You did hit the nail right on the top. Alan Kyeremanten is really at lost. Certainly, he will soon see the end of political career. By his actions one will draw a conclusion that he is a very, very selfish as well as greedy individual. Left to him alone, it is either him or no one else. To him and his stupid friends such as Dr. Anane, "The He Goat", to hell with NPP if he is not the flagbearer of NPP. His actions show that he will be a big thief should he ever become the president of Ghana. Ghana is not ready for such an individual. By the Grace of God Alan Kyeremanten will never be a flagbearer of any party let alone get the chance to rule the country as a president in his life time. Amen!!!

Why does the NPP honestly think they can win the next election with Akuffo Addo as their leader?

A simple arithmetic would show that this is simply impossible for the following reasons.

1. We all know very well that Ghanaians vote on tribal lines. This means that Mahama would definitely win the two Upper Regions and the Northern Region.

2. Ashanti Region - Although it is likely Akuffo Addo will win this Region, this would only be by very small margin, given that Ashantis, for good reasons don't always vote for their own.

3. Brong Ahafo and Western Regions - From time immemorial, we know that the Ashantis don't quite get on with the Brongs and they will hate to see Akuffo Addo win. This means if Mahama campaigns hard, he might win Brong Ahafo Region. Western Region is very similar to Brong Ahafo and wouldn't like to vote an Ashanti. Fantes in the Western Region would hate to see an Ashanti win the race.

4. Eastern Region - We all know Akuffo Addo is from the Eastern Region, however for some unknown reason, majority of Ghanaians associate him with the Ashantis. Moreover, there is a strong Ewe representation in the Eastern Region, due to its closeness to the Volta Region. Also, Krobos who are dominant in the Eastern Region have similar characteristics to Ewes as they are very interrelated. Eastern Region Krobos are in a way similar to the Adas, whom though are Gas, are more closely related to Ewes. Based on these factors, it is clear that Eastern Region will go to NDC.

5. Central Region - We all know that Fantes for historical reasons never want anything to do with Ashantis as they consider the Ashantis pompous who like to look down upon them. For this simple reason, you can bet that NDC will win the Central region as they have always done.

6. Greater Accra Region - Gas are very humble people who leave very simple lives. They hate opulence and would not like to vote anyone who will be perceived as coming to fleece the country of its wealth. Having followed Ghanaian politics for sometime now, I would be surprised if NPP wins the Greater Accra Region. As history shows, they always vote for the NDC.

7. Volta Region - The Volta Region is noted for its astuteness behind the NDC. Since party politics started in Ghana, (I stand for correction), but I don't remember any seat in the Region being won by any other party than the NDC. If a Region can consistently deliver an average of 99% vote for a particular party, then this Region must be really important for the NDC and if I were planning campaigns for the NPP, I would rather leave out this Region as there is no way NPP is ever going to make in-roads in this Region.

It can therefore be seen from the above that although Akuffo Addo is very popular in the NPP, this would not necessarily translate into a win for the NPP during the presidetial elections.

I therefore hope members of the NPP would see beyond his popularity within his own party and elect someone who will be popular within the country as a whole and can win votes from all Regions.

Any other NPP candidate with modearte characteristics can tip the balance in elections as Kuffour did, winning Central, Accra, Brong Ahafo and doing well in Western regions. But that was Kuffour known in Ghanaian politics as the gentle giant who appealed to all tribes in 2000, through his measured approach and cultured utterances. Nana Addo comes with a lot of bagggage which makes himm attractive only to core NPP members and not the generality of Ghanaians. His utterances and posture as well the dubious people with whom he has and continue to associate with, these are very serious issues that weigh very negaively against him. Yet the NPP think otherwise.

2. the idea is that Ghana is a not a federal state, so its all about vote accumulation, so up the ante in places not traditionally favorable.

3.if you follow politics like you say you do,you will realize the npp is jointly promoting Akuffo Addo and Bawumia, given Bawumia a lead roll in the court case, gave him prominence in the npp and for all tribes to see, choosing him as his running mate for the next elections although he Akuffo Addo himself has not won the right to lead the party yet is another positive move to douse the tribal trends as you put it.

This is the more reason why he took the back seat in all that concerns the party in the run -off to the 2014 polls and subsequent legal action. They termed the court case 'Akuffo-Addo and Co' vs. NDC not NPP vs NDC. If this is true, then that sounds like the cry of a drowning man an the Pacific Ocean. Man, you can beat, so better join them, ok?
