Honesty, if I were you, I would strike the first honouring by finding out the authenticity of the said posting from the office of the Deputy Director in the Fiscal Affairs Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Dr. Sanjeev Gupta's tabs if indeed, what is reported here is what he voiced out before the press? Should that be crystal clear as reported, then our present Government is at fault for cooking up figures before the IMF and must not be condoned and the question of their reason for doing so must be answered fairly and squarely.

On the other hand, if it's just one of everyday's cock-and-bull story coming constantly across the aisle, then one always know where to pick the appropriate tools to go toe to toe on this. Dr Bawumiah told Ghanaians this useless bunch of create, loot and share thieves have been doing this in Mahama's administration and Dr Nii Moi Thompson and other Keta University school of Economics graduates jumped on him now he has been vindicated. Their inflationary figures does not tarry with reality.

Rawlings Ndc administration did this too and Ghana was penalized for $20 million.

Dr Kwabena Duffour did the same in 2009 telling the IMF and World Bank how good the Economy was bequeathed to them Ndc which the Bretton woods agencies agreed only for Duffour to cook different figures than what he presented to Bretton Woods in his budget presentation that year. Whenhe was qquestioned about the two different statistical figures, he said he presented good economic figures to IMF so as to get the loan they needed at that time.

This should not come as a shock to any sensible Ghanaian, this is Ndc modus operandi.

The fact that, Acheampong could mobilise Ghanaians and initiate "Operation Feed Yourself " to rally us all around his government. Yes, it is true the Maatemehu crew were seriously at work to derail his policies and yet, he was quite successful. Myriad of examples abound and I will refer u to a few: Does any of my readers remember the various regional development cooperation like: EREDEC, VORADEP, CEDECOM, NORADEP ect; ect? Yes, it was his brain-child and they were successful vehicles of development for our various regional capitals and their satellite towns across Ghana.

Secondly, he made sure the regional administrations were useful to the purpose for each region. He appointed career commissioned soldiers as regional ministers to make sure the assigned jobs were done, both at the regional levels and district levels as well. To the extent that, the regional commissioners always made it a part of their responsibility to visit all schools, whether private or public to ascertain for themselves the conditions of pupils and students. This is what we called leadership by example. He Acheapong's government also initiated the building of manifold residential estates across Ghana and the few examples I can name now are: North Kaneshie Estates, Dansoman and Teshie Nungua Estates and these are in Accra, and in Koforidua, they built, under the able of leadership of the then regional commissioner, Colonel Minyila of blessed memory, ( Rest in Perfect Peace) Adweso Estates, New Estates, Nurses Quarters, 205 area and the Old Estates all in Koforidua. And within Koftown itself they undertook one of the largest expansion and beautification of a regional capital in the annals of Ghana's history, by relocating all the Zongo elements to the other side of the capital to free up space for modern structures to beautify the landscape of Koftown the regional capital.

So like I begun, manifold projects were undertaken under very strenuous conditions and yet our leaders at the time and we the people were able to get the desired results we set out to achieve.

Commenting on Ghana’s debt level, Sanjeev Gupta, Deputy Director, Fiscal Affairs Department at the IMF said: “Given the debt levels, and given that there is pressure that is coming up within the system itself, it would be a good idea to consolidate sooner than later; and this would entail trying to restrain pressures on wages, containing the outlays on subsidies.

“Of course, while establishing appropriate targetted social safety nets. And also improving the quality of spending that is taking place, so that overall in the end there is an improvement in outcomes,” he added.
