  It is rather sad that certain individuals are intentionally sabotaging the prospects of TOR for their own personal gain at the expense of all Ghanaians. This is a recipe for disaster and the roots of the downward spiral of the cedi. The President MUST be bold and BRAVE to stop the destruction of the nation Ghana b y these crooks.

  Alex Mould was head of TOR, and now heads the Ghana National Petroleum Co. A previous exposé on Ghanaweb when Mould headed Tor revealed that it was his deliberate policy to let TOR operate at either below or zero capacity so that the the Bulk Distribution Companies that had been formed by cronies and the TOR cabal could profit from the oil importation and distribution business. Alex is now one of our millionaire oligarchs (or "oiligarchs", if you prefer!). Go figure how!

  Thats what is required in USA..each pipeline company such as Marathon oil or colonial pipeline has huge storage tank farms with 5-10 huge tanks..Then tanker trucks are sent there to fill! Allowing these companys to store is wrong..Tor must be paid fee for storing and handling the products! That makes the companies just marketers like has been done with natural gas pipelines in some USA state where the old company maintain the lines and service and the marketers just sell and are responsible for billing

  It is a good piece. I will add that we used to have petroleum department in the Ministry, TOR, fuel distribution companies and the filling stations. To make it 'better' came GNPC, BOST, NPA and BDC in addition to existing ones. All these additions costs including their profits are paid for by the end user at the filling stations as the price at the pump continues to rise. Government is therefore collecting money from the citizens for its few agents which is the main cause of the high cost of living in the country. Today, government agents can tell the citizens that TOR is not profitable but to me, it is better to make a few 'losses' and pay for than to collect money from the citizens and hand it over to a few.

  This write -up is the whole truth but what is missing is, the writer should be bold and mention the Managing Director under whose leaderships such successes were chalked and if he is in Ghana the government should consult him for his opinion on how TOR can revamp back to its former glory. I am sure all these achievements took place under the able leadership of Dr.K.K.Sarpong(2004-2009).TOR can operate well if Ghana type of politics is changed.

  Whiles Nigerians are trying to build private refineries to thwart the efforts of those who import refined petroleum products, Ghana is granting license to sharks to import refined petroleum products. These sharks do everything to ensure our refinery operates below capacity so they can make a kill. We closed our eyes over how three Nigerian refineries operate below capacity and Alhaji Dagonte initiating the building of an $8 billion-dollar private refinery to bring sanity into the oil business there. Thank you Chronicle, for bringing this issue out, because these shark companies are owned by both NDC & NPP crooks.

  TOR was indebted because the managers of its assets were vey corrupt and looted all its successes without proper accountability. how could such a blue chip be making losses?
