The death penalty is barbaric, no man and no state has the right to end a human life. Therefore, rather, the death penalty should be explicitly prohibited in the Constitution.

  How many states in USA abolish death penalty after over 210 years of democracy. Some states that even abolish it eventually brought it back and criminals sentenced to death are executed in United States.

  If you trying to find arguments for death penalty in the US (how non-african), read this text:The American Civil Liberties Union believes the death penalty inherently violates the constitutional ban against cruel and unusual punishment and the guarantees of due process of law and of equal protection under the law. Furthermore, we believe that the state should not give itself the right to kill human beings – especially when it kills with premeditation and ceremony, in the name of the law or in the name of its people, and when it does so in an arbitrary and discriminatory fashion.Capital punishment denies due process of law. Its imposition is often arbitrary, and always irrevocable – forever depriving an individual of the opportunity to benefit from new evidence or new laws that might warrant the reversal of a conviction, or the setting aside of a death sentence.
  
  The death penalty violates the constitutional guarantee of equal protection. It is applied randomly – and discriminatorily. It is imposed disproportionately upon those whose victims are white, offenders who are people of color, and on those who are poor and uneducated and concentrated in certain geographic regions of the country.
  
  The death penalty is not a viable form of crime control. When police chiefs were asked to rank the factors that, in their judgment, reduce the rate of violent crime, they mentioned curbing drug use and putting more officers on the street, longer sentences and gun control. They ranked the death penalty as least effective. Politicians who preach the desirability of executions as a method of crime control deceive the public and mask their own failure to identify and confront the true causes of crime.

We cannot Continue to live in a society where people conmitt murder n r sentenced to 80yrs or death and are kept to over crowd our prisons. They are fed n they pollute other inmates. I know signing a death warrant seen a heartless exercise but did the murderer think of the consrquency of his actions? Many people are afraid of death hence Its enactment would-be stem crimes. It is unlswful to keep harden criminals with others. Thnks.

All the nation prisons are full of brutal crimals,no enough space for them, the nation is spending tax payers money on them which can equally be use for disable or most needy people,and at the same time,our street and neighbourhood are full of savage arm rubbers,we have some MP's and and some MINISTERES with a corrupt brain, everyone in ghana is crying on the roof about corruptions, what evidence again do you parlimentarians want before you can rubber stamp the the death penalty in this constitutional amendment... Mr Avoka,stop your hypocrasy and be real. There is no need to waste money to conduct a referendum on that issue,that referendum waste money can be kept aside for ivestigation cost on any MINISTERE or MP who will be accused of corruption,if found guilty can be sentenced to death penalty.., My advise to Catholic Secretariat and the Catholic Bishop Conference for making the constitutional amendment process successful is :, "Please put yourselve into the shoes of many poor citizens who are suffering from the hands of corrupt MP's, MINISTERES and scrupulouse arm rubbers who are making the hell on our poor struggling traders,passenger car drivers and some hard working citizen,and make sure DEATH PENALTY IN THE CONSTITUTION is well rubber stamped if you have a conscions and the people of ghana in your heart.

  Catholic Secretariat and the Catholic Bishop Conference for making the constitutional amendment, We all knows that Corruption in Ghana is worse than Ebola virus, Arm rubbering is a cancer in ghanain society,we need to radicate them,and by doing so we as a citizens has to get an preemptive arsenal that can deter those who intend to fall on the Two. And the only arsenal for that is the Death Penalty in the constitution. who ever fall on this two grave offences regardless of his or her nationality or his position or the part he plays in any of the two when found quilty should face the full punishment of the nation law. No excuss of Human Right for those people,bear in mind that the victims has also their Human Right.. Please no cover up on justice and help insert and applicate the death penalty into the constitution. If that is not done,we the citizery with give the full backing to IMANI & GIRAC to investigate any rumour on corrupt politicien and their complice, if found to be truth,Citizenary will match to hunt them and make their own justice.
