I think the only region without a regional hospital is Ashanti. Count the number of top class hospitals in Accra and compare to that of Ashanti, as well as tertiary institutions and tell me if Ashanti is part of Ghana.

Every where in the world, the capital host the best things! Name one country with the alternative! Accra or Ashanti are collectively called Ghana! so if you fancy premier hospital, just go to Accra to settle bacuase slit your throat, Accra will stil be Accra! Get that into your head!

The current practice where newly inducted doctors called house officers with no experience whatsoever are left to experiment with (attend to) serious medical cases while residents, specialists and consultants are away must be put to a stop immediately. There must be at least one specialist present 24 hours in three shift rotations to supervise them. Our health system as it is presently is not the best. The situation in the countryside and rural communities is even worse.

1. Put pressure on the President and your MP (representative) on a daily basis.

2. Watch Ghana TV News everyday

3. Have a stock pile of the tentative drugs (antiviral agents) at home.

4. If you have a relative who is a doctor or a virologist living outside Ghana ask him or her to come back home and help.

5. If possible buy acquire the ebola protective garment (body condom)

6. Do not like School of Medical Sciences KNUST.

Next to be pulled down is the criminal gang at RIDGE HOSPITAL extorting money from patients OVER AND ABOVE THE REGULAR FEES CHARGED. Here is the scoop from another post on the X-RAY DEPARTMENT at Ridge. With this happening in that department, I suspect other departments have their schemes of corruption too.

"Wondering why the gang o 4 to 6 or so staff at the X-ray department (at the Ridge hospital in Accra, a Government-Owned Hospital that has long gone down in quality since its hey days, continues to charge hapless patients referred there GHC140, only GHC30 of which is official with a receipt, even if the sign in the waiting room says not to pay moneys to staff other than the cashier? They call the unsuspecting patients into an inner room to explain the drill (away from the sign in the reception). I figure that the racket in that place collects about an average of GHC 2,200.00 EVERY SINGLE WORKING DAY, even if the service is the slowest, poorest, and most bizarre on earth, in the most unclean X-ray room I have ever seen (with a most definitely sickeningly dirty pillow you do not want to touch, and sheet to match in their promise of catching some sort of terminal nosocomial infection if you so much as got close), with staff defying every rule of basic hygiene, health and safety, exposing hapless onlookers to radiation without protection (not to mention being denied simple professional courtesies), and I could go on, and on, and on about this hideous, ghastly, and unwholesome place… Why do we allow these gangsters to collect regular pay paid by taxpayers, and perpetuate this theft of the public, ‘fili-filii’ in public, in amounts running into thousands of Ghana cedis per working day? The person I accompanied reported that, inside, the staff were talking gleefully and volubly without concern to those they had just fleeced, about what and where they were going to eat after work (the chop after the ‘chop’, I guess; not surprising, with such easy ill-gotten gains coming to them daily from unsuspecting, and helpless people). Meanwhile, the reception room there has two fans that never seem to respond to the call of a switch, and a particularly loud TV set on too high a volume for those 6 a.m. appointments they insist on giving you, even if they themselves show up at hours later and never seemed to finish the procedure on the first patient (never mind the rest) before 10 a.m. (with others waiting through until after noon and whetever your lunch hour was. Sometime well after noon, I tried some roasted plantain available near the car park for brunch. This was to calm my by-then-too-tired-to-be-hungry system. And the taxi driver who took us there reported that you have to pay some pesewas (was it 50p?) to someone staffing the entrance of the toilet, who promptly (I hope) issues you with some old / used ‘Graphic’ (used Newspaper; NOT blank newsprint) to use their toilets that are dirty and had no soap to wash your hands; and that had doors that refuse to close (so you could be visited while you are ‘visiting the private’…. Imagine!); All this in the famous Ridge Hospital in perennially upscale Ridge neighborhood of Accra… Please go take a look at Ridge (if you must), but I pray you do not NEED to…).
