There is a place where you can be sure that you would find a representative (MP) from every part of Ghana year round gathered together to deliberate on the future and the current state of this country. Where is that? Parliament house of course. If there is such a place then how should the place and the people there be treated in the scheme of things? What priority should such a house be given in the governance of the country? If there is such a place then what kind of people should we send there and how should we assess their performance?

Parliament must also provide a readily available renovated residence in Sakumono to a newly elected parliamentarian. Accommodation in Accra/Tema is expensive and not every MP-elect may have the money to rent a house as he or she may have exhausted his or her funds running for office.

Let me remind all the NPP members the argument Nana Akufo-Addo made at the party’s Congress in Sunyani in 1998 in his opposition to giving candidate John Agyekum Kufuor the second chance after losing to Rawlings in 1996. Here was Nana Akufo: “I call on members of the party [NPP] to embrace change in leadership of the party. Such changes are far from harming the fortunes of the party. Change improves the chances of political parties as a new face eventually means new ideas, new methods and new strategies…any candidate elected as the NPP's flag-bearer has already secured 30% of the total valid votes. Failure to garner the remaining 20% plus 1 means the candidate has failed, and therefore must be changed” (ref: Ghana Daily Graphic, October 8, 1998). If John Kufuor back then did not deserve to be nominated for the second consecutive time, why is it okay now for Nana Akufo-Addo to seek the party’s nomination the third consecutive time, having led NPP to two painful electoral defeats in 2008 and 2012? Well, it seems like Nana Akufo-Addo is getting ready to take NPP to the electoral slaughterhouse in 2016 all over again. Let the self-denials ignore the warnings

It would appear that those in control of the NDC, for the time being, were bent on excluding other bona fide members of the Party who may wish to lay democratic claims to who becomes the next flag bearer of the Party by excluding them even before the mortal remains of the demised President were interred. It is also symptomatic of how political party elites in Ghana and Africa worm their way into the confidences of persons perceived as likely to ascend to power positions for purposes of eventual personal economic gain at the expense of the generality of the mass of Party members and the Nation which every President swears to serve under the Constitution...

The death of Nigerian President Umaru Yar'Adua, at 58, should be on everyone's mind. Akufo Addo by all account is a good man who loves his country dearly we love him back even more and thank him for that, yet his posthumous presidential intentions are glaringly not what Ghana needs now

Does Akuffo-Addo not have handlers? Why is it that such sensitive issues are left to controversial 'outsiders' like Kweku Baako to iron out?

If Akuffo-Addo's communication handlers are not competent - which clearly seems to be the case, then they should be replaced - that is if he still wants to win the NPP flag-bearer and national Presidential elections. He can even step out of line and officially appoint Kweku Baako for that role so that they can restrict him to what he can say and what he cannot say.

No serious politician or serious political backstage men would publicly say that " .....(Nana) will never stoop low to spread even a “pesewa” on any person within the NPP in an attempt to win their votes."

This is a statement which can cause extreme damage to any politicians desire to win elections - any elections anywhere in the world.

First of all, the substance of that statement cannot ever possibly be true in all cases, including that of Akuffo-Addo. Party functionaries in all cases at all levels everywhere, are 'motivated' to get things done in favour of their preferred candidate. Whether this motivation is effected in hard cash or in kind, it really does not matter and at the end of the day, it all amounts to the same thing.

Secondly, such an irresponsible statement has the capacity to demoralize party foot-soldiers who much as they may genuinely root for Akuffo-Addo, would at the same time expect that certain favours should be forthcoming. It has become the culture of the multi-party electioneering process. Many people would only join a political party if there was even just the faintest hope that he/she can benefit from a full glass of akpeteshie from the campaign team before the election campaign is over.

The electioneering period is the only time that foot-soldiers and the rank and file of political parties in Ghana can benefit from the so-called democratic process that we are pursuing. If, as Kweku Baako's loud mouth has stated, Akuffo-Addo will not 'spread', mark my word, potential supporters will shift over in large numbers to Allan 'Cash' where at least in principle and by the connotation of that smart epithet 'Cash', they are being lured with the promise of generous spreading.

Kweku Baako is no credible Journalist. He is a known Nana's friend and would say anything to defend him. However, this phenomenon of money circulating to induce votes for Nana is not a new thing. Similar charges preceded the chaos in NPP that led to Alan's transient exit from the Party.

If Nana himself would not distribute cash to buy votes, his lieutenants might. The most important thing is to have NPP neutral investigators and the ED team up to investigate such rumors against all camps.

Vote buying is illegal and a felony. And anyone who does that must be apprehended and prosecuted. Alan's camp must not excluded from any such investigations.

The elections must be free and votes must not be coerced from the Electorate. Period!
