Followed on by Ghana Telecoms all for cheap. All of these inspite the Ginormous debt forgiven, Poverty Alleviation and Development Loan fro the Bretton Wood, IMF Bail out, Kronfuor still piled up Huge debts reaching Kookoase silos.

Producing oil does not necessarily translate into globs of hard cash in a country's national coffers....it takes a considerable length of time after exploration, discovery and pumping of oil, and shipping it to customers to make substantial financial gains...history is replete with the stories of nations who discovered oil but had to wait for almost two decades before enjoying the windfall of profits from sales....Nigeria discovered oil in the 1950s but it took the country 20 years to enjoy a boom..Saudi Arabia is another good example. Then there are the overhead costs of exploring and pumping the oil out of the ground...however, crucially Ghana has discovered oil at a time when oil producers in the world are a dime a dozen...so many nations now list oil as their primary export and the competition is only going to get keener once Uganda and other nations in East Africa begin exporting their newly discovered volumes of oil...the doctor know zilch.

This foolish man purports to know so much about international affairs but his musings on the IMF demonstrates his total lack of knowledge on what moves the global economy. Global Financial institutions such as the IMF move the world.
There is absolutely nothing a nation crippled by massive debt can do but to turn to these institutions for assistance. These institutions were not established immediately after the Second World War at Bretton Woods to cater to the financial needs of the U.S. and other wealthy nations; they were created to help poor nations service their debts. So to the IMF we must go to if we are inept at managing our financial matters....

Of course, the starched bureaucrats of the IMF have caused much headache and agony for millions of poor folks in the developing world. But where else can poor nations go to if they want sound policy advice and money to service their debts? Not to China which sits on trillions of dollars of foreign exchange, but does not insist on good governance when it doles loans to nations....Nigeria several years ago turned to the IMF for a loan to revamp its decrepit railway system. However, when the IMF insisted on Nigeria battling the corruption that had wrecked the national railway system, it balked and approached China which immediately granted the loan without any questions asked about poor governance and corruption in Nigeria.

Does Kennedy wants us to imitate Nigeria and approach China when corruption is crippling the management of our nation? Let's go to the IMF and take its policy advice before the national economy completely craters...

CORRUPTION,RECKLESS SPENDING AND BORROWING,MISMANAGEMENT,MALADMINISTRATION DEVOID OF SEASONED STRATEGIC PLANNING,UNFAITHFULNESS,LACK OF INTEGRITY,UNPATRIOTISM etc.

We rather need to have clear-cut,meaningful,fruitful,sustainable goals,that we can depend on for increase,on our development.

But JM says Ghanaians can't wait for 30 years before they start enjoying their oil wealth. The result is that we are going for cash injection from all corners which means we have mortgaged our oil money before they surface. In effect Ghanaians today are still not seeing or enjoying the oil money which leaves us in the precarious situation like all African oil countries. The black Gold is a curse.
What our simple minded politicians should realise is that one generation has to plant the tree i.e sacrifice for another generation to enjoy the shade. That is wise Chinese saying. We cannot have it both ways--- to want to have one's cake and eat it. That only happens in fools paradise.

Our problem is must account for every penny that is called accounting 101 in economics.
If even the NDC spent all the borrowed money to achieve one thing it would have been alright for Ghana, but not so the money had ended up in individual pockets and they are showing"Akese sem" to the poor Ghanaian.
I say before IMF come to the aid of the Mahama government they should them to do a physical account as to what they have done with all that money they borrowed.

Long before oil started flowing from the wells for Ghana, we were getting oil from Nigeria. That arrangement hit a trouble spot with Nigeria not fulfilling the agreement due to interference by Mr. OBASANJO, a friend of Mr. Kuffour agaanst Prof Mills when he was the President.
Then President Mills went to Equitorial Guinea for Oil instead of Nigeria (politics of preference).You knew about this because your NPP were making life difficult for NDC.
Now we have the oil but we cannot sell to anyone except CHINA who gave Ghana a development loan for oil.
A close scrutiny of the arrangement means CHINA want more oil for the loan.Ghana will be worse off with that agreement.
Tell us what your party plans to do about this when you come to power in 2016.
You cannot eat oil. You have to sell it to someone.

An inefficient system that is leaking cash at every level will NEVER recover until these holes are plugged. some of the simplest decisions by leadership to improve efficiency and value for money will go a very long way. Stop over-inflating costs and contracts at every opportunity and ensure that every penny is accounted for. Improve agricultural efficiency and food security so that the ordinary worker will only spend 20% of income on food. Scrap all allowances in the public services to the minimum, scrap free petrol, no more V8, 1.8 litre diesel will do. If a six classroom block can be built with 80,000 dollars but u fraudulently claim its 240000 dollars; that is your progress reversed by 67%. The list is endless.....

Well said Kennedy, we have all the gifted natural resources a country would possessed but still underdeveloped due to corruption and poor leadership and mismanagement of our social, economic, political, environmental and cultural policies by past and current governments. Even in the Canary Island where it rains 25 days in a year are able to do farming to produce enough to feed themselves. Again this Island is even more developed than Ghana with the economic backbone being tourism. It is time our leaders begin to have appropriate income generation development plans to mitigate the rising cost of our wage bill. Politics is associated with any good ideas HMM!!!!!!!!

