He must learn to be modest in his contributions without being unnecessary alarmist.These alarmist stance and extremist views are always a turn off.

Dr. Ampaw ought to spend his time debating and debasing the constitution document and not how it affects some preferred institution(s). Ghanaians with post graduate degrees along with our political elite and the many a dime a dozen lawyers in Ghana help put the constitution in place. It is the very same people we hold up as elders and we mourn in style even in their death. Yet it is that very sorry constitution that gave unlimited powers to the president thus makes the presidency so desirable people get reduced to animals in Ghana in search of the presidential powers.
Readers and the likes of Dr. Ampaw must understand there is no amount of conspiracy or diabolical acts that can get a principled person removed from office especially the judiciary because the judiciary, as an elite institution, at its best takes roots and umbrage from case precedence. Those political parties who act as the gods of Ghana and their appointees through cronyism, nepotism and tribal loyalties are the ones who have something to fear because there is always a payback. Principled people with love for Ghana have nothing to fear; not their jobs and not from diabolical conspirators.

The reason why coups are made, are for the fact that everything else has failed, so to assert that, the change of those clauses in our constitution will firmly secure the Judiciary is like saying that, the coup makers will allow the government they have overthrown to still be in office.
It is totally absurd and stupid and that any change in the constitution will protect the judiciary from being thrown out of office if the coup he referred to were to have happened. We live to see.

That the CJ can be removed by a president who appointed her is a safeguarding measure that will deter her from abusing her office. If the president can act alone by removing the CJ following a petition, I will have a problem with that. But I believe safeguarding measures have been put in place by the very fact that any such decision to remove a CJ must first be supported by a petition and the petition must be subject to a judiciary process led by two supreme court judges. we have to assume our judges will be fair unless we have a compelling reason to believe otherwise. Dr Ampaw's views are rather cynical. As with every other public servant, the president should be able to remove the CJ if her position becomes untenable.
if the president is diabolical in his actions, nothing stops the affected person from seeking a judicial review. afterall, the president can only act on the recommendation of two supreme court judges. That is why we have a justice system and we can only have confidence in our judges. That some people may be treated unfairly does not mean the constitution has to change to make their position ingrained even in the face of wrong doing. it is the principle that justice may not sometimes seen to be done that make the whole justice system necessary.
Like any other senior civil servant, the CJ can be hired and fired by the Head of State and commander in chief, the president of the Republic. The CJ has no special place different from persons such as the head of the electoral commission, the armed forces, the police etc.

There are a lot of entrenched provisions in our constitution that needs to be looked at and amended to address the true independence of our institutions and secondly, to obliterate completely the quasi-undemocratic military dictatorship kind and type of governance and democracy being practiced in Ghana with a lot of powers concentrated in the Presidency, which makes our institutions essentially bootlickers and sycophants of the executive, as opposed to their true independence based on sound principles, integrity and excellent judgment all geared towards the right and proper management and administration of our nation state.
We have a quasi-military dictatorship not a true reflective democracy based on our constitution drafted basically for the head of the military junta leader Jeremiah Rawlings and this needs to be addressed to reflect proper democratic ideals where there's true separation of powers and their unalienable right to true independence to perfect our democracy in our body polity.

I aggree with Don King with his accession that nobody is above the law that when the chief justice is found incompetent and corrupt, but failed to say the same to the president of the state when he or she is found in the same situation.It must be recalled that the head of state of the smc Government led by General JA Ankrah in 1967 or so, was forced to resign when he was found curropt by accepting bribe from a Nigerian bussiness man called Nzeribe. By the present constitution with the immunity powers as a cover against prosicuting sitting and past Presidents for the same offences which can force the chief Justicee to be dismissed but fails to apply the same against presidents. It is quite unfair and undemocratic.
