The problem has been there because we fail to see prisoners as part of society whose needs have to taking care because we put them there. There are so many foodstuff which rot away in farmlands due to inability to preserve foods and transfer them to where they are needed for strategic purposes. This is the job for our agricultural ministers.

(no trotro fare, no clothes, no rent, no utility, no medical bills)

300 divided by 5 dependents = ghc60
per month for the 5 members in the household.

ghc60 divided by 30 days (in a month)
= GHC2 per day

I bet you the prisoner feeding on ghc.1.80 is better off. since he does not have to any rent or any type of bills.

Frankly, some security personnel don't even make GHC300 per month.

Please tell me if this is not true.

Go figure.

Done in USA for long time..Even mexican illegal aliens get them in USA if they go kids..i stood in line behind mexicans in market and they had 300 cedi($50) in food stamp(ebt) credit against their bill...This also support the farmers

People survive without eating meat, it is not a luxury, it is a habit. I wish I was a vegetarian, but I have acquired the habit, it is so difficult to convert, yet though I can afford, I don't always get to eat meat and of course fish.

You must realize that there are several Ghanaians who are not incarcerated yet eating meat for them is a luxury, and few can afford it. In some Ghanaian homes the house owners treat their maidservants just the same.

Stop your lamentation and find out the reason why. Maybe the wardens take the meat home, just like most irresponsible Ghanaian administrators, they will steal government property dry. What sympathy would they have for a prisoner without meat/fish.

They should make these prisoners farm their own meals, raise poultry and goats on the prison yard. CASE CLOSED!

Keep it that way. How many struggling ordinary law-abiding Ghanaians get Soup and Kooko daily? The only problem I find in the piece has to do with those who have been on remand for TEN YEARS??? What exactly is wrong with us? What do the host of employees in the Prison Service, the Police, Ministry of Justice, the Courts, etc do? Hon Minister, forget the Meat and Sugar and tackle this one O O O .

In order to reduce number of remind prisoners,whoever pleaded not guilty must be granted bail apart from major crimes such as robbry and murder untill the suspect is proved guilty before the law court.
