Our elders have a saying that: "The fly that refuses to leave the corpse gets covered up in the grave with the dead body". I hope there is a version similar to this in the Ashanti language. The worst case scenario is some Ghanaians have been displaced by the conflict. The conflict in Tripoli is between two rival militias fighting for power. There is nothing like rebel activities in Libya now. The government should NOT waste its resources and come to evacuate any Ghanaian from Tripoli. No Ghanaian has been harmed in any way since the conflict began 1 month ago. Reports of 300 Ghanaian death are all liars and sheer fabrications.

What a callous attitude for some of you to suggest that the government shouldn't waste any money to repatriate its citizens stranded in a war zone like Libya. No matter how Osman got to Libya, any government concerned about the welfare of its citizens will do what is necessary to get them back home safely. With this kind of attitude by some of you, no wonder your government treats its citizens the way it does, with contempt. The US will go a million miles to air-lift its citizens found in similar situation as Osman, back to the US. Those air-lifted are eventually billed for the price of the airfare. Why can't the Ghanaian government to something similar?

This reminds me of Kwame Nkrumah. There was no evil name in this world that was not given to this man. There was no iniquity in this world Nkrumah was not accused of. He was even accused of trying to erase the name of God and Jesus Christ from the Bible. Those of us old enough (yours sincerely was a teenager but very well abreast of local and international issues when the Osagyefo was overthrown) to experience the Nkrumah era and the post-Nkrumah era can beat our chest with pride that Nkrumah was the best president Ghana ever had. It is only his political opponents and their misguided off-springs who, till eternity, will never say anything good about Kwame the Great.

The fate that befell Ghana is what is happening to Libya and the Libyans. Ghaddafi was neither a tyrant nor an evil man. The Libyan political class should be held responsible for the mess in that country now today. Herein lies a lesson.

Lets be realistic if they are dying out there it was their own decision to do so.
i know a guy who has 1 wife and two kids in ghana. he has no job. every morning he joins the train to accra to help load the goods of shop owners. amazingly he never comes back home empty handed. are those in Libya better than he is. yes things are not that smooth these days in ghana yet we are all managing. if you want to live then come back home. no matter how poor we are in ghana we still are the richest because we have peace.

Look,you people should talk sense,and stop the foolish talk,(ENKRUASIFOU)VILLAGERS, if the goverment has a job for this our brothers and sisters,do you think they will travel as far as Libya? is because our government is not good,we have all the resources in this country and still we are suffering,the most courrupt government i ever see in my life since i was born. the government is so courrupt until courruption become their shoes to put on,so my friends,you can't blame them and i not their fault to travel to Libya or Liberia or other part of the world to look for their hands needs,it just happen that there is war,but i tell you up there is better than our country, so the government should try and evacuate our brothers and sister back home from that war zone.let the government use some of our resounces to bring our citizens back home.This i gave former president JJ Rawlings credit for such humanterian exercise, May God bless you JJ. Since no one can independently verify Osman's claim on the death of 42 Ghanaian's at the hands of Libyan rebels, we should all believe his story to be true. The Ghana Embassy, by all accounts, is not in any position to offer any assistance to Ghanaians in Libya, coupled with that, there's no central government to complain to. The only alternative for Osman and other Ghanaians is to flee the country. If he chooses to place his life in harms way by continuing to stay in Libya, then he has no one to blame but himself.

There is no amount of pay in any North African nation that would make me take my behind over for work or pleasure. I have had the pleasure of being an undergraduate school mate with people from North Africans from Morocco, Algeria, Egypt and Tunisia and they have not been mostly good to write home about. As soccer players for our university, the folks from Northern African nations did segregate themselves from those of us from sub Sahara African nation for fear they may be linked to Africa; some were polite enough to let us know so. It may have been their desire for the women of our host nation and or racial preferences that drove them to those actions one may never know but then those were the late 60’searly 70’s.

Most in sub-Sahara African nations especially those from West Africa have not been raised to think people from some parts of Africa are more human or superior to those from other parts of Africa. We tend to discriminate within our own corner of the world based on tribe in Ghana But oh no not those brothers and sisters from North Africa. They tend to buy into the notion that black skin is inferior and do go to any extent to shun any association with the continent of Africa. It was funny when one of those college mates/soccer play mate denied Algeria being on the African continent. I chuck that to the ignorance of high school graduates from the host nation who were ignorant in geography of the world. Those were the good times on the African continent when wars were not yearly occurrence. Today they sure will have no mercy on black skin African in their country whom they perceive to be taking jobs away from the indigenes. Home sweet home and no amount of tea in China will get me near a bunch of people who can be bought and sold just as Judas did to Jesus when it counted.
