What you need to do is to put things in perspective and in their right contexts. I have seen people comment that the fact that Corruption exists today, any intervention in the past to arrest similar situation, like the June 4th uprising intended doing, was unjustified.

Like the Dr. said, the intent of the June 4th was good, and the whole revolution might have started well but the mistakes we all acknowledge followed dampen the quality of the revolution's achievements. The Dr. and others who think similarly as he do not necessarily endorse the evils that accompanied the revolution. But the reasons and purpose of it must be noted as deserving of the pervasive corruption and chaotic environment the Nation was in at the time. Corruption in the days leading to the June 4th was blatantly perpetrated by our rulers with impunity, and pervasive in our Society.

To those who render the June 4th unnecessary because the magnitude of whatever Monies were involved in the perceived corruption of those days pale in comparison to what are involved in today's corruption, I would say that it is not just the amount of Monies but their effects on the Nation's Economy and people's lives that mattered.

Besides, C5.00 in 1978-79 would value much, much more in today's rating, even if we factor in inflation alone. Surely, if it were not for the fact that our Military might, now, be transformed to consider Coups as retrogressive to our overall progress, the current level of Corruption would be ample reason for some Military leader to usurp the Government, and deal harshly with its members, probably worse than J. J. and his crew did.

However, the Politicians are having a field day, now, because of the fact that Coups are no more attractive to Ghanaians to seek redress in governance. There is nothing that effectively deters these insensitive kleptocrats from Corruption, today. So, the Dr.'s opinion is valid.

We should all remember that the fact crimes get repeated over and over again does not mean we should not have legally processed and punished those who commited them earlier. What we need to do is to find out why the crimes recur, and what we can do to minimize them, and make them less attractive to potential perpetrators.

Arthur Kennedy, what did June 4 uprising achieve? The intent and the ideals of June 4 and December 31 were what we witnessed. Don't say it was implement wrongly. It wasn't at all. Read some scripts from Kofi Awoonor and others, and tell the whole world that June 4th was wrongly Implemented.

Did you consider the victims of these evil revolutions led by hater J.J. Rawlings before this comment? If it has been in the united States or any of the developed world, your presidential aspiration will never be realized because of this comment.

You are crazy that up to now a person like you haven't realized the intents of J.J. Rawlings and his Ewes in forcing these murderous revolutions on Ghanaians.

In Universities campus, Ewes students were the forefront of all students uprising against previous military regimes. Did you see a single Ewe who supported students uprisings against most repressive regime of J.J. Rawlings government? I am not trying to pitch against Ewes. I am just reporting what we have witnessed since inception of P/NDC.

To the point, Arthur Kennedy should know that the sharp ethnic segmentation we have in Ghana now is the results of June 4th and December 31, revolution. Even if this tribal favoritism did exist, it was very minimal unlike what Rawlings revolution has brought to Ghana today. Go to the ministries, police, the army, banks, political appointees, you will understand what i am saying. In essence, the June 4th you miss so much was brought by J.J. Rawlings just to segment Ghana. You don't know much despite your doctorate.No one will live in peace if this trend of destruction of Ghana's economy continues.

The leader of June 4th uprising was J.J. Rawlings. May be, you have forgotten. He is the most undisciplined leader the world has ever had. He has no respect for anybody. He smokes 'wee', he is a womanizer just like John Mahama, he killed his political enemies without mercy. He even killed a student on allegation that that student was planning to overthrow his government.

Arthur Kenned, have you forgotten the terror June 4th and December 31st brought to Ghana? You did not mention December 31. However, once you have endorsed June 4th, you have endorsed December 31st too. The only thing that stopped Rawling from launching his full revolution in June 4th uprising was the election Ghanaians have done to elect Limann. Other than that, we would have seen the full revolution from June 4th.

Arthur Kennedy, real politics is not for kids. at times swallow your own sentiments. Your comments are damning to your reputation. I don't know how I can trust you again. If somebody from NPP will endorse Rawlings destruction of Ghana, I was not expecting you. You made me sad.

Arthur kennedy, please, don't disgrace yourself. Every bad thing including, armed robberies, murdering, moral decadence, corruptions, stealing and looting on the part of NDC governments are fruits of June 4th uprising as someone mentioned in his post.

In fact, Dr. Arthur Kennedy it is true that the questions I posed to you above are sincere and have no animosity because every country as you know has its own history and Ghana has her own history and history is the record of accounts of events of the past that also served as guide to the present and future so that mistakes of the past are not repeated.
It is at these related backdrop that H.E. former President of Ghana Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings on this basis led Ghana to enact and adopt the 1992 constitution for Ghana and was also overwhelmingly accepted by the people of Ghana in a referendum and the constitution has been working since 1992 and for the first time in the history of Ghana that government changing hands through the ballot box and that even brought the NPP government to power in 2001-2008 and therefore the people of Ghana to be allowed the opportunity Ghana 1992 constitution holds for them to work.
That democracy and its smart dispensation is the "order of the 21st century world".

