When is someone going to make him and his bunch of incompetents accountable. When he talks discipline, he must include the GFA too. They lack the discpline for doing the work for which they are paid. Unless they show some discipline regarding sports management competence , it is all hot air or whooey. Is anyone in the GFA qualified in sports management. If not, not surprising they could not see the coming of potential problems. The days of managing Ghana soccer a la Ohene Djan, does not and will not work in these days soccer. That is why Gas in general don't rush to be presidents in Ghana because they know that leadership must account for their actions.
Again in Japan, there is similar leadership accountability cultures where you have to execute yourself for failure with your own sword while sitting down and reflecting on your failure.
For these I recommend that some of this cultures have to be really considered in our constitutions to enable proper accountability.
I also think that the GFA does not have any respect for the
President,
Parliament,
Judiciary,
and entire Ghanaians.
Because we have sent you to go and represent us in a battle. You lost everything and when you came, you decided to award yourself contracts and and gold for failure without reporting to those of us who sent you there. This is a very serious issue and must be looked at.

I live in Toronto. Sending money to my little village in the Brong Ahafo region has been made easier, faster, simpler and even more convenient by money transfers. The government is not aware of this? My gracious Lord, save Ghana. This is the "stupidest" (apologies to William Shakespeare) thing any government could do. And we have done that in Ghana of all places. The British say "God save the queen". We in Ghana say "God save Ghana" - the whole nation - but please God, start from the leaders for they are not leading".

Essien has been on the bench at Chelsea and Milan for long periods and have never shown any signs of disobedience. Boateng is a hothead but to insult his coach, please? Muntary has been indisciplined before but to punch, hmmm, the provocation must be very strong.
We went to a FOOTBALL world cup and the most important people were the footballers whether you like it or not.(The whole world saw Suarez bite Chielini but the Uruguayans saw it differently and blame FIFA instead). This is the attitude which is lacking in the Ghanaian establishment. Did I read a headline "we gave them an inch and they took a mile" or something of the kind.
The GFA and the technical team led by the coach made themselves more important than the players (and may be this kind of attitude always happen)and so the players who've been there before sensed it and decided enough is enough.
Indiscipline and disharmony caused France the last time but now look at where they are. The coach and the team are one. Hey don't just feed us with what happened. Be honest to Ghana & Ghanaians. Look critically at the causes, set out good groundrules,ensure strict implementation and you'll see progress.

Even while coach Kwasi Appiah and his technical team arrived in Brazil, they didn't seem certain about any good strategy to win their very first match against the United States; they were still experimenting. No wise and competent coach would deploy a new player like Daniel Opare as a defender who hadn't been well tested prior to playing such an important match. No wonder he didn't and couldn't defend when his services were needed most--he strangely made way for Dempsey to score within the very first seconds of the match!

Similarly, no competent coach would bench three of his most experienced and best players like Michael Essien and Kevin Prince Boateng and bring them in only for the last 20 minutes of the match. Every wise and efficient coach would introduce his best players from the word go to ensure that they win such a crucial match first before deciding to rest them. How stupid to hear coach Appiah say that he had intended to bring them in when the Americans were tired. What arrant nonsense!

The worst and foolish decision the coach and his Technical Team made was the expulsion of Sulley Muntari and Prince Boateng in the morning of that Thursday that Ghana played against Portugal.

I'm not against disciplining any player who misbehaves. What I'm concerned about is the timing of the execution of the decision. Why couldn't Mr. Appiah and his Technical Team exercise restraint and wait until after the match, or even after the tournament, before disciplining the players. The timing of the implementation of the decision was simply unwise. It was a reckless exercise of power.

Once the coach and his Technical Team expelled those two senior players, they had immediately effectively spelt the Black Stars' doom. Appiah and his Technical Team members must have known better, that that ill-fated action they took that Thursday morning immediately must have demoralised the junior players, who must have been looking up to them for direction, confidence and encouragement. Having been former Black Stars players themselves, did Appiah and his Technical Team members not know this simple psychology about players? How did they expect them to concentrate well enough to play the match seriously to win? If the players were expected to play as a team, how could they maintain and uphold that ohjective if two of their most senior and experienced members were expelled just before the match? Is it any wonder that they couldn't defeat Portugal, although all ESPN and beIn Sports commentators and analysts had predicted a win by Ghana v. Portugal.

Let me say once again that Appiah's decision to expel those two senior players that Thursday morning prior to the Ghana-Portugal match that afternoon was a very unwise one. That no doubt contributed greatly to the Stars' mediocre performance against Portugal. The Portuguese were not better than Ghana's Black Stars. The Americans were even worse, but because of poor management by you and your coach, we lost to them.

