It is Nana Addo's turn so by hook or crook he has to be made the flagbearer. Of course his age is an issue and will be a campaign theme for NDC, it would be stupid for NDC to not capitalize on it. Of course, the alternative which is Alan is no better, because Alan is not a strong candidate for president of Ghana, he is just like Mahama. My take is whoever stands on the NPP side may win (assuming the elections were held today) because in politics a year is eternity and things can change quickly if the NDC pulls its weight. Sekou is saying what many are thinking so don't get on his case.

In the United States of America we had it with the great Ronald Wilson Reagan (RRR) in the 1980s, with John McCain in 2008 against Obama and we have had it with so many Senators, as well as congressional candidates. What’s wrong with questioning somebody’s age in modern politics?

How the hell can an old man survive a grueling political campaign, let alone governing a whole country and dealing with other countries abroad, if that old man can't even get out of his damn bed?

I think the retired GBC boss is completely off the wall with his DNA test question. Sekou has every right to question the age of a candidate--young or old. Why can't 15 & 17 year olds VOTE, Mr. Ampem? Because they're too young to make an informed decision and so as old wo/men—they can't think right and that's why? I’m not a fan of Sekou. Did Mr. Ampen-Darko ever question the parentage of any of those who preceded Sekou in expressing such a concern?

I am not sure many a decent Ghanaian would like to associate with folks like Mr. Ampem-Darko, Okoampa-Ahoofe, Jr. etc, who resort to despicable personal insults at those who dare question their ideas.

Many discerning and decent Ghanaians believe such a behavior belongs to the intolerant, megalomaniacal bunch who would rather have the rest of us all see them as the only folks with any significant intelligence that matters in Ghana. What a shame!!

By the way, since when did Mr. Ampem-Darko ever come to appreciate Nkrumah to wonder if his son were really his or not? It is his clique that has been waging a lifelong war to trash Nkrumah, and even dehumanize him, for how the late President might have treated Danquah, their demi-god of a beloved Politician and relative.

I wonder if Danquah, himself, would have approved that kind of democratic participation in Ghanaian Politics.

I don't think Ampem Darko had had any problem with Sekou's paternity until he opposed Akufo Addo's flagbearership for NPP. The question around his paternity is only arising to Ampem Darko from the fact that Sekou opposes Akufo Addo leading the NPP.
I guess Nana Ampem Darko himself is only sure of his father being his father because he supports Akufo Addo. In other words, the very day he supports another person, he will have to go for a paternity test to check if the man he has all this while known to be his father is actually his father. This is how a person can become unreasonable when he does politics blindly. Sekou is only speaking his opinion and it is either you accept it or reject it.
It is this type of warped thinking that is tearing the NPP apart. As far as Akufo Addo and his supporters are concerned, Akufo Addo is the divine choice to lead the NPP and anyone who opposes (or appears to oppose) him must be crushed.
Until NPP is able to put into history the era of Akufo Addo's obsessive ambition in their party, they should forget about winning political power today or tomorrow.

His comments about Addo's age are legitimate, you don't have to be intelligent or super smart to figure out that an old coot cannot efficiently run a country. Akuffo-Addo is only driven by his ambition to create a hegemonic line with his father, who wouldn't have stood a chance of being elected as President, if he'd contested it. (He was appointed. Nana Addo will make a terrible president. He's blinded by ambition and only wants it for the sake of being president, not doing anything that would improve the lives of our citizens.

As a nation we can only advance if we change our negative attitude to positive by tolerating one another and our different views to accommodate our constitution-, laws, beliefs, values and environment etc. AMPEM-Darko is displaying his naivity. A former director of GBC has nothing to say about that assertion than to request for a DNA test because he mentioned that Nana Addo Dankwa is of age so that party should not bank on him too much as party flag-bearer. Crazy folk
