Apparently, there are some people in his community that he has previously helped and will not neglect him at this time when he is in dire straights. I've noticed that whenever this paper reports something about the NPP, you guys are quick to jump around with no challenge but insults. If you have a fight with your next door neighbor, who rushes to tell you that your house help is plotting with some strange people to rob you, will you snub him or take some action?

All this issue about the war on drugs is fake! Here's the deal. If these drugs are legalized, it becomes cheap. If it's restricted, it automatically becomes expensive and has high value. Are the FBI and DEA telling us they don't know what goes on in Hollywood and Las Vegas? Come on Ghanaians, let's be realistic for once.

The man who set up this foundation, Carnegie, was a contractor who worked on many railway construction projects in USA. He made lots of money through corrupt contract deals. He used his "profits" to set up the Carnegie Foundation to finance a number of philanthropic projects around the globe. Ghana has been a beneficiary of the largesse of this foundation. This dark side of the Carnegie Foundation is scarcely publicly discussed. Carnegie is now held up as a national hero, a US icon. Let us see Amoabeng as our equivalent of Carnegie. He used the proceeds of his "business activities" to support his people. No wonder his people are proud of him, even if the rest of the country decide to crucify him. In this country, there are former armed robbers and people with criminal background who are hailed, indeed worshiped as bishops or iconic men of God. Why can's we accord the same respect to Amoabeng. Again there are MPS and other government functionaries who have been charged with plagiarism ( a serious crime in academia) by their universities and have had their degrees withdrawn. These same people are held up as important national figures. LET'S STOP BEING HYPOCRITICAL; LET'S BE REAL.

Kofi Boye, reason logically before you write. You've written: "When Rawlings was put into jail for subversive activities against Ghana......what did his supporters do when then they forced and brought him out of jail......they elevated him to become the head of state of the same country he subverted... " What were those "subversive activities"? If you'd do your research as an educated person, you'd discover that JJ made it clear at his trial that he was vehemently against the corruption that had crept into the military leadership of Ghana. And those who were later executed were tried on the charge of corruption, for having abused their top positions. So, there's no way you can compare Amoateng and JJ being hailed by their supporters after their release from prison. Amoateng is an international criminal that dealt in drugs on behalf and with the blessing of his NPP leadership, including the then President Kufuor himself. He was the party's financier. This is the party that years for coming to power again in Ghana!

And how preposterous that Amoateng talks about representing his people in Parliament again! He must be banned from any such venture for ever.

If it comes to "organizing heroic welcome for party folks anytime they have a brush with the law", Alhaji Bature's NDC has no co-equals in Ghana's body politic. The are countless examples in our recent history that clearly show that it is the NDC that is guilty of the ills Alhaji Bature wants us to believe of the NPP. We were in this country when NDC hero-worhshipped the likes of Selormey, Abodapki, Kwame Peprah, Tsikata and Agyeman Rawlings when they had a brush with the law.

This is a clear case of the pot calling the kettle black but that is the stock in trade of a rented press like Bature's Al Hajj. Nice try from Bature but he must know by now that Ghanaians are no fools.

History witnessed how NPP protected Amoateng when he was facing trial in the U.S. NPP under Kufuor's government continued to pay Amoateng his salaries when he was absent from parliament not on health grounds, but on charges of drug trafficking. Alhaji news paper even stated the other two cases involving Kennedy Agyapong and Sir John when the whole of NPP became a lunatic mob that was attacked anyone they saw because their people have broken the law and were arrested. They destroyed both private and public property and caused death and injury.
Though some members of the NDC protested against the arrest of some of their members but there was not a case when they went into insanity.
It is a fact that apart from Woyome all the member of the NDC who were imprisoned by the NPP brought something to the table called Ghana like Millicom and Aveyime Rice Farm, whiles those members of the NPP who were arrested never brought a fraction of anything to the table called Ghana.

If only Kuffour had not dragged his feet, if only Nana ADDo had not tried vainly to bring all Ghanaian drug suspects back home, if, if,... perhaps the stigma of drugs on NPP's reputation would not have been. Bature would not be ressurecting this Amoateng story time and again.
