No modern, cultured, enlightened leader who understands planning and having a vision, will make cleaning backward, primitive gutters the solution to the problem of proper urban sewerage and drainage. No, this can't be the national policy after 200+ years of British colonialism and 50+ of independence. You don't maintain backward infrastructure put in by the British colonialists. The billions of dollars stolen by the NDC government and the former NPP administration could have provided a modern sewerage system for Ghana in all the major cities. You don't get it that the gutter system was an idiotic idea by the British, to begin with (where in Britain did they ever construct gutters?). The gutters are the breeding grounds for malaria and cholera, in case you didn't know. It is a completely backward and dangerous system. An enlightened leader will have a plan to modernize and replace the bloody primitive and disease-causing colonial system with a modern sewerage system! Rawlings ruled for nearly 20 years and the current NDC administration has been back since 2008. What did they do all those years? Does Mahama have any plan to modernize the sewerage system or is occasional gutter sweeping by the leadership effectively the national policy for sewerage and drainage systems in the cities? Think 21st century solutions not those of the 18th century looting and exploiting British colonialists!

Where has his humility done to develop Ghana or solve electricity problems or provide food or solving the bread and butter issues vis-a-vis the hard and polarized economy of Ghana? NDC came to destroy all the good policies instituted by NPP including GETFUND, School Feeding Program, Free Maternal Care, National Insurance Scheme, District Assembly Common Fund and the Metro Mass Transportation system. They have managed to destroy all of these programs. How callous could they be than this? And finally they have stolen all assets belonging to Ghana, selling all to themselves as beneficiaries. They have stolen Ghana's bulky money in the treasury and last but not the least; they have created Gyeeda, Woyome, Sada, Subah, Merchant Bank, all in the name of judgment debt but rather criminally sharing the monies among themselves. How dare you? I mean how cruel are you to behave like this? NDC is typical in stealing, killing and destroying just as Satan the devil.

What is the essence of the AMA? What is the essence of the waste management companies who are supposed to have signed contracts to get rid of filth in the country? Where is the leadership in the country to get things done more intelligently, thoughtfully and efficiently?
This is completely disgusting for it's propaganda and populist worth and come to think of it, the Vice President did a much better job in showing the kind of leadership needed to address the kind of filth that has plagued the country and most especially the capital, Accra.
For the President to engage in this early 80's populist stance, is not just unfortunate, but shows clearly, the kind of thinking that has been brought to bear on the administration of the country under the Mahama NDC gov't. It's a crass joke.

If your going to pay these people at least you can insist they work (clean the city ) as charged for the pay check you give them monthly.

Yuor administration need to put qualified people as directors of your agencies and ministries NOT politicians because if the above doesn't change in Ghana(QUALIFIED AND COMMITTED ADMINISTRATORS AT THE HEM OF AGENCIES} every president in Ghana will be cleaning the streets as you did.
Get the people charge to do the work working and get them the Equipments they need to do the job .

30years of P(NDC) administration, their leaders have not been able to address the issue of filth, and actually, it keeps worsening and cholera has affected close to a staggering amount of almost 10,000 Ghanaians, an another unprecedented feat under the Mahama NDC gov't. In the 80's such populist and propaganda acts, when all was said and done, led Ghana into going HIPC. If a lot more thinking had gone into the planning and fixing of the waste management situation in the country as well as the sewage situation, a relic of the Nkrumah administration, we would not have the same populist and propaganda fueled actions playing out, whilst the country gets buried further into HIPC and stagnation. This is deja vu all over again and it's very scary for the country, very, very scary after almost 30 years of the NDC gov't because it is clear that Ghana has wasted almost 30 years of it's existence for absolutely nothing.

He staggered back up, put one leg inside the gutter and kept going like that until his pastor saw him. "What are you doing brother?" the pastor asked while pulling him out of the gutter. The drunk then started shouting, "I am healed, I am healed, praise the Lord."

Money to pay them? A tax of a Cedi of all workers each month is enough to employ others and give them them the tools to create a healthy environment.
Rawlings did this but it never worked and that explains why the filth is there. Let us find pragmatic solution to the filth. I do not think other heads of state do this.

This man is our leader but because of his enormous potential, these same dadabas (who look down upon poor folks) have devised means to distract him from reaching his goal of transforming the country for the betterment of majority of Ghanaians.

But God is on President Mahama side, distraction or no distraction, Ghanaians will put him on the throne again in 2016 so he can finish his course for all to see how he has changed the standard of living of all Ghanaians especially the disenfranchised groups.