In most countries the USA already has infrastructure and networks in place that can be used if necessary to subvert and and stir up trouble for host countries. These are mostly innocent looking NGOs, think tanks whose budgets can be traced directly or indirectly back to the USA . Academic, Health and even some religious organisations have been infiltrated by these foreign intelligence organisations. Furthermore many of our influential media personalities,heads of professional bodies, journalist, corporate heads ,heads of important academic institutions,student leaders are sometimes recruited and paid by these sinister foreign organisations.Political opposition leaders can come in useful and are often encouraged and funded by foreign intelligence organisations to stir up trouble. The identity of the foreign organisation controlling local organisations in the host country is often concealed from the indigenous people. All of these institutions are targeted and used by foreign intelligence organisations with access to generous budgets. THE USA MAY HAVE BEEN ANGERED BY THE TENDENCY OF THE CURRENT MAHAMA ADMINISTRATION TO CONTINUE TO TRADE AND DO BUSINESS WITH COUNTRIES LIKE CHINA NATURALLY AT THE EXPENSE OF A COUNTRY LIKE THE USA. THE TRUTH IS THAT COUNTRIES LIKE CHINA CONTINUE TO PRODUCE WHAT AFRICAN COUNTRIES AND OTHERS WANT.IN RETURN GHANA SUPPLIES THINGS CHINA NEEDS SUCH AS RAW MATERIALS. IN CONTRAST THE USA DOES NOT PRODUCE MUCH THAT A COUNTRY LIKE GHANA NEEDS OR WANTS. AMERICA THEREFORE SIMPLY RESORTS TO THREATS, COERCION MANIPULATION, FEAR AND ATTEMPTS TO BRING COUNTRIES UNDER ITS INFLUENCE BY OFFERING "LOANS" "DEVELOPMENT" AID INVARIABLY WITH STRINGS ATTACHED. THIS IS CALLED CARROT AND STICK POLITICS. BASICALLY IT ENTAILS ORCHESTRATING POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC EVENTS USING THE VARIOUS TOOLS DESCRIBED ABOVE TO FRIGHTEN A GOVERNMENT INTO SUBMISSION THEN AT THE SAME TIME OFFER "HELP" USUALLY IN THE FORM OF "LOANS" AND "BAIL OUTS" WITH THE MOST OUTRAGEOUS STRINGS ATTACHED. A VERY IMPORTANT FACTOR WHICH HAS ENDEARED THE CHINESE TO MANY DEVELOPING COUNTRIES IN AFRICA, ASIA AND ELSEWHERE IS THEIR EXCELLENT HABIT OF HELPING HOST NATIONS TO BUILD UP THEIR INFRASTRUCTURE SUCH AS ROADS ETC. DECADES AND DECADES OF CONTACT WITH WESTERN POWERS INCLUDING THE USA HAS NOT YIELDED SIMILAR RESULTS. IN SHORT WHILE OUR AMERICAN FRIENDS MAY SAY AND DO WHATEVER THEY LIKE THE TRUTH REMAINS THAT WESTERN COUNTRIES HAVE NOT BEEN OF AS MUCH USE TO AFRICA OR GHANA AS CHINA HAS BEEN. That is not to say that the Chinese are perfect economic partners as anyone who has been following current affairs in Ghana will readily acknowledge but in comparison to our American friends the Chinese without a doubt look like saints. In an attempt to regain "lost ground" the State department in Washington is doing everything it can to lean heavily on African governments and where necessary even forcibly remove them (for example Muammar Gaddafi of Libya, who had massive trade with China).

FELLOW GHANAIANS JUDGE FOR YOURSELVES WHETHER ANY GOOD WILL COME OUT OF THIS SO-CALLED IMF LOAN. ALREADY I SEE CORPORATE AMERICAN VULTURES CIRCLING OVERHEAD AS GHANA IS BEING SLICED, DICED AND DISMEMBERED. EXPECT A FEEDING FRENZY AS THESE CORPORATE AND MULTINATIONAL PREDATORS DESCEND ON US. TO GIVE A CIVILISED APPEARANCE TO ALL OF THIS AFRICAN LEADERS HAD A "SUMMIT" WITH OBAMA IN WASHINGTON RECENTLY. RIFE CORRUPTION IN ANY GOVERNMENT ALWAYS RENDERS THAT GOVERNMENT VULNERABLE TO SINISTER AND DETRIMENTAL MANIPULATION BY POWERFUL MALEVOLENT FOREIGN INTERESTS. PRAY. GHANAIANS PRAY AS NEVER BEFORE. PRAY THAT GHANA WILL BE ABLE TO ENDURE OR CAST OFF THE HEAVY YOKES ABOUT TO BE PLACED ON OUR NECKS. INFORMATION REVEALED HERE IS ALL PUBLICLY AVAILABLE AND SURPRISE SURPRISE FROM THE U.S.A. Actually,it is more accurate to say that our abundant material resources go to foreign interests. They control all the major sectors of our economy - mining, oil, construction, telecommunications, aviation and are moving to other areas like tourism. Even with cocoa, we borrow from abroad to pay our farmers.

We must take control of our natural resources and exploit them ourselves for the benefit of all our people.
