Sometimes you read what these monday morning quarterback Economists write and you realize some PhD's are not worth a spittle of spit.
The redenomination was done more than seven years ago and we didn't hear from these Economists and Ndc Politicians warning Ghana that the redenomination was going to cause problems. For five years, Ndc and their paid Economists were trumpeting the unprecedented economic growth and single digit inflation achievements.
Now that the interest payments on their gargantuan loans are exerting pressure on the economy and lack of innovative ideas to bring the economic mess under control, it is now the redenomination after blamming the SSSS.
Learn from President Obama, he stopped blaming Bush administration for the economic mess he inherited about five years ago and went to work to correct it which he has done.
If Mahama will only stop chasing loans and freebies to resurrect this moribund economy, the better it will be for the country.

You are the of great integrity of lies
which has brought our nation to this

haven't got money to buy Sanitary Pads

Hopeless idiot who claim he is sarpong, is this the kind of Government we appreciate and cherish

want people to clap for them?
We the civilized people of this nation
can imagine the kind of person you are

If under NDC administration led by
such a hopeless kind of idiot and criminal, Dramani Mahama, if indeed
$3 million American dollars has gone missing in the Offices of Bank of Ghana, and Mahama is happy touring campaigning for votes for 2016 General Election, then fellow country men and
women, Mahama, Asiedu-Nketia that Bui Dam thief, Ampah that so-called Governor of the Bank of Ghana (but criminal), Bekoe Arthur Amissah,

As long as it is needed, Frank. We can't pretend that our country doesn't need help. We need help because we are poor, and we are poor because we mismanage our resources.
However, I don't believe that the re-denomination was bad in itself. It was actually desirable because it limited the huge number of notes one needed to carry to buy anything. What I believe is that the Cedi was overvalued from day one and, therefore, started to slide downward immediately after it was introduced. But the steep precipitation we have witness this year is a result of the gross mismanagement of the economy by the NDC.

Mahmoud, I am in absolute consonance with what you have just contributed.
This CPP Economist or his Party in general are NOT exception from the ruling NDC THIEVERY BRIGADE.
The fact of the matter is, when under the NPP Government that managed to discover the OIL in COMMERCIAL and EXPORTABLE QUANTITIES, and after being able to be recipient of the Millennium Challenge Account, all indicators were being pointed to Ghana becoming a Middle Income Status.
This is more the reason why we introduced the Single Spine Income Status. Furthermore we drafted Laws in Parliament to secure the future generation of our people on account of our OIL EXPORTS.
Furthermore, we crafted the need to turn our Raw Materials into MANUFACTURING in order to have more Foreign Reserves.
Unfortunately, IDIOTS like Fiifi Kwartey with his TOGOLESE-KETA SCHOOLBOYS IDEOLOGY stepped in to say 'KUFOUR HAD SOLD ALL OUR GOLD RESERVES". Which was absolutely a load of PICTURES!!!
Now when they got into power, those sort of pronouncements culminated in CAPITAL FLIGHTS from the country, with Foreign Oligarchy refusing to invest in Ghana.
When the NdC was going around preaching "unprecedented Development",etc. with a creation of well over 1.6Million Jobs, we kept asking them to name the names of those new Jobs or Enterprises; but they couldn't. We still keep asking them.
The programme we did have was that, Iron Ore had been discovered in Ghana during the time of Dictator Kwame Nkrumah, but without OIL that was impossible to mine them.
I must say that the MOST DISAPPOINTED ASPECT THAT HAPPENED TO GHANA WAS NPP LOSING THE 20O8 ELECTIONS.
This is because, I personally had almost TWO MINING BILLIONAIRES PLUS TWO ASTITUTE OPERATORS who had assured me to proceed to Ghana with them for various Feasibility Studies.
After the Elections my calls would hardly even be returned. The ones that returned my calls had said they had decided to go to BOTSWANA..
These louts and IDIOTS in government today in Ghana are only there to fill their Dirty Stomachs and nothing else.
They are NOT people destined to rule Ghana, but rather follow the Majority, being the AKANS and other small Tribes just to justify their existence.
They think a country could be ruled through Propaganda, Lies, Thievery and the likes.
Just look at the calibre of their Ministers; are they the ones to be able to sit on the Business Round and Negotiate a Deep Down Deal with the International Financial Oligarchy??? SHUCKS!!!
And lastly they wanted us to join them at SENCHI to salvage their MESS in the ECONOMY. The best for them would be to completely RESIGN AND CALL FOR FRESH ELECTIONS.
As things stand now,no one in her right mind could say Ghana Is A Middle Income Country.
With all the Stench, Filth, Unemployment, Creating, Looting and Sharing, we would be better off to
have a CIVIL WAR AND START ALL OVER AGAIN.
GHANA, A NATION IN THE HANDS OF CATS AND DOGS!!!

