So, if theIsraeli Ambassador realy wants to help us, then she should inform her government to be at peace with the innocent people of Palestine, especially women and children. For we cannot be happy to take rice and sugar from you in the name of Ramadan whilst our fellow Muslims closer to you cannot even enjoy their fasting. Our scholars should also be sincere to tell the truth because i think we dont need rice and sugar for fasting. We have been eating for the past 11 months so nobody should claim be extending help to us for just one month. meanwhile 4 bags of rice cannot even sustain any serious family fou a month so why donote 4 bags of rice to a whole community?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I commend the Israeli Ambassador in Ghana for her bold and heartfelt contribution. This is one of the greatest diplomatic move by any Diplomat all around the World. It attests to the high intelligence Israeli Officials bring to their Office.

Ordinarily, most people would assume that while fighting is gloomily hanging over the Israelis and Palestinians, Israelis, their Officials, would harden their hearts against Muslims. But here we are with this exquisite charitable gesture from the Israeli Ambassador to the Muslims.

This gesture packs a great deal of punch to prove Israel does not intrinsically hate Muslims, or Arabs for that matter, but it is the scare of being surrounded by Arabs and having to live under great uncertainty and insecurity that easily triggers violence among the folks.

The Imam who received the gifts from the Ambassador has also demonstrated a certain receptive gesture that might contrast general expectations among his religious fraternity. But I strongly believe he did the right thing to accept the gifts. So, let those who are denouncing the Imam tone down their criticism to allow that little positive gesture ripple through the whole Muslim religion, across the World. It may be a little mustard seed, but it could grow to become a major source of food to the hearts of all in conflict in the Middle East.

Give Peace a chance.

I wish Hamas would pause, retreat and for once, extend an olive branch to try and make Peace with Israel. The current assault on the Gaza by Israel has already claimed tens of Arab lives, including many children and women. Prolonging the hostilities does not guarantee a win over Israel. So, why not allow Peace to be worked out and from that a comprehensive settlement of the crisis attempted once again.

The Palestinian children and Women deserve to live in Peace. And both sides need to withdraw to let Peace become possible.

Israel's Ambassador to Ghana must convey the gratefulness of the Muslims in Ghana back to Israel with the petition from the Ghanaian Citizens for Israeli preference for Peace. The Bombardment of Gaza does not reflect the great humanitarian gesture the Ambassador made to the Muslims. The Air bombardment by Israel makes her look more inhumane.

Let Peace prevail!

The people of both the Palestine and Israel deserve better and the Politicians in both areas must cap their egos to let those seeking Peace have a chance to make it happen.

“I trust that during this period of fasting the blessings of Allah shall overflow the Muslim community in the country under your great leadership”. This is what the GNA reported as a message from the Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, Ms Sharon Bar-li said to Sheikh Umar Ibrahim, National Imam Al Sunna Wa’al Jammat during the former’s donation of four bags of rice and sugar to the latter.
I don’t want to comment on whether or not our father, Sheikh Umar Ibrahim was misinformed about the program as some reports suggested. Rather, I want to draw Muslims’ attention to the fact that we have more important needs to address than food items for Ramadan. Some of our needs are emotional like feeling psychological pains for our fellow Muslims in Gaza and other places. We also have physical needs such as educational infrastructures and other socio-economic opportunities for the Muslim youth. We can only be better Muslims with we create equilibrium between our spiritual and material needs. Therefore, any interested people who may want to support Muslims should do so in accordance with our urgent needs.
For instance, if were Sheikh Umar, I would have told the Israeli Ambassador that since she “trust that during this period of fasting the blessings of Allah shall overflow the Muslim community”, she should let the Muslims in Gaza enjoy these blessings before she would extend it to us here in Ghana, if her 4 bags of rice and sugar can invoke Allah’s blessings. That we cannot be happy to take the rice and sugar from her in the name of Ramadan whilst our fellow Muslims in Palestine are suffering in hands of Israel and cannot even congregate to worship Allah out fear of being attacked by authorized Israelis; hence, if the Israeli Embassy wants to maintain healthy relations with Muslims in Ghana, the Ambassador should inform her government to be at peace with the innocent people of Palestine, especially women and children.
I am very sure this would have sent a strong message to the Israeli Embassy as well as all other foreign missions and non-Muslims who want to be friends to Muslims but enemies of Islam to change their mentality.
Obviously, we don’t need anybody’s rice and sugar for the Ramadan fast because we have been eating adequately for the past 11 month without depending on donations from politicians and diplomats. So why do they suddenly show us love and care by donating all kinds of food items to us in a month that we eat less?
This also brings to the fore the issue of Iftaar parties all over the Muslim communities. I wonder why some of our scholars have become regular participants of Iftaar parties, moving from one Embassy or conference hall to the other on a daily basis throughout the month. I’m not saying that people should not feed the poor and needy in our community. But you will bear with me that those who participate in the various Iftaar parties are the well-endowed Muslims who are capable of feeding many mouths and can even organize Iftaar for others. Yet, they take pride in receiving all kinds of food items INDISCRIMINATELY. Why can’t our leaders harness these resources for socio-economic projects that will impact positively on the Muslim community at the long run?
My simple message is that our leaders should come out with a policy that any person who wants to gain the blessings of Ramadan by donating food items or organizing Iftaar parties should convert the food into resources that can sponsor the education of some brilliant but needy Muslim students in the country. This is better than donating food items that may even create more problems for Muslims. For example, I can’t imagine the difficulty that Sheikh Umar and co. will have to face when they are to share the 4 bags of rice and sugar that they received from Israeli Ambassador. Perhaps returning the items will be safer as some sources indicated.
