I am shocked that a seasoned politician such as Nana Akufo-Addo got to know that elections are won at the polls only at the presidential petition hearing in 2013. No doubt he lost in 2008 and 2012. That is a very bitter lesson to learn. Well, at least that is one good thing from the petition. Another is that the 2016 elections would be better organised and electoral results better recorded on the pink sheets than previous ones.

Why can't Alan Kyerematen do the same if he has the interest of the party at heart? If Alan dare and continue with his intensions, he will live to regret his future ambitions in the party. The only thing that matters for Nana Akufo Addo is for him to become president of Ghana. He talks about 2016 as if we are already in that year. While the good people of Ghana are concerned about how to solve real problems that confront us now as a nation, he wants to be president in 2016.
Interestingly, Akufo Addo caused the state machinery to grind to a halt for 8 months in a baseless petition in which he wanted the Supreme Court to make him president after he had lost the 2012 election. One would have thought that he would be wise enough to keep a low profile for some time or wish President Mahama well since there is a lot of work to be done before December 2016 when the next election will be held. At least it shows how hypocritical Akufo Addo and his NPP are.
When NPP was in power, they did not allow GBC to cover an opposition event in a similar time on the excuse that the political season was not then due. Yet here they are, using 4 years to campaign just to win power - what a waste of time.
It is a shame Akufo Addo never knew that elections are won at the polling stations. Before 2012 election, he declared "all die be die" to rally his supporters to protect his ballot papers at the polling stations to avoid being cheated yet at the end of it all, he still claimed his votes were stolen and added to President Mahama's. One wonders how differently he can make his supporters protect his ballots at the polling stations in 2016. The greatest reason why Akufo Addo will not be able to win a presidential election in his lifetime is his obsession to become president.