All these currency re-denomination arguments and noise were foisted on Ghanaians by RAWLINGS, a non-entity by any standard, ignoring his incompetent and corrupt party spearheaded by the most corrupt individual in Ghana JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA.
Solid economic foundation was handed over by the Kuffour administration to the NDC government - the MILLS-MAHAMA governments, these two "leaders" and MAHAMA the corrupt THIEF simply use all means possible to destroy all the gains Ghana chalked under the NPP-led administration.
Every aspect of Ghanaian society now is rife with corruption, incompetence, nepotism, tribalism, ethnocentricism, you name them. MAHAMA has simply destroyed Ghana as a result of him trying to amass as much wealth as he could through his cronies and money laundering mechanisms - GYEEDA, SADA, SUBAH, RLG, AGAMS, etc.
I don't know the level of economic intelligence RAWLINGS has which influence people to listen to this murderer, someone who ruled Ghana for almost 20 years without naming even street except circles and squares - Sankara Circle, Rawlings park - since he did not know the economic benefits of street naming. Who is this economist and on what authority or platform did he derive his measuring yardstick? To become a middle income nation Ghana's dime a dozen economist and politicians must set a standard that surpasses generalised yardstick set by developed nations for under developed nations they do not apply unto their own. Ghana can legitimately be called a middle income nation when 70 percent of residential and offices have indoor plumbing, pipe borne water along with a continued and uninterruptible electricity with functional effective and efficient government institutions. At best Ghana is nothing but a beggar nation with the taste of rich nations on "akpetesie" income. The true description of our business community is buy from China and every low quality product nation and sell high on the Ghana market and earn a business cred even as we fail to produce, manufacture and or export anything of economic value on foreign market demand. Our so-called exports are not our own because they are owned and operated by foreign interests. How the heck did we get to be middle income while wallowing in "korle" lagoon and poop infested shorelines on our beaches?

Why can't people get their brains around the fact that re-denomination is designed to reduce transaction costs of having to carry wheelbarrow full of cash around, and to a lesser extent instill some confidence in the economy. It isn't designed to affect the real economy, and thus couldn't have changed the real exchange rate!!
Unless the so-called economist was misquoted this statement is completely wrong: "when your currency is strong it means you are having more exports than imports". Rather if your currency gets strong it means your goods become more expensive and goods from other countries become relatively cheaper so you're likely to import, not export!

1. Before the introduction of the EURO, 10,000 Italian Lira was equivalent to ONLY 1 British Pound. A normal car would cost over 100 Million Lira. YET Italians did not carry money in wheel barrows: they used the banks - transfers.
2. Even today 1 British Pound exchanges at 128 Japanese Yen, so that relatively you would need to carry money in wheel barrows in Japan to do normal transaction like buying a car or a house, but NO, they use bank trsnaactions.
Imagine this: I was going to rent a shop in Accra. I was to pay in CASH 250 Million (Old) Cedis PLUS: If I insisted on a receipt, they would not rent to me!
My point is that is economically healthier to make laws/regulations for transactions to be made through bank, instead of cutting 4 zeros, so that the money will fit into your purse or pocket.
For smaller purchases, I know we had denominatiosn of 10.000, 5.000, 1.000.

I hope Bawumia, the economist without any proven problem solving economic policy apart from parroting worn-out economic theories had been 'outed' again. Wasn't it Bawumia who propounded and presided over the redenomination of the cedi to score cheap political points, without reference to the prevailing fundamentals of our economy? Now after Papa JJ had boldly revealed what most Ghanaians know but scared to say, three other prominent Ghanaians had all come out to reinforce Papa J's views. Yes our present economic woes were crafted by Bawumia, the darling non-performing economist of the NPP. No wonder he was offered the NPP flagbearer running mate position.