Just imagine how the Black Stars had performed so wonderfully well against their German counterparts a few days earlier. And they could even have defeated the Germans had some of the players like Jordan Ayew hadn't been so selfish by deliberately failing to pass the ball to two of his colleagues who'd expected him to do so for them to score, and had not the referee not been unfair to Ghana when, for example, he failed to award a penalty to Ghana when Asamoah Gyan's jersey was held and pulled down by a Germany defender. Here again, the coach didn't act like a coach. Other coaches are often seen protesting loudly to the referees when they realise their teams aren't being treated fairy. But Kwasi Appiah kept silent with his suit on in that hot weather and didn't react one way or another.

It's against this backdrop that your announcement that 'the management team reposes confidence in coach Kwasi Appiah to continue his job and build a stronger Black Stars team' and that 'he will be expected to apply the strict criteria of competence in selecting or maintaining players for the team' is quite appalling.

It's amazing that you don't seem to realise that coach Appiah's player selection and his reckless exercise of power were responsible for the Black Stars' abysmal performance in Brazil. Weren't you the President of GFA when you dismissed the last Serbian coach because of his failure to win the Africa Nations Cup? Why don't you apply the same yardstick in judging Appiah's performance? Is Appiah's performance not worse than the two Serbians', one of whom (Milovan Rajevac) took the Stars to the quarter-final stage of the World Cup while the other led them to the fourth position in the last AFCON?

Mr. Nyantakyi, please be objective and fair to yourself and to your country Ghana and Ghanaians. If I were you, I'd myself resign first and not merely apologise to Ghanaians, especially in view of the serious match-fixing allegation made against you and your other colleagues. That's what Europeans and Americans honourably do. What a shame!

If they asked you to pay them their bonus money for participating in the Mundia at Brazil, all you need to do is pay them. Why did you take so many none footballers to Brazil, who work at the GFA? You are the indiscipline person that must be booted out first. I urge the President of Ghana to sack all the GFA staff including the Coach, Kwasi Appiah. They must all go, because most Ghanaians have no confidence in them any more. The do not trust them any more. No player needs to sign a contract of discipline. Discipline is implied when a person is called to play for the nation. When I hear leaders trying to regulate behaviour contractually it leaves much to be desired. I will like to see how the contract is going to be formulated. Will the contract deal with GFA failure to pay players appearance fee? GFA got millions of dollars from FIFA. FIFA rule forbids govts to involve in the running of football associations. And therefore, I do not see why the GFA not to release the FIFA money to the players. Is the GFA trying to buy the conscience of players? Nyantekyi has now crossed rubicon of common sense. There are 98 comments on this site. 99% of comments are not in his favour.

In my job at the U.S we do ANNUAL COURSE ON ETHICS to ensure that no bribery, things that could result in CONFLICT OF INTEREST ARISE, NOT EVEN GIFT ACCEPTED (if at all it shouldn't be more than $10 and not regularly/coersed or manipulated, not from same source) etc, etc. This is what have to be inculcated into the Ghanaian culture. But the reverse is the case and when people cannot take it any longer they resort to VIOLENCE. STOP THE CORRUPTION AND MALTREATMENT OF YOUR CITIZENRY AND THESE ACTION WILL STOP OR AT LEAST MINIMIZE.

Michael Essien has urged Ghana's Football Association to "tell the truth" after he was accused of misconduct prior to the team's final group game against Portugal at the World Cup.

The AC Milan man is reported to have refused to warm up ahead of the game, which ended 2-1, and the case is now being reviewed by the nation's FA after coach Kwesi Appiah cited the episode in his technical report.

The ex-Chelsea midfielder has urged “decent dialogue” to resolve issues over appearance fees and training ground indiscipline instead of “destructive and vicious attacks and counterattacks on individual members of the team."

He said in a media statement: “I hold the view that we can investigate and resolve these issues without further destroying the team. I therefore urge all of us who continue to make public comments on the team’s painful experience of leaving the tournament as early as we did to be circumspect in our discourse.

“I also urge all involved to please remain calm and allow state authorities interested in investigating the issues at stake to do their jobs without any interference and come out with the truth. It is only then that we can learn from our mistakes and reform all aspects of our preparations for major football tournaments in order to restore the pride and glory of Ghanaian football. I strongly believe that it is absolutely the right thing to do for the good and prosperity of our nation's football.”

Essien added: “It is in keeping with the positions stated above that I have decided to refrain from responding to the GFA’s allegation that I had displayed acts of indiscipline before and during the Portugal game in Brazil. In deciding not to respond to the allegations, I am convinced that in the fullness of time, all the facts surrounding the entire episode will become public for the good people of Ghana to judge my guilt or otherwise.”

Kevin-Prince Boateng was sent home from the competition for an alleged verbal attack on Keshi, while Sulley Muntari was also ordered to leave the camp over a reported unprovoked assault on a Ghana official.

The African nation finished fourth in Group G with just a point and failed to make it to the knockout stage of the competition for the first time in the last three World Cups.
