Let not emotions and personal sentiments carry us off the good relationship we enjoy. It can be sufficient to sent one from the presidency to sort out with the USA staff. You will NOT find a single SQUARE-MINDED person engaging in any of these attacks, except, of course, those whose job it is to DIVERT attention from the REAL ISSUES that can MAKE or BREAK us as a people.

While we attck the US Ambassador, the US Embassy and the USA, The American Government is feverishly working, through the Millenium Challenge to extend assistance to us to address our DUM-SO, DUM-SO issues.

I am sure you get my DRIFT. What kind of people are we? In fact, it is becoming clearer by the day why Africans play SECOND FIDDLE in the world and are almost at the end of the FOOD CHAIN; IT IS THE CHOICES WE MAKE.

We do not seem to make a serious effort at DISCERNING the decisions we make, the things we do and the PROBABLE OUTCOMES of them.

That is SAD and VERY SAD Indeed.

My suggestion is that Ghanaians and all should not DEMONSTRATE for just one day because once the Demonstartion is over, the REAL LIFE ISSUES and the DAILY untold AGONIES of being a Ghanaian living in Ghana will come to the FORE and confront us.

So therefore, if we demostrate daily, then, of course, the DEMONTRATIONS will dominate the airwaves and there will be No MORE PAIN and SUFFERING in the LAND.

If the Ghanaian people will channel 10% of the Energies devoted to this NKWASEASEM to PRODUCTIVITY Ghana will certainly be a better place and we will all be better for it.

He or she has not seen a wage increase since the NDC took office but the govt increases the cost of petrol, trotro and other essential items almost everyday. Last May, a bag of cement sold at 24 cedis. Today as I am writing this, the cost of cement is 35 cedis. This means that the price of a bag of cement has jumped by 11 cedis in just three months. What about the cost of other goods and services which directly affect the ordinary Ghanaian? Mahama must sack all his cabinet ministers and replace them with competent people. What a joke?

It is of no surprise that some affiliates and loyalists of the NDC party are trying to drift attention from the most gruesome socioeconomic issues of all times facing the nation right now. This is just a way of muddying the waters. What a waste. Stop bringing up irrelevant issues and fix the economy. Much effort is needed to calibrate the political stance if the country so Ghanaians should rather channel the effort into a worthy cause by reiterating a wake-up call to the prez and his cohorts. What the US citizen's Tweeter is asking the President is an apt question. Does the Tweet reflect the official view of the US government to even require a protest march? What has that promised 10% salary-cut done to ameliorate the suffering of Ghanaians, and who can tell even if those promised cuts are being made and being used for the intended purposes even if it is being done? We all know the penchant of this NDC government to divert resources of all kinds from their intended purposes for virtually, useless things. Are we not witnesses to what is happening to statutory payments to the NHIS, GETFund, and others?
The period for the supposed demonstration should better be used to fill pot-holes on roads in the capital city as that will advance what they say is their better Ghana agenda but certainly not this useless intended protest-march.

I'm very disappointed reading this from you knowing that whoever responded to the president using the embassy account committed a diplomatic blunder which the US embassy admitted and apologized .
No matter how you hate the president of your country you don't want anybody from a different country to disrespect him,disrespecting the president no matter which party he belongs is disrespecting the people of Ghana and you and I know the Americans don't take such things lightly.
Personally,I think the apology from the US embassy is enough,no need for any demonstrations or response from government officials as did by the minister of foreign affairs which was not only a blunder on her part but childish,a foreign minister should be responding to statements made by her counterparts but not to a tweet by embassy staff,something that should be for low key members of her outfit.
I think the president also used a wrong forum to address Ghanaians, a forum I think 99% or more of Ghanaians may not have access to and I hope in future his advisers make him to talk to the people direct instead of social forums.

But, wait! Wasn't this the same embassy that strong evidence point to harboring elements of U.S. intelligence that helped topple the first President of Ghana? Even if the tweet were the deed of an individual acting on his own and not on behalf of the embassy, the 1966 memory is ever present. Many Americans already know that their government meddles to much in other people's business.

Just ask the Iraqis.

Accept the apology from the embassy, but let the demonstrators also keep alive the sordid history of that embassy.

