Do they have current and adequate books in their libraries for their students? Are their lecture rooms good enough for teaching students? Do the lecture rooms have very good public address systems? Money is the least thing that should motivate a lecturer.

It is what the law says and if we do not like it, we can change the law. Last year the outgoing parliamentarians demanded their ex-gratia because the law required it and they were paid.

If their pay were really stopped, that is proper. And if they should go to court to challenge the justice due them, that is also good because the courts would finally tell them the truth they are running away from. Whether the strike is legal or not, is not the issue. The issue is that, you have not worked and so you must not be paid. The worker is only worth his labour because it is his labour that keeps his company (the government) in business. If he withdraws his labour and he is paid as well, it is a double loss for his company and surely the company will go bankrupt. No sane businessman will do that.
Who will not like to stay in the house and be paid? In other words, being paid your salary while on strike, is a super motivation to go on strike on any flimsy excuse like what POTAG is presently doing. POTAG has no problem with their salary but with "book and research allowance which the government has replaced with National Research Fund" and for this, they have been on strike for over 3 months without any end in sight.
If government workers can stay away from work for so long and still be paid, it is easy to collapse the national economy by multiple strikes here and there. If the national economy collapses, everybody (including the judges whom POTAG will be going for redress) will be adversely affected. Not even Judges can boycott their work and expect to be paid.
What is surprising to me is the fact that the Government is only now getting the awareness that striking workers must not paid for the time they are on strike. POTAG actually, did not deserve their salaries for May, June, July and August. Whatever claim POTAG sends to court, the Government must reply with a counterclaim to recover all the salaries they were wrongly paid.
I think the time has come for the Government to send the message clear to all those waiting to go on strike not to try it. All labour issues can be addressed satisfactorily without strikes. Strikes are becoming the fashion because of politics and this is where the Government must prove that it can govern.

If u and your immature communicators and so called education ministers think the politechnic education is not good then cancel it from our records and stop this childish behaviour of trying to isight the public against POTAG.
Did the court not rule in POTAG's favour when the NMC sued it?
The same government claims he does not owe them but the next day begging them to return to class as he wants to pay part.
Go and collect those moneys you created, looted and shared with Woyomi, Isofoton, Gyeeda etc and use them to pay our dying hard teachers and stop this shamefull decisions and threats. If we are talking about those who did not work but received salary(pay) then they are Woyomi, Isofoton and the likes and not POTAG because if u had pay them they would have been in classrooms.

This unwarranted attitude of striking is very unfortunate . This must not be paid. Ghana govt must deal with them like how America fired transporting workers over strike.

2. In every society majority decision wins, but then, don't forget those potag members who voted for you and who may be in the minority.
3. If you consider potag as doing the bidding of the opposition and so deserve to be 'punished', then where do you place those members who voted for you and who are in the minority?
4. The only way to resolve this matter is dialogue, period! Show of power will not benefit anybody at the end of the day.
5. JM, i know things are not going easy for you, but please,the education ministry is a very difficult place for a political novice like Prof. and a professionally inadequate person like Ablakwa to handle.
JM, pls, step in and solve this matter quickly because you need everybody. Those who are pushing for salary freeze all have only one vote each. Don't discount your supporters in potag, you need them too,pls!
