the failure of Black Stars to emerge victorious in the Games, would not hurt him as much as his part in the breakdown of discipline in the Black Stars, and his resultant sack. Now, whether he likes it or not, his younger brother who chose to remain with the Germans would be seen as better behaved, and more disciplined than he is, and considered more reliable a person than he is. It is a kind of silent competition that he might not want play out to the World as this incident is doing.

And the Germans would have a reason to say: "We told you so.."

Thanks, I share your views. If indeed the 2010 allowances have not been paid since then and one stupid money-bag says something to the contrary, Muntari is dead right and on target for boxing the swine.

The controversies that have surrounded Ghana's participation in this mundial has been most unfortunate. The psychological impact on the players and the management team and it's effect on their performance going into such a crucial duel with the A Selecção cannot be overemphasized.
The sacking of Muntari and KPB for whatever reasons further complicates matters, not to talk of the media uproar on the information superhighway concerning appearance fees which has attracted worldwide attention and also the match-fixing scandal that has rocked the FA.
The BS and Coach AA before they step onto the field today, are already in a tough battle and it would be interesting to watch how the players perform under such circumstances.
Not holding out much hope on this one although it would have been the easiest duel for Ghana to sail through. However, I believe the BS are capable of surmounting challenges and I am counting on them to put this behind them and eke out a win, although it looks rather difficult from all that has transpired within this short period of time.
The gov't has let down the squad, the Sports Ministry and the FA have not been on top of issues after having had the experience of participating in quite a number of world tournaments and it is an indictment, a huge indictment on football administration in the country.

Shame on you KPB: Sulley Ali Muntari was always a trouble maker in the black stars camp, very disrespectful, ignorant arrogant person saved by football, now his time in the stars is forever over. The President should use this glorious opportunity to 'clean-house' at the GFA and the Sports Ministry respectively. First off,he should dispatch Afriyie Ankrah to the party headquarters to work on his re-election campaign; while taking full advatange of the certain public backlash against Kwasi Nyantakyi to dislodge that arrogant and corrupt GFA boss. Three WCs under his leadership is enough for one individual! He should return to his 'law practice',and leave the scene for those who`ll produce results we can all be proud of!

Ghana's inability to equalised America's goal was due to Jordan for tapping instead of shooting into the hand of the American goalie.
In the German game, instead of passing to Asamoah who was unmarked but in direct scoring position, he selfishly went for goal with a lacklustre attitude and the result is what we all see now. We hope the Germans defeats the Americans and ghana also found great scoring opportunities against the Portuguese or we say goodbye , come another 4 years in Qatar!

Ghana is the only country among the World Cup competing Nations to be so exposed for her Corruption gone wild. This seems to reflect the very rot that is fast eating the core of our Nation's Administration, and causing massive erosion of our Economic strength.

The allegation of corruption against the GFA boss in which he is accused of having received monies to induce the failure of the Black Stars, coupled with what is unfolding in the Stars' Camp, has not only tainted the Nation's image, embarrassed every Ghanaian, and exposed the Mahama Administration to the World as bereft with looters, but also sucked the hope of our younger generation to showcase their talents abroad out of them.

This is the only time I have been slightly moved to favor an impeachment against our President. Mahama may be as clean as whistle. But he seems to have lost any control over his Administration to instil discipline and integrity into our Government. The shameful behavior is now spilling all over the Globe.

Some would question how the behavior of a few Ghanaians in a Soccer program be used to judge the Government in Power. Well, the fact is that the whole 2014 Black Stars World Cup campaign has been enshrouded in conflict and suspicion of corruption, even before the Team took off to Brazil.

We never heard the President call his Ministry of Sports to order to clean up the brewing mess before beginning the trip. I remember some Radio Talk-Shows on which Jamil, a Deputy Minister of Sports, was interviewed and taken to task on the confusion of Financing figures for the Trip to Brazil. What I took away from the Show was that the Deputy Minister did not have convincing figures to calm the worries of those asking the questions.

Then, there were issues on how the supporters for the Black Stars were selected, and how some could get visas to travel but not the approval of the Sports Ministry to travel with the Stars.

As in some previous similar cases, the Current Ministry of Sports seems to be a major source of leakage of State Funds. Various Officials of the Ministry , especially the GFA Officials, seem to see the Ministry as a cash-cow for themselves and their cronies, to the detriment of the Country.

Maybe, we ought to merge the entire Sports Ministry into others, where gross fraud and corruption may be minimized.

