Its a total disgrace when you will see immigration officers demanding and begging customers for common things like cereal, very disgraceful....I am a ghaniain and i have to be honest, People treat us with respect in other lands and airports than ghana our homeland. I so surprise and ashame that this writer even brought this issue on this media. I dont think any Ghanaian who has ever travel before from Kotoka has any good thing to say about our immigration officers and staffs. Place we deserved it ...period.

On arrival in KIA one can gauge the corruption barometer in the country alone by the open display of ineptitude and corruption in Ghana by the immigration and custom officers, as they will pester you for favours and money; and this is not even the small guys but the big ones who adorn somewhat valet uniform and follow you around like dogs, seemingly to assist you, when in fact all they are doing is lalasulala.

Had it been in Morocco... the person involved be it the president of this nation, would have been denied entry until processed as the law requires.

It is prestigious because the only one escalator does not work. The arrival hall is dusty and sometimes industrial fans are put there that blow hot air and more dust. Prestigious indeed.

Many airports have diplomatic channels at customs/immigration. I suppose this falls under the old diplomatic immunity privileges enjoyed by foreign representatives.It up to the FO to explain this in order to prevent a mix up.

Please don't call for the suspension of the immigration officer. There was nothing he could do for the sake of his job. The woman is a Government representatives and should be carefully dealt with. This is an Ambassador of a Country. The authorities of the KIA may just turn against him for denying an Ambassador entry; you know Ghana. To protect his job he took that decision to save it. But the only thing the passport officials could have done was to refuse the stamping of the passport sent through a proxy, and ask the person to return the passport to her unstamped and tell her to come personally. I believe that should be one of the immigration rules.

First, whoever(Kojo Hadjor?) wrote this article must do a better job. The report is poorly structured and wonder if the writer was properly trained on how to write an account. Was the writer writing from first hand source, copied or was told about the story? He(Kojo) mixed descriptive and narrative structures of reporting(BTW I'm not a journalist but Kojo Hadjor should do better next time.

Second, who told Kojo Hadjor that KIA is prestigious? Is it because it is named after Kotoka? Whilst every airport is named after heroes and great statesmen, Ghana's airport is named after someone (traitor) who illegitimately overthrows a "founder of a nation" who is adjudged to be the best Ghana and Africa ever had. No wonder the country is a failed state and sinking fast by each day.

Third, no one respect the rule of law in the Country so what do you expect? The authorities will do nothing and will even go and apologise to this disrespectful lady. After all, Ghana is a country where foreigners are treated better than the nationals. What a pity!! Is it a shock that any foolish person just enters the country and starts digging for gold. To the writer, Kojo Hadjor, do you have any hatred for Moroccans? Do you know the Diplomatic protocols which was singed by Nations (including Ghana) in Vienna Dipolmtic (Immunities), Convetion 1961? The Moroccan H.E. Ambassador HÁmmid knows her right as Ambassador very well.

Diplomats and Ambassadors, accredited, are not to be searched, and can refused if she or he wants, if Ghanaian Diplomats are allowed to be searched in Countries they are accredited to then, it is their innocent knowledge.

Ambassadors are always head of Missions representing, a country, and she can refuse permission even to be searched at the premises of the Embassy, or any of her Diplomatic colleague`s Residence.

Example, is when a Lilyan Diplomat shot a British Police in London some years back, when they wanted to search the Embassy, what happened? The only thing is to ask the Diplomat to leave the Country as a result ot of his immunity. There are so many incidents which happened throughout the World on Diplomacy, so if you do not, know What immunities are stop writing nonsenses (this is not to play Politics as you Ghanians do), and not to put Ghana in an awkward position. Ghanians do not hate Arabs, or any Nations. We are law abiding people, except these few unthinkable ones.

In which case, she is to respect Ghana and the Foreign ministry should remind her that, Ghana is a sovereign state and can not be taken for granted.
As an expert of International Relations, there is no way a foreign Ambassador can behave in the same manner in Morocco. Even in Morocco, Ambassadors are not picked up on the tarmac to any VIP lounge. Ambassadors are allowed to use the VIP lounge only on prior notification for a special visit to the Moroccan State Protocol office.
Your Excellency Moroccan Ambassador, we know Arabs do no naturally respect blacks if you've stayed at North Africa before. Remember you are in Ghana and you should respect us where you've accepted to serve as an Ambassador.

Honestly? It's not a big deal at all and highly overrated.

First: We are only allowed to use it when travelling on an official trip, i.e. never on leisure trips. However, this varies from country to country, meaning in many countries holders of diplomatic passports do not have regular passports, too. It also depends on whether you are based at home or one based abroad, i.e. accredited to another country or an international organisation. In the latter case, it is more likely that you'd be allowed to travel at all times on your diplomatic passport.

Second: A diplomatic passport does NOT necessarily guarantee entry anywhere. For example, in many cases visa requirements are the same for both diplomatic and regular passport holders (prime example, the USA). However, it is true that in some cases, where regular passport holders from country A require a visa to enter country B, diplomatic passport holders from A do not.

Third: All the stuff about customs etc is simply not true. This only applies to people accredited to a country, in the country where they serve. All the rest of us and in all the other countries are subject to normal customs rules.

Fourth: Yes, sometimes there are separate immigration desks, but these are few and far between. I have so far only seen them at FRA (but not everywhere), ATH (though the queue was actually longer) and NRT.

Fifth: No special treatment really at airline lounges, no upgrades, nothing. These things go to the people with the colourful cards - as it should be

Sixth: Honestly, I have found sometimes that going through immigration with a diplomatic passport is slower. Why? Because it is different, it often intrigues agents and makes them look through it just that bit longer. So now, within the EU, official trip or not, I travel with my ID only!

How shameful when they should have boldly retained it and request her to pick up in person then cut her to size. Oh Ghanaian officials they probably are in her pocket hence the impudence.

1)she must be doing drugs.
2) Ghanaians lack confidence in thmeselves
3)Light skinned worshippers
4)Lack of proper training on the part of Ghana Immigration Services to their personell.