A typical example of how the CIA works is the Ukrainian situation. The CIA spent at least 5 billion dollars stirring up trouble in the Ukraine over the last 7 years. THE success OF THE CHINESE RUSSIANS ETC IS MOSTLY DUE TO THEIR HABIT OF MAKING DEALS WITH OTHER COUNTRIES WHICH ARE MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL. COMPARE THAT TO THE WESTERN ( USA) HABIT OF THREATENING DESTABILIZATION OR BRANDISHING WEAPONRY TO ACHIEVE THEIR OBJECTIVES. THE PAINFUL REALTY IS THAT THE USA AND MOST OF ITS TRADITIONAL WESTERN ALLIES NO LONGER PRODUCE THINGS THAT OTHER COUNTRIES NEED OR WANT SO THERE IS INCREASING TENDENCY ON THEIR PART TO RESORT TO VIOLENCE AND THREATS OF DESTABILIZATION IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN THEIR PRIVILEGED POSITION. CONFRONTATION BETWEEN A RABIDLY RISING CHINA AND RESURGENT RUSSIA ON THE ONE HAND AND AN ECONOMICALLY DECLINING USA AND ITS WESTERN ALLIES IS ALMOST INEVITABLE AS IT DOES NOT APPEAR THAT THE USA WILL QUIETLY EVENTUALLY ACCEPT ROLE OTHER THAN THAT OF A SOLE SUPER POWER.We must pray that the Americans will learn to rely more on diplomacy rather than the gun and the use of threats. Let us face the truth as Ghanaians. Ghanaians to demonstrate against US Embassy in Ghana is NOT in the right direction. The government should do everything to stop it. Such a demonstration will not speak good of Ghana as a democratic country. Don't let us make a big deal out of nothing. We have too many challenges at hand to be talking about demonstration on someone's reflection on what the president tweeted. By the way, why are reflections so important? I wish to ask the president to tweet back with details on all the sacrifices masses,and the government are making for the betterment of the country. The president may not include the pay cut.
Is this too much for the president to do? A word to a wise is enough. The reflection from the US Embassy in Ghana is in the right direction.

The US embassy official was right. The embassy SHOULD NOT have issued any apology!!! If a stupid dog barks at you and you decide to retreat or run, then it thinks it has a reason to chase you. The stupid NDC fools in government and their cohorts think they can capitalize on the US embassy's soft grounds (apology) and "attack" the embassy further.

My STRONG advice to the US embassy is to completely ignore those fools and make sure they bounce/refuse them visas when they turn around and come look for visas to travel to the USA. We dont need such fools in America. Nonsense!!!

We have not seen any meaningful impact the so-called Pay-cut for the President and his Cabinet has done for the Nation. Meanwhile, if they opted for pay-cut only to over-compensate themselves with massive Corruption that goes unchecked, then where is the sacrifice they are making to have the moral right to ask any of us for more?

Ghanaians would be better served with the Admninistration curbing Corruption among the Government Officials than with the pay-cuts.

The US Embassy Staff live in Ghana and know first-hand what the Economic conditions are for the Citizenry. They hear what the Public laments about and cheers about.

More, the Embassy, through the advanced means of detecting Income accumulation by various individuals around the World, could know who in Ghana are stealing our monies to hide in safe-havens abroad, or investing in Properties overseas, way beyond their their normal pay-structure could allow.

Therefore, it would not serve the NDC any good to escalate this incident with such open antagonism against the USA, via the demonstration planned. What if the escalation leads to any exposition of secret accounts by the members of the Government and their cronies?

That would be great for the ordinary Ghanaian, and not the NDC. So, maybe we should just let the demo go on, and hope the USA would set her Agencies to dig up any such secret accounts to help us retrieve our stolen monies.

Yes that is the problem with the USA at the moment: it no longer produces much that anyone wants, borrows from other countries (who buy US treasurer bills) just to maintain the status quo. The only other thing keeping the USA afloat at the moment is the fact that the USA dollar remains (at least for now) the world's reserve currency. In other words anytime individuals or nations conduct business or transactions which directly or indirectly involve the use of the American dollar the the USA exacts a "tax". If the USA dollar were to lose this status collapse of the USA economy would be swift as the country no longer has a strong or competitive manufacturing base( the UK pound sterling held a similar privileged position over a hundred years ago ). Economic power and inevitably military might is rapidly shifting to countries like China. As the USA struggles to compete with Chinese and Russians etc( both countries along with other emerging countries unlike the USA or UK are not trapped in crippling debt) it finds itself increasingly having to use force or the threat of the use of force to try to maintain its dominance globally. The USA's military budget is much much larger than the total budget of the next 8 countries with the largest military bugets. The growing tendency of the USA to resort to threats, adopt an aggressive political stance rather than use diplomacy and negotiations has created far more problems and many more enemies than ever before for the USA. Sadly it seems the policy makers in Washington have still not learned any lessons from the past as the USA continues to engage in economically ruinous and politically damaging wars interventions and "regime changes". All these misadventures have left the USA economically drained and increasingly alienated. THE USA POLICY MAKERS SEEM UNABLE TO STOP THEMSELVES FROM THIS COMPULSIVE DESIRE TO CONTROL EVERY NATION ON EARTH. Yes the USA has the ability to remove any African heaf of state but that would not solve America's intractable economic problems

