This is just a lie. The economy of Ghana has little to do with it and under Kufuor, people were naturalising as well. This trolling of NPP talking points has to stop

I will not even tackle the brain drain situation and the achievements this people are making for other countries in Europe and US. Just imagine what will happen, if the government and our leaders create business policies for all these experts and professionals to come back home helping our their Ghana to develop. Just imagine!!!

It is unbelievable to listing to some writs defining the number as low and therefore do have any negative effects on our development.

The government must develop brain redrain concept and comfortable business environment for Ghanaians in diaspora to invest in Ghana.

Once there is no trust in Ghana people start taking the citizenship of other countries.

Now the problem is seen, Mr. Ahwoi.

What a naked propaganda this is indeed! Could somebody please tell this Mugu that a handsome number of people have opted for dual nationality without any problems all over Europe? Of course, there are advantages and disadvantages associated with opting for dual citizenship and the pressing one in the dairy is hospitalization insurance thus far. Now, supposing you travel to Ghana with your dual status and unfortunately or seriously taken ill out there, then you are on your own since you're a confirmed citizen of Ghana as well, except one is prepared to take up other medical insurance, which is almost always very expensive before leaving the shores of his or her domiciliation.

That is not the case with non-dual citizens since they can be taken care of firstly in Ghana by their embassies or consulates and if necessary flown back to the country of origin for further treatment on their existing hospitalization or medical insurance should they be bold to alert the agents representing their collective countries about their illness. Simply put, one is always treated like a citizen of their own should mishap happened in your visitation country. That folks, is the major reason a lot would not even bother taking up dual citizenship in the first place.

In Ghana it is these politicians who are our business tycoons. Therefore most of the decision they take, they do it mostly for their selfs.

We all leave our country because of less opportunity we have. If your father is not someone from the elites it is hardly to get to the top. Your certificate can not help you. So it is the individual government who have the mandate to creative a healthy and social business environment for all of us, so that no one will travel abroad to earn money.

European countries protect their citizens, help them to find job and pay them money for their flat. At the same time, your hospital card is safe.
Most important of all their laws does not obey president nor layman.

In this case to renounce your ID for other one is quite simply. Look at things running in Ghana, no one can be blamed, except our wicked leaders and their entourage.

Kwesi Ahwoi does not know what he is talking about. Taking citizenship in those countries he mentioned has nothing to do with the economic hardship in Ghana. After all, the economies of those countries are also suffering and many people do not even have jobs.

Some countries do not allow dual citizenship therefore, if one wants to become citizen of those countries, their laws requires that one must renounce any other citizenship before becoming a citizen of their country.

Since 9/11, some laws have been changed in some countries that makes it easier to deport someone who is not a citizen. One is better protected when you are a citizen than being just a mere immigrant or a green card holder. There are also some privileges that goes with citizenship of those countries. Ghanaians have always been taking citizenship in developed countries and those that allow dual citizenship, one does not need to apply to Ghana to renounce their citizenship before acquiring the new one.

Which is better, to earn an honest wage,cleaning toilets or building spacecrafts or to steal a nations wealth and bring suffering to the masses?

It's high time Ghanaians start looking down on people who misappropriate the nation's wealth for their personal gain and applaud the hardworking individual regardless of what they do.

Does it not say much about a country when cleaning toilets mean you have a roof over your head, have access to free health, free education, build a house in Ghana and still be able to remit to poor relatives back in Ghana?

Most of those cleaning toilets here find themselves economically better off than they would back in Ghana their motherland, so stop being bashing them. It's the thieves back in Ghana you should be bashing and looking down.

But most of you are so stupid, gullible, servile and ignorant you "yessa master" the plunderers of our national coffers because they live in big houses and drive expensive cars which most of them cannot afford from the paltry salaries they earn.

So the butcher hands it to her over the counter.

The lady takes her index and middle fingers and sticks them up the duck's ass, then pulls her fingers out, puts her fingers to her nose and smells them. She gets a look of disgust on her face, looks at the butcher and says "This is a Nigerian duck. I want a Ghana Duck. Take this back and get me a Ghana Duck."

So the butcher returns the duck to the cooler and comes back with another duck. The butcher puts it on the scale, then the lady says "Let me see that duck".

The lady once again sticks her fingers up the duck's ass and then smells her fingers.

"This is an American duck. Take it back. What's wrong with you, I said I want a Ghanaian Duck... go get me a Ghanaian Duck before I call the manager".

It is absurd to hear the minister attribute the change of nationalities to economy situations. Did I hear him mentioned an American seeking Ghanaian nationality? At the same time, the population growth makes it possible that more Ghanaians may renounce their citizenship in numbers, but a different picture might be the case when using percentage of the aggregated population.

Lastly, these numbers say nothing about how many Ghanaians that have seeked a new citizenship in countries allowing dual citizenship such as in the UK and the USA.

Denmark (7) will also soon implement dua citizenship as one of the few countries in Northern Europe. In the future, Ghanaians who will apply for Danish citizenship will no longer have to renounce their Ghanaian one, but they would still live in Denmark, plausible work in Denmark.
Hence the invisible number of Ghanaians seeking a permanent greener pasture will grow.

We want him to tell us what he has done since assuming office, what has he done so far on the issues of drugs, armed robberies etc.

These is a global village where people will always change their nationality and vice versa. We have Irish Americans, Italian Americans, African Americans, Afro Caribbeans, Ghanaians in the diaspora play a positive role in the socio economic development of the country. They contributed billions of dollars into the economy and they always refer to themselves as Ghanaians belonging to the various Ghanaian Associations outside Ghana and visiting friends and families they also sent developmental items to help their communities.We are Ghanaians and will always be Ghanaians.
