Now wants to award his wife for being able to mary him for 51 years despite his sexual relationship with Elizabeth Ohene without allowing her tp marry and have own children. NPP and chief supporter Kweku Baako never saw anything wrong when Kuffour and cronies took 3.5% shares leaving only 10% for the whole country including them? And the criticism is that it's most irresponsible of both the President and his administration to have in these hard economic times doled out those free new vehicles to the chiefs!
If the public purse is empty, the economy is not doing well and, thus, we're all being asked to tighten our belt, then, the austerity must apply to all, including chiefs! And the President himself! That's the only morality that legitmises and supports austerity -- a total, comprehensive application!
If austerity is for one group and not for the others, not only does it lose its moral force but also its legitimacy and, thus, will surely fail!
As to those interpreting the gift as bribery, the incongruity of, on the one hand, the acute economic distress in the country and, on the other hand, the President doling out brand new cars to chiefs, makes that bribery interpretation not implausible and not unjustified!
If there's been some mis-interpretation so far, it's that chief who claims they, the chiefs, are guided by "ethics and values, will never engage in a bribery conduct"! Please, Nana Yiadom, the facts do not support your ethical claims! In the history of Ghana of bribery and corruption and of selling stool lands recklessly and pocketing the proceeds, some members of your grouping (the chiefs) are the leading culprits!!! So far in the life of our nation, a large number of the members of your grouping has proved to be more of a liability than an asset!
