  One small part of the solution is for Regions/Districts to sponsor potential medical hands for training with a strict undertaking to serve the sponsors for an agreed period after graduation .

  It goes without saying that the deprived areas could themselves also show commitment by making good living facilities available to the doctors as an incentive for the latter to move there.

  What happened to the doctors trained at my expense who come from the northern regions ?. How do you blame docs from the south or coast who aren`t too keen in moving up north when the indegenes up north are busily setting up private clinics in Accra as part-time jobs? Charity surely begins at home. The call for more acceptance of transfers up north must be led by my northern brothers and sisters and then followed by everybody. The medical needs up north is probably more acute and we should all do well to address the problem.

  Let qualified doctors sign contracts with Districts/Regions for 5 year term. This may solve the problem.

  It's almost certain that when they have received their post-graduate training, they will then elect to stay in the "golden triangle" of Accra,Kumasi or Takoradi.

  It's almost certain that when they have received their post-graduate training, they will then elect to stay in the "golden triangle" of Accra,Kumasi or Takoradi.
  It may make sense therefore to improve the overall envelop of incentives, including preferential salaries and allowances; improved housing and transport facilities as well as the core operational infrastrucutre such as equipment and drugs and buildings that would enhance their working environment.
  The current spate of neglect is such that this incentive on its on, will be inadequate as a retention package.
