  Why Chinese workers when we have an army of unemployed in Ghana. In fact it rumoured that most of the Chinese workers ex-convict and those serving their jail terms. For it is cheaper to send these criminal to Africa than keep them in China. And in fact no Chinese who cannot speak English should not be granted work permit.

  Some differences are that their skin-color is different, they have varying cultures and above-all, they are more disciplined. That aspect of discipline is why they seem to be more productive and progressive.
  
  In Ghana we have inherited the diabolical laziness of the colonial 'masters' and when you impose a system of productive discipline, the brainwashed people will shout that you are a dictator.

  my guy i do not agree with you. ghanaians are one of the most hardworking people around but blame our leaders for not being able to create enough job opportunities within the country. almost every contract by the government goes to foreign company's and china for example comes with majority of their own labour force which our government should not encourage because what we fail to realize is all this money paid out goes out to increase the GPD of those countries meaning majority of the money do not get spent in ghana but rather the country who has the contract. we always say our local contractors do not do good job but if you give them peanuts that cannot cover that project what do you expect, it is government under fundings that has made our contractors incompetent and lack of monitoring, check and balances on projects is another factor.
  i have some on going home projects in
  accra sometimes the number of workers available are more than the work for the day and my masons want to send some of these workers away but when am around i just find and create something for them to do for the fact that they are willing to work and patronize my sites is something i take to heart. so my guy these are guys who are willing to work but the jobs are not there. ghanaians are not lazy its rather our leaders who have not done anything meaningful to create more jobs with our available resources.

  I would have thought that it would have been more appropriate for you to say that any Chinese or foreigner - especially the British who have been with us for over 200 years, and who cannot speak one Ghanaian language, should not be given a work permit and should be expelled forthwith.

  What Dan is saying is Government should have settled those people before commencement of the Project. You get the right of way (settle them to get their consent) but not 'buga, buga' as always done by black nations.

  This can't be good for our development. How could we blame workers for our compensation. But I don't blame the mob, but those who failed to communicate the compensation processes and the systems in place for give to them what's due them. And who they should consult when they are not receiving what's due them. We must wake up as a developing nation. The same peoples we always mention as our development templates, are those we always want to point figures at and attack. Too bad!!!