The man has said a lot of things but at the same time has said nothing.
I wish that these so called elite will show the Ghanaian people whom they serve some respect.
Per Capita income in simple terms is what every citizen would get if the nations’ wealth was shared equally amongst the populace. According to our economist, at the time when we were made a middle income country under the NPP, our GDP (the nations’ wealth) was about 50 million. This was our GDP after the redenomination was done so how then do you blame the fact that our GDP is now 30 million on redenomination?
Our problem is very simple! Over 50% of the money Ghana runs on is borrowed i.e loans. What compounds the problem even further is that the borrowed money is also mismanaged.
So you have a situation where we borrow money, mismanage it and then spend the little moneys that we are making legitimately to service the loans that we take. FOOLISHNESS!!!
The NPP has been making sooooo much noise about turning our country from a RAW materials generating economy to one that is industrialised producing finished goods for export. The NDC does not seem to understand this concept or are too inept to make it happen.
So our population is growing, which in itself reduces our per capita income assuming that our GDP stays the same. But you add to that the fact that we import everything including toothpicks, so that we have to convert our local currency to foreign exchange to add to the little foreign exchange we get from exporting our raw materials to buy all the things that we can be manufacturing in Ghana. This reduces the value of the currency which further affects our GDP and hence our per capita income.
So yes our status which was changed based on per capita income may have slipped back to where it was but it’s not because of redenomination, but more of foolishness and lack of initiative.
If a man (Ghana) keeps increasing the size of his family by having child after child (population), but his income stays the same (GDP) then the quality of life of his and his family (per Capita income) will be affected negatively. Its as simple as that!!!
Running a country is not easy so if you know you are not cut for it, stay the hell away!!! This is not a train station or an airline, it is a country!!! Show some respect!!!
When you have people who blame dwarves and high rise buildings for our woes but forget about GYEEDA, SADA, SUBAH, RLG, AGAMS (millions and millions of dollars) and foolish things like collecting $125 million dollar loans to fund sanitary pads then it’s no shock why Ghana is where it is!
I have two undeniable facts for those who believe this nonsense;
1. The INEPTITUDE of the NDC government is supreme. Apart from propaganda which I will give NDC a 100% for, NDC has no business running a country!!!
2. NDC is the most corrupt party we have had since Ghana’s independence.
Only a couple of days ago Woyome was asked to pay back the 52 million GHC that NDC paid to him as a judgment debt just to pump back into the party. Does this tell you anything about the likely outcome for the other judgment debts? Corruption be what???
Does anyone remember the STX deal which fell through thanks to the hand of almighty God and the noise that the minority made in parliament? That’s the stupidest idea NDC has come out with so far!!
Only the NDC party can without even missing a heart beat sign a contract with our oil as bond that literally hands out 10 Billion Dollars to another country to do something as simple as building common houses just because of kickbacks especially when you think what wonders that money pumped into our own economy would do for job and wealth creation for our people.
Spending was it 25 million Dollars on a guinea fowl project with not even one egg to show for it.
This is why we are suffering guys and not because of redenomination!!! We can continue to play the ostrich politics just sticking our heads in the mud and expecting that the problems will go away and then coming up with foolish stories like redenomination to fool the common man.
The problem Ghana is facing right now is mainly because we want to be fed like little chicks in a nest with our beaks wide open. We borrow for everything! Mahama came out and said with pride that he will not stop borrowing today nor stop borrowing tomorrow.
A man who after all these years just realised that importing everything is not really the best way to run a country. Why do you run for presidency if you did not know this fact?
We as Ghanaians are all a bunch of foolish people for allowing such mediocre entities to run our lives.
I am so happy the NPP did not play a part in that Senchi accord. You cannot do paah paah about running for presidency and then 6 years into it you call the opposition whom you have been insulting and blaming everything on to come and tell you how to run the country!!! Why didn’t they figure this our before running! As they say with the 6 P’s, Proper Prior Preparation Prevents Poor Performance!!!
Ghana is potentially a very powerful nation and it will take greatness in a man to unleash this potential. Mahama does not have what it takes.

So far these are some of the reasons the Mahama led NDC gov't has given for the collapse of the economy and the depreciation of the local currency.
The most interesting thing is that, as the situation gets worse as predicted by the brilliant and renowned Economist Dr. M. Bawumia, more bizarre and incomprehensible reasons would be adduced by the incompetent, clueless and corrupt NDC gov't. Ghanaians should brace up for more reasons as they continue to loot and the thievery escalates, which are the main reasons for the collapse of the economy and the depreciation of the cedi.
