We've been hearing similar cases about missing money & even when the allege culprits are found, nothing is done to them. Everybody chop chop in government, it's the way of life in Ghana.

If the PAC establishes that some money has been missing or misappropriated, the case must be handed over to the Judiciary for immediate legal processing, leading to prosecution of the culprits. The PAC would then follow up to ...

If the PAC establishes that some money has been missing or misappropriated, the case must be handed over to the Judiciary for immediate legal processing, leading to prosecution of the culprits. The PAC would then follow up to see that the culprit gets the sentence deserved. And if anyone in the Judiciary messes the case up to set the culprit free, that Judicial personnel must also be hammered without mercy.

It is not enough just to have the money refunded. If culprits go unpunished, others would always attempt to repeat the offense. Persistent criminals among our high ranking Officials would always study how previous cases were discovered and try to improve on their thieving skills to make their next theft harder to discover. The PAC may have to devise new ways to monitor all disbursements to their final intended purpose to ensure the end justified the means.

So, long as these kleptocrats know they would not go to jail or made to pay any penalty for their crimes, they will always try to steal by other means.

Besides, the Nation still loses if the stolen monies were recovered in full but no interest were demanded for the period they were in the custody of the kleptocrats.

So, I strongly would recommend that even after the monies are recovered in full, the culprits have to face jail terms and forced to pay interests on the amounts involved for the time the Nation was denied access to the funds while in the accounts of the thieves.

Enough is enough! If Parliarment fails to do as suggested, I would reserve the right to claim it is because they all are complicit in similar thefts elsewhere in our System.

If the PAC could make this duty of investigating cases of this nature a routine role and follow each case through to the end where the culprit is dealt with as suggested above, Ghana would be all the better for it as that could impale corruption right in the spine.

I wish GYEEDA, ISOTOFON, SADA etc., misappropriations would all take similar rounds for real Justice to be meted out.