Our elders have a saying which goes like this: "When the hen is warned never to go out and it does, it is commonsense to keep its pursuers behind the door as she runs home, and admonish her later when she is safe in the house. That is wisdom which valorises the protection of "one-of-our-own" from danger or any form of external attack. If we as a nation cannot protect "our own", defend our leaders,parents, brothers and sisters in the face of external attack, blatant disrespect etc., irrespective of what they have done or not done for us, then we cease to be intelligent human beings.

That blood is thicker than water is a universal commonsense, but many of us - at least, as shown in this forum - don't seem to have it. Pity!

This is a Ghanaian government that has looted the coffers of the nation rendering the country's economy in tatters and just because someone( BE IT A FOREIGN EMBASSY OR NOT) said something that was justifiably true, the NDC foot soldiers have their shirts off ready to rumble.
We really deserve this useless government. They should stay in power till every single Ghanaian can't even breathe..... not from lack of oxygen in the air but from lack of basic neccessities like food, good health, good drinking water, clothes, housing etc ,then we will come to our senses that this government has actually suffocated us.

We need a mental shift from the way we allow corrupt politicians to manipulate us for their selfish gains while the masses are always in perpertual need of the basic necessities of life.

Useless NDC government. Building a mountain out of a mole hill. This your intended useless demonstration against the US Embassy is calculated to overshadow the nationwide strike action by the Trades Union Congress (TUC) next Thursday.
This anti USA demonstration is being organized by the aggrieved NDC supporters, and not all Ghanaians. The ruling NDC government is bereft of ideas, and has no solution to the myriad of economic challenges facing Ghanaians. The NDC supporters are prepared to follow this clueless, visionless womanizer parading himself in borrowed robes of a president.
Ghanaians are tired of unfulfilled promises, and gross mismanagement of the economy of this country. This government is only interested in contracting loans, and diverting the funds on useless ventures like GYEEDA, AKONFEM (GUINEA FOWL),SANITARY PADS, JUDGEMENT DEBT,SCHOOLS UNDER TREES,V8 VEHICLES FOR CHIEFS IN 2012 ELECTIONS, 13 4X4 PICK-UP VEHICLES FOR CHIEFS IN 2014, $3M FREE RIDE IN A CHARTERED PLANE TO BRAZIL, AND MANY MORE TO FOLLOW.
None of these useless ventures added any value to the economy of the state. Indications are that John Mahama has no idea on elementary economics, and managing macroeconomics. He does not know how to do business,and how can such a person be a president?
His choice of people for ministerial positions is questionable, and that is why the wheels of government is speedily coming to a halt.
And instead for him to sit down, and do serious business, he wastes time Tweeting like a school boy,and when he gets a response from a school boy at the American Embassy, the whole NDC ministers who have nothing good to offer this country, expect the American president to come down to Ghana and apologize. For What?
In the first place, John Mahama does not deserve the apology, because his tweeting was calculated to take Ghanaians for a ride. It was very irresponsible to use that medium to continue his unfulfilled promises to Ghanaians. How many Ghanaians have access to the internet? Why is he hiding behind the internet to perpetuate his unfulfilled promises?
Why can't he go to the national studio (GBC STUDIO) to broadcast to the nation if what he tweeted was so important? Answers to these questions would clearly expose John Mahama as a joker of a president.
Ghanaians deserve a better president than this joker. This country has been in reverse gear since John Mahama was sworn in as president.
I'm sure he has misplaced his job description. This is NDC demo, and not the good people of Ghana.

Corruption, incompetence, misdirection of policies, vision-lessness, purposelessness, etc. on the part of the Mills-Mahama-Arthur administration are what have brought Ghana to this fate, not sacrifices. With them, there could never be any bright future for Ghana. They must go!

If anything against Ghana is a slap on the face of all Ghanaians, then Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa must tell his master John Mahama that the national cake too must be equitably shared to benefit all Ghanaians. For when it comes to that, then Ghana is about only the NDC. Sam, that's a shame! Is Yamin and Elvis Afriyie Ankrah not still in government?
