Kevin-Prince Boateng has hit back at the Ghana Football Association after being sent home early from the World Cup, describing the Black Stars’ organisation during the tournament in Brazil as “amateurish”.

The Schalke midfielder and team-mate Sulley Muntari were expelled from the Ghana squad on the day of their final match against Portugal after Boateng was accused of making “vulgar verbal insults” towards coach James Appiah. Muntari was also accused of an “unprovoked physical attack” on a member of the Ghana FA, with both players asked to leave the camp before the 2-1 defeat to Portugal in Brasília which consigned them to bottom spot in Group G.

Boateng – who only returned to the Black Stars’ set-up last year having retired from international football after the last World Cup – is now back at his home in Germany. In an interview with newspaper Bild published on Sunday, he accuses the GFA of having failed to live up to promises it made to him before the tournament.

“Everything – the hotels, the flights – everything was amateurish,” he said.

“The GFA president visited me in Milan begging me to play for Ghana again. He gave me his word that we would have better travel, better organisation and preparation. He has not kept his word. In the end I was just still dissatisfied.

“It was a nightmare from the first day of the preparation to the end,” Boateng added. “We flew to the first training camp from Amsterdam to Miami. However, we travelled in two groups, since there was no space. One group flew through Atlanta, the other New York. We sat for around nine hours at the airport - a total of 19 hours on the road.

“The flight from Miami to Brazil a week later took 12 hours and we sat and concentrated in economy class. The legs ached. It sounds strange for an average citizen, but for a competitive athlete that is a disgrace. The Ghana FA president sat in business class with his wife and two children. And then in Brazil, we finally had a charter flight but my luggage was lost. Two days without football boots – it was a disaster.”

Appiah was the first homegrown coach to lead Ghana to a World Cup. But asked his opinion on whether he had a clue about tactics, Boateng gave a less than ringing endorsement. “No. But I have respect for him [as a] person,” he said. “I have always behaved positively. But if someone asks me about him, whether he is a good coach, I’d say no.”

Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama spoke with captain Asamoah Gyan on the telephone to resolve a dispute over player bonuses ahead of the Portugal match, with $3m in cash flown to Brazil on a private jet. However, Boateng claimed that was only the tip of the iceberg in terms of issues that dogged the squad.

He said: “That was the smallest problem. Everything had accumulated over a month. It was pure disaster. Poor training conditions and sleep options, I just wonder where all the money was flowing too.

“The association get so much money from sponsors and Fifa - it was certainly not used for hotels, flights, the team and the preparation.”

Boateng also insisted that there was a lack of team spirit among the squad in direct contrast to the last World Cup in South Africa, when Ghana came within a missed penalty of becoming the first African nation to reach the semi-final.

“We were not a real team. Everyone was busy with themselves,” he said.

“There were two or three players who were just glad Sulley Muntari and I were suspended. They said it to my face. We all know that I have never insulted the coach. Nevertheless, they have turned the manager against Sulley and me. I am very calm and relaxed, because I definitely know that I did no such thing.

“I have represented my opinion. There was no player who was happy. We had 100 meetings with the delegation. We told them that we need tens of change things. because of this I am an easy victim.”

What is emotion?

It is better if Ghana did not qualify for the next world cup so that those officials will not have the chance again to go to Russia and benefit from you.

The govt. of Ghana has no wisdom. The country is managed by unqualified corrupt men and women who have no heart for the well-being of the country.

If you had not stood up and slapped one of the officials whose presence is to make money the 3million would never have been paid to any of you.You now know how corrupt ghana has become.

What is the wisdom in this: they charttered a plane, burnt fuel and paid 17%tax to the Brazilian govt.

Such tax money could have been used to pay for the food cost at deaf and blind schools so that they have proper meals everyday. Well done Sulley!!

A young Marine and his commanding officer climbed on board a train headed through the mountains of Switzerland. The only place they could find to sit was right across the aisle from a young woman and her grandmother.

After a while, it became obvious that the young woman and the young soldier were interested in each other, but the young woman kept glancing nervously at her grandmother.

Soon the train passed into a pitch black tunnel. There was the sound of a passionate kiss followed by the sound of a stinging slap. When the train emerged from the tunnel, the four sat there without saying a word.

It is very sickening to observe where our country is heading to. It is ver sickening because people are praising Sulley Muntari for such an act of misbehaviour. I am not holding any brief for any official for any act of commission or omission, what I seek to put across is that authority must be respected. Authorities are put in place to ensure that there is always orderliness for human institutions to thrive. In every situation there are always channels for resolving grievances.

Why should Muntari slap the official without reporting his conduct to another official within the hierarchy of authority? For people to be supporting Muntari for such an unruly behaviour calls into question the kind of future we desire for our country.Are we supporting him because he is our idol or what? We must always call a spade a spade and not any thing else.

When the FIFA money comes then they find reasons why they should keep the money without rendering accounts to any one. How are we sure Nyantakyi and co. didn't fix the Ghana-USA match? After all he was busy fixing matches in a 5-star hotel in the US. It's a shame! Time was when football was a game now it is stinking money business especially for corrupt officials through to the top at FIFA. Abnormal behavior can sometimes be justified by provocation. Let's see if GFA will allow the president to probe the issues. I can bet they will say it is against FIFA rules.

To be able to solve a problem, you must first come to identify the problem(diagnoses in the world of science),identify it effects and proceed with the solution (hopefully, long lasting solution).
Ghanaians, have been glued to the syndrome of darring to question whatever anyone condsidered to be in authority hands down to us, hence our continued failure and the mess that we find ourselves.
What led to the fracas in the national soccer team in Brazil? I was not there and therefore can't tell;but from the look of things, it seems lack of proper planning could be a contributing factor.The put this,right at the door of the mafia cats at the GFA including its president Mr. Nyantakyi, who seems to be acting like a tin God.
Also from the look of things, there seems to be too much out side influence when it comes to selection to the national team.Is there the invicible hands of some club executives pushing for their favourites to be show cased probably to land overseas contract? I am for any Ghanaian player plying his trade in an overseas countries since that is the market the pays well for their profession.However, selection to the national team must be based on merit.
When it comes to criticism of Sulley,I'll make a humble appeal to his critics including Alahaji Grunsah for a restrain, since this young man's future lies in his own hands.You don't want to see a player like Sulley,travelling to other developed countries working for $10.00 an hour at the end of his soccer career, like some of our players from the good old years are doing now.
Investigate the GFA,their activities in the light of the resources available to them.
Stop beating on the players!!!!
