I believe in the equality of man; and I believe that religious duties consist in doing justice, loving mercy, and endeavouring to make our fellow-creatures happy.
But, lest it should be supposed that I believe many other things in addition to these, I shall, in the progress of this work, declare the things I do not believe, and my reasons for not believing them.
I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish Church, by the Roman Church, by the Greek Church, by the Turkish Church, by the Protestant Church, nor by any church that I know of. My own mind is my own church.
All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit.

After establishing that he would refrain from using extra-Biblical sources to inform his criticism, but would instead apply the Bible's own words against itself, Paine questions the sacredness of the Bible, analyzing it as one would any other book. For example, in his analysis of the Book of Proverbs he argues that its sayings are "inferior in keenness to the proverbs of the Spaniards, and not more wise and economical than those of the American Franklin".[21]

Describing the Bible as "fabulous mythology", Paine questions whether or not it was revealed to its writers and doubts that the original writers can ever be known (he dismisses the idea that Moses wrote the Pentateuch, for example).

My intention is to show that those books are spurious, and that Moses is not the author of them; and still further, that they were not written in the time of Moses, nor till several hundred years afterward; that they are no other than an attempted history of the life of Moses, and of the times in which he is said to have lived, and also of the times prior thereto, written by some very ignorant and stupid pretenders to authorship, several hundred years after the death of Moses, as men now write histories of things that happened, or are supposed to have happened, several hundred or several thousand years ago.[22]

Using methods that would not become common in Biblical scholarship until the nineteenth century, Paine tested the Bible for internal consistency and questioned its historical accuracy, concluding that it was not divinely inspired.

Paine also argues that the Old Testament must be false because it depicts a tyrannical God. The "history of wickedness" pervading the Old Testament convinced Paine that it was simply another set of human-authored myths.[23] He deplores people's credulity: "Brought up in habits of superstition," he wrote, "people in general know not how much wickedness there is in this pretended word of God." Citing Numbers 31:13–47 as an example, in which Moses orders the slaughter of thousands of boys and women, and sanctions the rape of thousands of girls, at God's behest,[24] Paine calls the Bible a "book of lies, wickedness, and blasphemy; for what can be greater blasphemy than to ascribe the wickedness of man to the orders of the Almighty!"[25]

Most of the Cahrismatic Pastors are fake. Teaching the people only on Prosperity and forgivenes made easy, but they themselves don't give to the needed as they preach and can not forgive others.

However, are these false pastors are exist because of poor economic conditions in the country. Some people try some dubious means to make a living, even though they themselves know that it is bad.

Are these false pastors and 'kramos' responsible for our economic woes? No!.

It is NDC government looting and stealing from the treasury that has brought this economic woes. this what Ghanaians must be aware of. Every NDC official supports useless distribution of sanitary pad to our school girls. Why does this uneconomic venture has NDC support? For, they can inflate figures and make money out of this useless policy.

NDC must be serious to correct bad economic conditions they have intentionally created for Ghanaians. that is what matter. Ghanaians must be also beware of your husband bi-sexual tendencies. It is bad for Ghana.

Religion in Ghana and Africa has been hijacked by the minority few who profess to be closer to God. The bible itself did not place barrier to seek communication(prayer) with God , but the African has been made to believe that he has to go through some intermediaries before their prayers can be answered. As a result of this ignorance , some fake pastors have exploited Africans to the teeth just like the colonizer did to its people in the past. The African is easy to convince due to poverty and lack of solutions to address individual problems. The school curriculum in most African nations does not empower its people to think. Rather, it makes people emotional , hence the incessant problems.

To me it borders on government promotion of a specific religion. Though she herself is not in politics, I would have preferred that she clearly state this is her personal promotion not a promotion as second lady. Remember during the campaign when she was reported as saying: “God has blessed my husband; God has also blessed Cape Coast”? Bit ironical, perhaps?

At any rate, Esther Acolatse's book, which, to be fair, I've only read the review of, views pastoral practices through the lenses of Karl Barth and Carl Jung, both historical figures with whom I have problems. (A popular website is hardly a place for serious theological or psychological debate, but, for any interested in the interaction between religion and psychology, I'd like to suggest Richard Noll's 2 books critiquing Carl Jung. Noll has also done some interesting anthropological work.)

Nevertheless, despite being put off a book by someone who supports their conclusions by referencing Karl Barth and Carl Jung (who, read Noll, was very anti women and much into immorality), some of the issues raised, at least as presented in this article, are worth serious consideration.
