  Some of the hawkers are working as spies for armed robbers. They come in to see if there are some richly dressed passengers in the bus. They relay the description of the bus, time of departure and destination to the robbers so that they can carry out operations along the way.

  Its the society's fault,there is a law that prohibits that.The society is so docile and always fears to fight for its right,people who are outspoken are seen as "TOO KNOWN".Next time challenge the drivers & the hawkers.

You pay a hefty amount to ride in comfort and safety and some preacher man or preacher woman hops onto the bus which in fact is a confined space, with the hurling engine and starts shouting on top of his/her voice in the guise of preaching or selling wares. Stinking saliva droplets from the mouths polluting the very little and stale air.. And you dump fellow think it is ok..Yeah? This is the most stupid comment. If the roads are no good as you've stated, will the additional shouts and disturbance not irritate the passengers more? Please think well before you bleat out such stupidity!

  There is 'hawking' in all or most international flights; and there is 'hawking' also in several other public transport systems such as in tour buses operating in Europe and elsewhere in the developed world.
  
  Would we have liked it, if, instead of "hawkers", we had "armed robbers" infiltrating our "VIP Buaes"??????

  @OtchereDarko, if you describe what happens on international flights as hawking then you have a suspect definition of hawking. Hawking is carrying about and offering goods for sale, typically advertising them by shouting.

  On international flights you are given a brochure to browse, and if you're interested in an item you attract the attention of a hostess.I've experienced this once on a KLM flight to and from Accra, and have since flown with other major carriers on the Europe-Asia-Africa route without any 'selling' on board.
  To contend that 'there is hawking In all or most international flights' is stretching the point too far. I stand to be corrected.
  
  On the proper question of hawking in VIP buses in Ghana: the practice will not stop or be stopped because our Ghana is one big village (akruaase) in need of development which, dare I say, will take a millennium to accomplish. It's not a question of preferring hawkers to armed robbers in VIP busses. Both are miscreants in the path of the march towards civilisation in Ghana that need active elimination by all well-meaning Ghanaians.

  If the VIP drivers will not listen to the plight of their passengers then they should boycott their busses and look for somewhere else. Because I know the fares on these VIP busses are more expensive than the regular busses and if their passengers cannot get the comfort of their monies then they should look for other alternative and walk off the V.I.P busses. If that happens the busses owners start loosing business a change will follow.

  A man gets on a VIP bus, and ends up sitting next to a very attractive nun. Enamored with her, he asks if he can have sex with her. Naturally, she says no, and gets off the bus. The man goes to the bus driver and asks him if he knows of a way for him to have sex with the nun.
  "Well," says the bus driver, "every night at 8 o'clock, she goes to the cemetery to pray. If you dress up as God, I'm sure you could convince her to have sex with you."
  The man decides to try it, and dresses up in his best God costume. At eight, he sees the nun and appears before her.
  "Oh, God!" she exclaims. "Take me with you!" The man tells the nun that she must first have sex with him to prove her loyalty. The nun says yes, but tells him she prefers anal sex. Before you know it, they're getting down to it, having nasty, grunty, loud sex. After it's over, the man pulls off his God disguise.
