I had to do everything from carrying firewood to forcing my mother to sometimes borrowing money before I was able to complete.

And the problem was compounded by the drought in 1983 culminating in severe distress for the entire student body. No wonder only 13 of us out of a student population of 153 had
grade One.

I really feel sad for this girl: This could have been me, and that very thought blows my mind to smithereens.

People commit suicide for various reason.

I am rather surprise that the mother of this child was unable to find a mere 190Gh to pay her daughter’s school. How many children has this mother got and where is the father of the child. He is not mentioned. I bet now that her child is dead, she will have the money for a funeral which will start on Friday and finish on Sunday. This is the sheer stupidity of black people, instead of looking for solutions our problems, we are quick to jump to conclusion. The likes of your are the people bringing Ghana down, how can we progress if people think like you.

The president of Ghana is not useless. Every country on this planet will from time to time go through what is call a boom and bust economic. This is the problem facing ghana at the moment. It is unfortunate that it should happen in President Mahama’s time but that is life. The ruling party is duty bound to find solutions but this is not an overnight. The feel good fact will come back, so no lose talk. Don’t talk like you don’t have a brain.

Tell us how many of your siblings achieved higher education? It is compulsory that if you cannot afford, your child should go to school. My father young and as the only son among six sisters, my mother told my sisters that I should rather continue my education. I did, completed sixth form and after national service, I came to US. Yes, she could not afford the fees for all of us. Don't just behave as if nobody has ever had problems with the fees. You behave as if you don't have head. Think again, blockhead.

In the absence of common access to psychiatrists in Ghana, many of our folks suffer depression that we fail to recognize until too late, culminating in a tragedy like this.

May she rest in Peace!

Meanwhile, our School Officials and other Educational Authorities must team up with our Social Service Employees to identify and report extreme stress in the children for timely remediation. Many children go to bed hungry in Ghana, I understand. So, the lack of funds for School Fees would be even more widespread. But in this day and age, the country must not allow this to happen, while the Woyomes and GYEEDA, SADA Officials loot our Millions, even after many of them had been freely sponsored for Education by the State.

I pray this does not happen to any other kid in Ghana, again. The kids must also be informed that there are always other safe and decent sources of help to pay their way through School. They can, at least, approach or call any of the Radio Stations to plead their cases for help through them.

No child should die because of GHC 190. That is a shame to all of us. This is why the Government must put more financial aid at the disposal of the most needy kids to complete their Education, at least, up to SS.

I read stories like this and I really get agitated. Ghana is for all of us so why should just a few people enjoy the riches of the nation while majority of Ghanaians can't even afford to pay a miserly 190 Cedis for their kids' school fees.

Ghana people wake up!!!!!

This simply is NOT fair.

Sometimes, I feel like taking a gun myself and going to the seat of the government and parliament and killing all those clowns who call themselves leaders of the nation.

why should the girl kills herself. i can relate to her story. going to school, in the same business school in takroadi. i was one the official late paying school guys in the classroo, i m not on time cos my mom dont ve it, likewise even a fare to ride in tro tro to school, somehow iwas going to school everyday, get sacked from the classroom comes home go back the next day knowing i m going to be thrown out of class, hey it was fun to me eventhough i miss classes, sometimes dont ve money to pay a bus to school but i still jumps in bus cars trains still manages to go to school. sorry for the girl she should ve a courage patience to go to school, forget about herclass mate will luagh at her.
