You see, at least, their institutions work for their ordinary citizens; you don't have to know anyone in the White House for their system to exact justice for you.

That's a big difference, and that's a good example of what their president, Mr. Barack Obama, precisely meant when he told the Ghanaian Parliament in 2009 that "Africa does not need strong men, but strong institutions."

You just don't speak to anybody in a threatening way by invoking the name of someone higher up in the society. That amounts to terrorizing the other person, and this is why Anita fits right into the "terrorists classification" according to the US State department.

I hope she learns to respect the fact that you don't threaten or put fear in other human beings by invoking the name of people upstairs because you have contacts with them.

Such practice and behavior, surely, no longer have place in contemporary dispensation of democracy and civilization.

I don't subscribe to Anita's uterrances, but it should also be stressed that the American nurse could have complained the said "threat" to the Ghanaian authourity if she had any respect for the government of Ghana: If one went to say, England and encountered a threat, one would be expected to first report the matter to the local authority, for the sake of safety first, not one's home government.

The US, like any sovereign state reserves the right to refuse entry into their country, anybody deemed to be inadmissible. "Terrorism" is a SERIUOS act, and persnally I don't think Anita's action was close to one, that should merit her being labeled as such, but then again, terrorism could be subject to interpretation, or better still, relative: For example, wasn't slavery terrorism? How about the act of overthrowing Africa's progressive leaders like Kwame Nkrumah and the killing of Patrice Lumumba? Or serious fraud and tax evations committed by multinational companies doing bogus businesses in Africa, depriving Africans BILLIONS of revenue?

If African would apply the same measure against the US, many Americans would be deemed to be inadmissible in Africa.

As I said earlier, the US has its criteria of visa issuance, and Anita failed it this time, but to say the "threat" she posed to the Amearican visitor was the cause is funny. There must be a more credible determinant factor.

The nurse probably did not have full faith and confidence in Ghanaian institutions to come to the assistance of the ordinary person in the society.

She is probably aware of the excessive corruption in Ghanaian institutions. When someone in a position of authority, who knows people upstairs start threatening you to report to the police station, and then leaving messages for you to call someone at the highest office in a country, who do you turn to to deal with the highest office?

Is it not fear or terror being put into you? Isn't it only natural for you to report to your country's embassy officials? And will that amount to disrespecting the Ghana government?

A week's dalliance on the public dime and an immature utterance which alone should have gotten her sacked, is hardly the stuff of terror watch lists in the United States. One is left to speculate, whom did she actually met in California, and what was the nature of that meeting? Has Anita caused herself to be brought to the notice of international authorities, this last one merely being the icing on the cake? On the other hand - and foreigners shouldn't be expected to remember this - even former U.S. Senator Edward "Ted" Kennedy, the now-deceased heir to one of America's largest family fortunes, brother to both a former U.S. President and a former U.S. Attorney General (both tragically assassinated at the heights of their respective public service careers) was himself once placed on our no-fly list; to be sure, it was an error, but sometimes these things happen, and even in his case took several months to resolve.

It's so easy for the Feds to check out the story...One call to the UN organizing committee to see if she attended? (check...she did not)...Next, a quick search of the airline databases to see if she travelled out of NY...(check..) Could confirm outward and inward flight to NY so it would be impossible for her to attend the meeting.

Therefore, false declaration made for previous visa. She will likely be ineligible to get a visa for 3 years or more.

IT's nothing to do with terrorists or corrupt government officials. It has everything to do with integrity.

United States' public institutions work for their ordinary citizens; you don't have to know anyone in the White House for their system to exact justice for you.

That's a big difference, and that's a good example of what their president, Mr. Barack Obama, precisely meant when he told the Ghanaian Parliament in 2009 that "Africa does not need strong men, but strong institutions."

You just don't speak to anybody in a threatening manner by invoking the name of someone higher up in the society. That amounts to terrorizing the other person, and this is why Anita fits right into the "terrorists classification" according to the US State department.

I hope she learns to respect the fact that you don't threaten or put fear in other human beings by invoking the name of people upstairs because you have contacts with them.

Such practice and behavior, surely, no longer have place in contemporary dispensation of democracy and civilization.
