Ghanains voted for union government but a military coup inspired by the West ensured we ended up with this disruptive system. We all know what our problems are and the causes. The solution is very simple but like ostriches we prefer to bury our heads in the sand
If party politics causes cronyism, corruption, tribalism, political killings and all the endless troubles, why can't we use our heads and do the right thing? Well if we pick union government the politicians who are mainly there for their own interest will not be able to do the stealing and all the other nasty things they do so they keep manipulating things to ensure we maintain this disruptive system so that they can continue to rob us. During the constitutional review, I personally did not hear anything being said on the subject. Kutu deserves praise, he had the foresight but we allowed ourselves to be deceived. During his time, we only took out very little loans for specific projects and they are there for everyone to see.

Union government was rejected in the 1970s when Kutu Acheampong tried to extend his rule through union government and he failed. The problems this Bishop is describing would not end but would rather get worse under his proposed union government. This is because they would all be stealing and no one will accuse the other of corruption. For example, how would have Kennedy Agyapong exposed the fraudulent and criminal Woyome judgement debt payments if NPP was part of a union government and Ken got his share of the booty?

There is corruption everywhere in Ghana including pastors, prophets, bishops and the churches. The solution is not union government but to strengthen accountability and anti-corruption institutions in Ghana.

tho opposition leader to elect a Vice president and his ministers to replace the existing one until the presidents term of office ends. And the president must also have power to
dissolve the Union government if they are not competent of solving the nations problems. This idea reminds me of Daniel Acheampong (student)one of Acheampongs sons at PESCO-Nkwatia -Kwahu when I told him his fathers idea will not work unless he resigns as a military leader.

Just when Nkrumah was going to end corruption by introducing a tax on the indigenous bourgeoisie class and indict Harlley and Deku for diamond smuggling, the cia backed the reactionary nlc in an illegal overthrow and counter-revolutionary rebellion against the CPP Government! The current system of a fake multi-party, two party government is just a cover for neo-colonialism and will forever breed corruption! It obfuscates the class contradiction in the system and hides, then justifies the political wing of the indigenous bourgeiois class embezzlement of state funds, which only makes coruption inherent the system because the two politicak parties must out compete the other for stealing money to stay in power! The clergy have a very easy life because all they do is try and explain something written 4000 years ago and try relating it to our lives today. in return, they receive donations, what they call offertory which they live on without any strings attached. If they are not comfortable with that, they have a choice, dump the cassock and mount the political platform. Then they will notice the difference. In the west democracies (civilized economies), pastors are pastors and not politricrian pastors

Also if the prosperity messages are reduced and replaced with holiness and salvation, that will change the minds of people and reduce corruption in our country.

Lets face it, lot of corrupt or dirty money are being offered in our churches and our preachers are happy with bigger figures and not interested where the monies came from.

I would cherish to hear a preacher say, no one should present corrupt money as offering to God in the church.

Some sort of rotational executive with sufficient checks and balances ; legislature and judiciary structure will be an option. Needs a lot careful thought. The starting point is that something is not working right.

Union government will not stop corruption. Corruption has engulfed the whole society including the churches. If you are not rich, you don't get position in a church so everybody want to get rich to be accorded a position in society. If you don't donate much in the church, the pastor do not visit you and pray for you. Immediately, you become a common Assembly member, every body withi your community want you to give monies as if you are paid. Nobody, I mean nobody including our pastors have ever questioned the source of the wealth of individuals in the society. Parents, spouses, siblings all see the the type of work each family member does but do not ask how they acquired certain things that those in the same payroll and salary category could not afford. Does this involvr union government? No, not at all. Here in the US immediately, you put about $10,000.00 in your accounts the security agency will start investigating how you got that kind of money into your accounts. Again, if you buy something that your pay could not afford, or put up anything that your pay could not afford you will be investigated to ensure you are not dealing in drugs, stealing or having any criminal activities going on. This does not involve union government. If you have corrupt judges who took their share from Woyome with corrupt attorney general's department staff and corrupt ministry of finance civil servants taking bribes icluding their spouses to dupe the country, does that need union government? We need to stop the blame game and rather put our houses together as people to fight corruption and stop these noise making. When an NPP chairman alleged that ex-president Kuffour is taking the 10% contract fees in his office, because he was the president of the day it died out. Meanwhile, Selormey died in prison for monies that were sitting at the bank. When Dr. Anane used government money to pay for his child support, nothing happened to him but Ibrahim Adam and Kwame Peprah wee jailed. It does not need union government but the habit of being truthful in our dealing from our pastors and local leaders.
