Constitution cannot be amended easily so please take care. 48 hour detention is without trial but 90 days detention is with trial and requires approval from higher authority. The two are not the same.

It is punishment awarded to those soldiers who are found guilty of an offence for which a punishment of DETENTION is prescribed by the AFA. Prof you need to learn further.

2.when ku4 was the president, he made a very sad mistake when he formed a committee to investigate the 9th may stadium disaster. he failed to include the police and the military on the committee. he used civilians headed by lawyer sam okudjetoe to do the job and came out with a very poor work. none of okudjetoe's committee members knew about crowd control. the police and the military would have been in a better position to assist them do a better committee work and come out with the best recommendation for action to be taken. that Sam okudjetoe's work was like they were specifically instructed to do a lazy work in order to throw dust into the eyes of Ghanaians. were they directed to cover some mysteries?

The word detention used in the Armed Forces Act do not connote the everyday detention. In the Armed Forces before somebody could be detained for more than 48 hours, it means the person has been tried by a properly constituted board and is found guilty before the appropriate punishment based on the punishment guide which is also spelt out in the AFA is applied. In event that a soldier is sent to the Guard Room without a holding charge, the guard commander is mandated to release the alleged accused within 48 hours in consonant with the provisions of the Constitution. I will please entreat the good old Prof to do extensive consultation with the GAF before coming out with any proposals.