About two years ago, I read in the news paper the fact that Togbe Afede had led some Ewe chiefs to agree with some Chinese to take a vast Volta land including some parts of the Volta lake to rare rabbits, goats and tourism etc. the Chinese were to invest $121m and take over these lands for a minimum of 30 years. When I analyzed, the Chinese were paying about $10per acre per year for the number of hectares of land they were going to control. Ghanaians only care about NPP NDC so some chiefs are taking advantage of the ignorant majority to enslave and profit from their people. Why can't the govt use some oi
Money to develop specific regions such as the Volta? We visited an elephant park in South Africa and it cost us $45 to see the elephants and an additional $50 to sit on a baby elephant. Ghanaians decided to scatter our zoo just to build a presidential palace. When will we wake up from our sleep? When will our leaders show strategic thinking? Nkrumah saw the need to build dams, harbors, airlines, shipping lines, motor way, universities many decades ago. What vision will our leaders think generationally? Do a few chiefs have any right to sign such agreements and give lands out this way? How will profits be shared? What are the guidelines? Who will audit these Chinese people and know what kickbacks are flying? The Chinese took over the only high rated star hotel in Sierra Leon and all they have done is to hang their red balloons there and are just creaming off. They have one Chinese woman at the front desk collecting money and they use a few staff who clean from morning till late evening. They pay these workers about $50 a month. These guys will come in the make of creating jobs but will just milk our land and enslave our youth. They know there is oil in Volta and some of these agreements will only make it easy for them to get a foothold. Who is thinking about Ghana?

Most leaders cannot stand confident workers, these guys are heavily rich and see themselves above the clouds, you must treat them with open mindedness and make excuses for them, they are coached by world class coaches, they definitely may look down on local coaches, the local coaches must build their confident levels and not be petty over disciplinary issues, these local coaches must separate personal issues from on the job issues, they always want to show their powers by suspending these players, they are good excellent and rich and they must be treated as such. I don't think they should have been sacked, these guys live in societies where they express themselves freely and we must embrace that or we will never have an influential local coaches, they must build their confidence level and stop being petty, short sighted,shallow minded, the local coaches must be internationally minded, respect is relative and if a player expresses himself he must not be sacked, if he asked why he was taken out you as a coach you should explain to him and give him a pat on the back, Kwasi Appiah grow up, you must learn to relate with these international players you cannot have only local players in your team. shame on you, you are not coaching local players, you are coaching international stars of international repute.

We have also watched a film "how to fix a football match" involving some officials of the GFA recently and no one has spoken about this and we wonder has that got to our losing to the US?? Then we read about huge amount of moneys being flown to Brazil to pay players and officials, what in this modern world? I think we need a vigorous system of payment for the teams-players and officials. The players and officials must sign an agreement and a code of conduct as they are representing the country, besides we need competent people rather than party patriots who are appointed as ministers of state, - this is a clear case of incompetence. I also ask myself is Ghana degenerating into a state of lawlessness or this is just a sign of incompetent from our leaders???

WHY CANNOT WE EVOLVE TO ACCEPT AND PROCESS HUMAN DISCREPANCIES? All peoples, all continents, all countries have groups and individuals with massive discrepancies and even mutual opposed interests.

But it would seem ONLY AFRICA IS UNABLE TO COPE WITH THEM, TO ACCEPT DIFFERENCES, TO ACCEPT FRUSTRATIONS at any degree.

To find a system to regularise, to process, to calmly canalise differences.

First of all that news of the big players was bound to ruin team harmony, because news media would play it over and over again and make the team lose concentration. He shouldn't have sent those 2 guys home. He should actually have used them in the game.

Remember how Mourihno used to handle Balotelli? They would argue, he would make him start on the game on the bench probably thinking since he had a fight with the coach he wouldn't get to play, but amazingly Mourinho would at some point put him in the game, and he would many times core goals.

Your coach coach seems to be super emotional. He shouldn't have sent the guys away. Deal with such trouble after the tournament.

Another issue the airlifting money thing? Man don't you guys have a M-Pesa like mobile money service in Ghana. It's just embarrassing to airlift 3 Million $ in this digital World. Your Soccer leaders need to style up.

The woes of Ghana not proceeding to the next level hangs on the head of the GFA officials. Get rid of all of them. Show a good example of what happens to corrupt officials of the state. Mr. President, if you are serious about dealing with corruption in Ghana, this is a good point to start from.
