Those were some great and fun events for a graduate student whose life on campus was mostly restricted to academics.

My prayers goes out to Juanita, your sons , your extended family and all the Ghanaian family in Syracuse!

I could not believe when I heard the sudden death of this great man, Kwame 'Tieku. I heard about this great man from countless people in and around Syracuse before I met him in Syracuse.

I went to Syracuse to see a family member who is a medical doctor there but before I left the city, he asked me to go with him to greet his best friend and that best friend was Kwame 'Tieku ( Using Tieku here because in pronunciation, I believe the "O" in front of Tieku is silent). That should tell you how how he was valued and respected in Syracuse.

On another occasion, I was talking to a brilliant Chemical Engineer with 2 patents and a director at one of a big companys in the States, who lives in the upstate New York. And as we were discussing situation about those in upstate NY; Rochester, Albany, Syracuse and Buffalo, he made mention of how Tieku had helped in his small ways to bring people together in that area. I told him I had met the man and he was not surprised, because every good person in and around Syracuse will one way or the other come to know that great man just like 'Agrar kweku' who had not even seen the man but wrote passionately about him here.

So for those of you who hate Ahoofe and his politics, this is not the time to rejoice about someone's death. You may have to wait for a while to go and dance on Ahoofe's grave but it is uncouth and pathetic to do so on the passing of someone you hardly know. DEATH IS A GREAT LEVELER just as the good book said "it is appointed unto man ONCE to live, then after this the judgment."

Will anyone- bad or good person- thinks about you to write your obituary anywhere? That is the question we should ask ourselves instead of living our lives to 'love to hate' unnecessary. Tieku is gone to meet his maker and he has the bad (Ahoofe) and good men testifying about him; kindness, sincerity, honesty, love, and peaceful nature to the world. So please, give it up.

Also, there is nothing wrong with the last paragraph. I can't believe why our people can't understand this simple English sentence. The last paragraph deals with his family. Ahoofe is just telling us the years, (31) this man lived with his wife. He also told us the MAIDEN name of the woman before she met Tieku and that was why he used "the former." And he finally told us that he had TWO SONS with the woman who had given their parents 3 grandkids. Folks this is simple English comprehension and if you are finding it difficult to comprehend that, may be it is about time you sought help from English Classroom rather than being on forum like this.

Kwame, due, due ne amanehunu. May you rest in peace and may the good Lord grant courage, strength and wisdom to your wife, kids and grandkids to move on.

Sorry to learn of the loss of Brother Kwame. I met Kwame in early 90s when I worked as a government software defense contractor at both GE Plants in Syracuse & Liverpool, NY.

I was excited when I was told a fellow Ghanaian worked at the plant. I quickly searched for Kwame's work phone, called him and arranged to meet at lunch time. We found we had something in common. He schooled in Boston & since I travelled from the Boston area each week to the plant, we each had mutual friends.

He subsequently invited me to his house in Liverpool for dinner, since I was a lonely guy marking my time at my stay at the local hotels. During the week after work, I accompanied him to watch his oldest son (who was a prolific soccer player) at practice and local matches.

He watched my back so that I could not tread on dangerous grounds at sensitive areas of the plant. We communicated daily upon my arrival every Monday at the work site.

Unfortunately, we lost touch after my contract expired. We bumped into each other at a social event last year in Worcester, MA. It was like old times. He had retired from GE & we reminisced about our past years together in Syracuse.

I will miss him for his good deeds, advice & sensitivity.

May God Bless Juanita & her kids, Nana Yaw & Omar.

Rest in Peace. May the angels welcome you into their bosom in heaven.