I am not surprised at all because if y ou look at what some of the npp activists and gurus are doing and saying nobody will tell where they are heading to.Let me remind you that it's always thé opposition parties that influence soldiers to take over civilian administration.It's rather unfortunate for npp,a party that brags about democracy and at the same time instigating military govt.Remember,anytime military takes over,their first statement is the suspension of the constitution.The functions of govt have been taken over by npp chaired by Kobina Kennedy until further notice.Our action is the only remedy to sauve thé country from mismanagement of state funds and corruption un thé society at large.Henceforth,all the country borders are closed and curfew is imposed from 6 pm to 6 am.It's an order,we are un the state of emergency.Thank you coutrymen.

They wanted K Wayo to gather arms (since he's an arms dealer) and kick Rawlings out so they can come and easily take over. I wish K Wayo could read this. We all know him. He will start screaming. K Wayo told them that there was no need since the people were already fed up with JJ.

When they couldn't beat Kwame Nkrumah at the polls, they resorted to all kinds of negative tactics, which finally led to the coup. The same one Arthur K was praising. The NPP stupidly thinks the military is made up of their members. Mind you, Mahama is not military leader. He has not stepped on anybody's toes. He has not set up a paramilitary organization whose members are fooling around like JJ's useless militia and his so called panther regiment.

The NPP should never for one moment think that the rot they exhibited when in power did not call for a complete overhaul of our political system. I personally overheard a taxi driver calling for the removal of Kufuor through the gun. I later learnt he was a military officer who was off duty making some noko fiooo. The call for Kufuor's removal was made evident during & after the Ghana @ 50, when the stealing was made bare. Cars and bungalows galore!!

Revolution is a necessary machine that drives every country to realise it potential and build upon it for Socio-political and economic development, however, Ghana missed the opportunity to developing itself after a successful execution of its revolution that metamorphosis and consolidated the now multi party democracy. Dr . kwabina Arthur Kennedy was right at all levels of understanding to say he misses the the 1979 revolution that brought about sense of belonging and discipline, selfless and dedicated few who led and made ghana a proud country. Ever since, the inception of the fourth Republic, to say the 1992 political transition the country has gradually depleted it moral fibre ie the spirit of togetherness, respect for oneself and believing to be part of Ghana. Ghana today is a country of selfish, corrupted and indiscipline people who care less to either milk the country dry through fare or dubious means. All of this under the umbrella of democratic governance which we all have little understanding that, governance is about making the lives of your people better. Considering all these Arthur Kennedy is perfectly right to have said that, he misses the 1979 revolution irrespective of its faults. The British revolution led by Oliver Cromwell beheaded the king of United Kingdom, Napoleon sacrifice a lot of French people, and the Russian revolution recorded collateral losses. But because these Countries meant to develop they moved on with the revolutionary minded people who have love and passion for the next generation unborn at heart worked hard and did not engage in capital flight to drain the resources of their respective countries but developed it to create employment, providing education, health, accommodation, energy and infrastructural development. Ghana should once again consider its bearing and put things right or else one day the calamity that will fall onto the democratic ghana will not be a good example to the other African nations.

The problem of NPP is that every educated person think that he can lead and not a follower. It always cost the party when such thing happened. I am expecting at least only two presidential contestants for the sack of unity and to win power and also have massive support or declare one un oppose . But you wait and see the so called academians, they will fight, insult, breaking away etc. look at Asamoah Boaten, gh artery and co should just step down even before the screening for the sake of unity and to win power. Remember paa Willy and Afrifa brook away from Victor Owusu (PFP) and NPP lost to Dr Liman. The so called energy expect Wireko Tarzan Brobbey broke away from Kuffuor and formed his own party only to come and head VRA by the same party he fought against. Allan kyeremateng stopped as a member of NPP created a big division to the extent that most of his supporters refused to vote and that cause Nana Addo becoming president and he lost to late Mills. Later Allan announced his support to Nana Addo but it was late. Today, the same Allan need the help of we the supporters of NPP. Do politians and educated people like you Arthur K think we the electorates are fouls? If you can't help your brother to "chop 7, you cannot chop 10" meaning if you can't help your brother to succeed you cannot also succeed.

For today Dr Kennedy to call for June 4th is unfortunate and he is been a hypocrite and a lier. I remember during NPP campaign during Prof Adu Boahen's time at UST campus, you Dr Kennedy condermed Rawlings and said " he cam to search people bags but when he was leaven he Rawlings doesn't want anybody to search his bag" I was in the first year when you mounted the plate form at the Republic hall and you said this. Please I plead with all aspirants to form groups of only two and support each other in harmony else NPP will loose again even though there is no hope in Mahama administration but NDC have one voice

There could be countless better references to make for the nation's wrath borne out of the horrible and naked robbery and massive corruption bleeding the nation to fall on the perpetrators. I shudder to reflect on June 4 '79 dark bouts of inhuman and disgusting executions unleashed on the nation! The so called house cleaning exercise produced no lasting productive legacy rather sorrow and destruction.

Arthur K, this one reference forces me to doubt your commitment to the principle of rule of law and decency! After all if June 4 was the solution Ghana would have reaped the benefits long time if not by now!
